ABM what a great idea regarding hats. Simplest ideas are the best! Well done to your sister. I have a friend's daughter who's just commenced her 2nd year of midwife training, I'll mention it to her - it might earn her some brownie points 😃

Especially if she takes up knitting in her spare time !!
Just for information :- Gt Niece lives in Cambourne, Cambridgeshire so there may well be some contact 'tween East Anglian Health Trusts
{ Always assuming Essex accepts being labelled as East Anglian of course
}

ABM our son works in Cambourne. We're part of mid Essex- plenty of trying to 'merge' departments and hospitals going on, there was talk of the county town losing its A&E 🤐😤.
Midwife in training part of our trust but different hospital, the one that specialises in hearts 😉

Once again, thanks to those that have expressed sympathy, very much appreciated.
Me and the wife were over at Rob’s (wife’s BIL) today. As you can imagine, he’s still in bits. He expressed concern that now that his wife is gone, the family might ‘drift’ away from him. That won’t happen.

That’s us just booked our ‘main summer holiday’ a week at Hillhead in a Brixham and a fortnight at Minehead Caravan club site. We love Hillhead haven’t been for a couple of years so looking forward to that and we have never been to Minehead so that will hopefully be good too. Just a question for those in the know What would be the best route to take from Brixham up to Minehead?

He's almost certainly still in shock Freddy. I've seen a few people just after someone close to them has passed away and some of the things they worry about can only be put down to shock. My sister worried about my fathers false teeth! A neighbour worried about who would look after his dogs if he passed away, just 6 hours after losing his only next of kin, his brother. Hopefully your reassurances should help.
A day of winterising the garden as it's last brown bin collection this week. Nice to have a bit of sun to encourage you along.

Francis, we use both of those sites. We usually go home from Hillhead via Totnes and back onto the A38 through Dartington. Whichever way you decide to leave Hillhead go back to the M5 north and leave at Junction 25 Taunton. Follow the signs through Taunton, bearing in mind you'll be making a right hand exit away from Taunton town centre, this will lead you onto the A358 Bishop's Lydeard (where the steam train starts) and then onto Minehead, a twisty road but not too long a journey.
Roadworks are in progress at Junc 25, probably for quite awhile yet.
Have a good time, Minehead gives you access to lots of nice places, Selworthy, Porlock, Exmoor and Dunkery Beacon...to name but a few!

Thanks Brue. I was just having a brief look on the map and there didn’t seem an obvious straightforward route but the one you suggested does look ok. A while before we go yet obviously but I just like an idea of the roads ect especially when we have the van on the back.

Hope the "Happy Wanderers" got back safe and sound yesterday, WN.
We had better weather today than yesterday, so drove out to Grizedale Forest and had were out walking for over 3 hours, along some of the paths that we've not walked in a long while. Called in at local caravan dealer's on the way back but didn't see any that had that "wow" factor that would make us consider changing. There was a 2018 unsold Swift which was so wet inside, with drips falling off the ceiling onto the seating and all round the windows and frames I don't know how the dealer had the face to leave it on the forecourt. That's now another make crossed off the list of potential purchases.

I’d be more inclined to leave the M5 at Jcn 26 rather than travelling further to 25 when approaching from the west, Francis, as per the club's instructions.

I found it quite depressing going through our Christmas card list brue. Quite a few no longer with us 😥

We are in the same situation, in the past we sent and received over 100 cards ,over recent years the list has got shorter as our relatives, friends, work colleages and aquaintances, have left this mortal world, and we can understand even more how some people of our age can get so lonely and even more so at this time of year

Excellent idea OP. I never use Facebook, but will have read. Our beef isn’t with Jeep, it’s with the franchise garage.
Fiat do indeed now own Jeep/Chrysler, but that is actually going to work for us hopefully. They see the Jeep name as being massive in terms of opening up new markets across the World, so, they are not going to be impressed when we contact them and relate our experiences at one of their North of England franchises. We have done this before, again the dealer wasn’t showing due regard to a customer’s concerns, and when we got in contact with Jeep Italy, the response was very favourable. The servicing dept are fobbing us off with misinformation, going against the guidance actually to be found on the USA forums, where of course Jeep are huge, and things get sorted very quickly.
They are telling us it requires a four figure repair, and arguing who should fund it....Sales, Servicing, or Jeep. We know all it needs is a pot of glue and a hairdryer! Even the sales person who sold us the vehicle said that was the easiest fix! But it’s the lack of communication, the misinformation, the complete disinterest that has annoyed us. They have a sale, but aren’t interested in fixing a niggling fault. They’d make great van/MH dealers.......😂

