When we told our son that the kids conned us into buying tuck, he laughed and said can't believe you fell for it, then again me and Pete (his brother) used to do the same to gran laughing

It sounds as though you have had a wonderful day Tammygirl. You must have been so proud. Well done to the 'soft touch' grandparents!!

Lovely sunny but very cold day here. We went to our local theatre to see a National Theatre live screening of Present Laughter this afternoon. It was excellent. We have put up our Advent lights this evening.

Weak sunshine thro a thin cloudy sky, but just enough to remove the frost. I'm going to have to open my wallet today  I think 'cos my CD player has jammed shut & won't even play the one CD that is stuck in there. It does at least work as far as DAB & FM radios are concerned so I'll have to dodge tween the politicians & the poor comedians 'til I get some shekels converted to groats I suppose cry

    Sincerely hope you all are bearing up under the strain of the approaching termination of " Black Friday " compounded with the forthcoming Yule Tide !! { I bet  David D S B is under pressure now so add my best for his "Food & Rest Periods "  smile }

ABM not forgetting cyber Monday today.

Orion and it’s nebula showing well last night.🌙

Frosty but sunny day today so panels charging well for the 3rd day running.🌞

Had fun on the doorstep yesterday tying a canvasser for a political party in knots.  I managed to confuse this one for about 10 minutes before they remembered an important appointment.  🤣

Frost gone overnight so no scraping of cars this morning smile down side is grey skies and dull, doubt we will be generating anything from the panels today.

Toyota gone into garage this morning for a look at, we've experienced juddering when reversing up an incline, most noticeable when reversing onto a pitch with the caravan but even solo we've had it so its in the garage. frown

Tidy up of all the caravan stuff that had been dumped in the front bedroom, now dumped upstairs in the attic room laughing I've given my wardrobe and under bed storage a good tidy out too, managed to throw a few things out and half a bag of stuff for the charity shop.

OH just finished his ironing so guess I 'd better finish this and get on with mine.

Good clear skies last night Oneputt, always worth a look skywards! No canvassers here, just lots of leaflets. Very frosty this morning, loads of birds in the garden, the last of the apples have been left for them, our lone Fieldfare likes to chase off the blackbirds. Plumbing emergency at our daughter's house this morning, a long running plumbing saga, one bit gets sorted and then another thing happens, only a small terraced house, at least they have a wood burner.

Making inroads with the Christmas shopping, trying to keep it simple this year..failing as usual! wink

You are obviously the same as us OP. We take no prisoners if canvassers knock......... Given the range of political persuasions that pepper our tiny little street, it’s probably got a “under no circumstances knock” warning for all parties. We might all vote differently, but we all get on fine and are united in terms of giving canvassers a hard time😂

Not that you find many Trotskyist canvassers around nowadays.....🤣

I think we miss the ‘doorstep tussle’ a little bit.  We get lots of leaflets through the letterbox but as we live in a ‘No Cold Calling’ area they can’t knock.  We’re just out to our first Christmas Dinner outing, always nice to meet up with friends but we will not be having turkey on Christmas Day!  😂

We have just booked a birthday lunch later this week. Not wanting Xmas Fayre, have always found it overpriced and disappointing in the past. Fingers crossed there are no “parties” booked in on same day, we just want a quiet meal and chat. It’s a nice place, off the beaten track, so less likely to get the big office/works “do’s”🤞

ABM we have a grandma like that in our family. Not only does she make sure that she undoes us with buying presents but it seems there is a competition as to how often she sees the grandchildren and who they love the most yell.  Luckily we are going to N. Ireland for Christmas to see our grandchildren over there and the Irish grandparents are lovely. laughing

Nice sunny day here and a bit warmer than of late , so we decided to do some Christmas shopping. As the item we wanted was out of stock at our local B&Q we decide to go to one 20 odd miles away which had several of the item. Took a bit longer than we expected as there had been an accident, air ambulance parked in field and road closed.

Eventually got there, found the item and credit card declined.☹️Used an alternative and when we arrived home sat down to phone to find out why. Whilst waiting for it to connect, I was looking at the card and realised it had expired at the end of November.embarassed Then I remembered about 6 weeks ago Barclays sent us some new cards. However, unlike our other cards there was no overlap, they started on the 1st December.  So rather than carry them about for 6 weeks, we put them in a drawer and forgot about them.😂

Not seen a canvasser here, one or 2 walking up and down the street but nothing at our door. Would love one from the Indyref lot I could do with a nice chat wink

Ironing done and put away bed remade dinner over OH doing dishes.

Haven't even given Christmas presents a thought yet, the Gkids are all sorted as they all want money. Sons and DIL's we don't do anymore as they decided that once the kids came along, the money should be spent on them. OH and I tend to buy things for ourselves then do a swap, saves me taking stuff back later on and him pretending he likes it. laughing

As we are not having Christmas day here (going to niece's) I'm not even going to bother getting in a load of christmas food. I think I'm just fed up with it all these days, we used to have a house full when serving in Germany but not these days.

Christmas arrangements went pear shaped here. originally looking forward to a quiet lunch with sister and BIL at their home. Now they are looking forward to a not so quiet lunch here with four others, just after son and family return home on Christmas Eve after a three night stay...once more "into" the cooker, I think that's what Henry V said didn't he?! laughing

We "retired" from hosting Christmas a few years back, as has our son's MIL, so now we will go to son this year, with his in laws, while DD and family go to SIL's family.  Next year we and DS etc will be at DD's, as we were last year.

We all take along a contribution, the hosts decide what we should bring.  Usually we take a starter and a dessert, the hosts provide the main course.

To facilitate exchanging presents between those who will not meet up on Christmas Day, this year, for the first time, we have invited our son and family and our daughter and family for lunch at 2pm on Christmas Eve, so I will no doubt be doing the dusting while OH organises the food!

We have only had one canvasser here, who came while we were making dinner, so they got short shrift, but we have had a few while in charge at DD's house.  One I think regretted ringing the bell as I bent his ear over why, as a resident and taxpayer since 1970, I could not vote here!

Its been a very cold  sunny and frosty day here today. I had to break the ice on one of the bird baths. The other one is glass so I didnt like to try. It didnt thaw all day. We had hoped to plant some bulbs today as it is at last dry - no chance. The soil is like concrete. Pregnant grand-daughter had a day off today so came over this afternoon for a catch up, to inspect and help with our Christmas decorations and raid the advent calendar!

Had some shocking news on Saturday. The wife took a phone call from her sisters husband. He told her that that her sister (his wife) had suffered several heart attacks, until the final one that killed her. Needless to say, we are all still in a state of shock. She was a lovely lady, and only 60. I’d known her for 45 years, never a cross word. One or two of you might recall me speaking of a cruise a couple of months back? Well, it was the four of us. Some nice memories, but gone well before her time. We still can’t believe it...

Thank you for the reminder, OP laughing.  I was having lunch when you posted, so was well away from this old desk top but drove past  Curry shop on the way home from surgery with my 'new' sample bottle, so popped in to get a pack of inks for the printer.  Came out with a damaged wallet & a cheap(ish)   mains CD / Radio  money-mouth  . Wont fill the same spot as t'old one but I've got a full ' dis mantling ' kit I can apply my over sized paws to if it insists on being non-compliant wink

No worries about 'door steppers '  --  Even the Sally Army Band & the Lion's Santa Express  tip toe past my door  these days  so even the hardest of politicians accepts all they get from here is only marginally short of  a Criminal Charge  Oh  Bliss  innocent  oh Happy  Days  kiss