Another frosty start but bright sunny day in East Norfolk. Had to go into Yarmouth so took the opportunity to walk on the beach at south denes to the harbours mouth/outer harbour. Great views out to see but also the the construction yards where the wind turbines are assembled prior to shipping. Plenty of wildlife around, couple of seals, snow buntings etc

I’m still weather watching here. Snow forecast later in month, so Wales won’t happen, looking to stay this side of Pennines. We did consider a cottage, but the pooch and last night’s vet bill was a shocker😱 so MH it will be! I like to do my Xmas cards while away in MH, it’s not a task I enjoy, but I can do a few each evening. OH always makes me chuckle, asks if we have done cards each year........hasn’t written any for last thirty plus years!😂

Good idea to venture away from the snow if possible TDA, hope you find somewhere.
A beautiful morning here but very frosty, now venturing out for a bit more Christmas shopping at Clarks Village...OH has a pain in his wallet already.

Cold frosty clear sunny start to the day when out with Rosa until about 10mins into walk when crossing one of the fields and the fog came down just like a curtain and within 5 mins it was really thick ,all that could be seen were faint outlines of others until almost in front of me,,but by the time we got back home (just over an hour) it was back to clear sunny sky again

We have plenty of options, although will only book until weather looks likely to change. OH’s compass always points North, so I sort of have an idea of where we will end up.......again😂 But it’s his trip, his choice.

Dry day here so far, couple of hours spent in the garden, more leaf raking. OH up a ladder clearing out the gutters.
Now back inside, pot of soup on the hob almost done, good job as my tummy is rumbling
Still waiting for a call from my LPG supplier
still waiting for a delivery of gas as well.
While its milder temperatures outside here, the wind has started to pick up so its feeling quite chilly in exposed places.
Not sure what we are going to do this afternoon but I'm not going out and tomorrow its forecast to be horrible rain
might look out some Christmas cards, think I have some left from last year, we don't do many these days.

Ghastly, awfull, 'orrid nights sleep, all broken up -- drowse wake drowse etcetera so got another Five chapters read
.
Got up to a light frost in Cheshire so took advantage of Curry Shops We will recycle your old appliance offer after buying a C D radio thingummy yesterday, then took the Ducky for a decent drive to get it thoroughly warmed & aired ( not a good ecological decision but needs must
). Down a country lane just south of Knutsford I was so pleased to see a full ' charm ' of goldfinches flit across my path. There must have been a good dozen of them and I was lucky to see them 'cos the low sun reflecting off the damp tarmac was making driving unpleasant
. Not, of course, helped by the presence on my nose of a pair of mucky specktacles !!.
Now working hard to stay awake till bedtime, then I'm hoping to sleep the clock round again, thats one of my favourite pastimes this time of year
.
Be nice & kind to each other and get those cards done please

What's this about snow and Wales Ttda? Nobody told me. Might join you going "north". When is this snowfest supposed to happen?
Another sunny day with a nip in the air. Had a good walk this morning and took the ladies to a local garden centre this afternoon, as if their purses have not squealed enough, as MiL needed some craft stuff. Poinsettias bought and first Christmas card of the year received.
Got home just in time to get up a ladder and do some sealing on the soffat boards where some rainfall drips down the brickwork.
Nellie, the ladies arrived home safe but not exactly sound. Knackered might be the operative word. Whilst they enjoyed it I don't think it will be repeated anytime soon.

Another frosty, sunny day here. Had to go to Yarmouth so after doing the business went for a walk through the renovated waterways and along the north beach towards the race tracks. Just went out to check on the night sky and heard Santa on his motorised sleigh Ho Hoing on the estate behind our house🎅🎅

My little App is telling me snow over Peaks late next week, bit later actually in Wales. We are only going hour and half away now, easy roads to get home on if it does come down😁 oH won’t need his passport stamping for leaving Yorkshire🙄
Had a lovely birthday lunch today at a pub we haven’t been into for years, excellent food and very dog friendly. One to return to for us.
