Now how does that song go undecided

Its like so much of this medical world, Easy T.  Those of us carrying Donor Cards will know that, unless we actually die in Hospital & the family is with us at the time and agree with our sentiments, then the chances of our bits and pieces being used is rather slim. I'm not sure that the proposed "Opt Out" system will increase the number of transplants more than marginally. I guess it's just another "Good Idea But ,, ,, ,, ,, ,,  "  doomed to failure.frown

Any way I must point out that I was just 'giving' five or six fingers of blood purely for the scientists to test, check and giggle over in the cause of checking Old Brian's general health. I've always left the Blood Donor job to others, 'cos I reckon if I'm given x - pints of Ruby Red then x - pints is  how much I need  innocent

My wife gave blood more often than me because she had a rarer blood type and would occasionally be asked to go in, if the car was not available they would send a car. I'm just common!

Well done Oneputt. Why cherry brandy?

    embarassed sorry for the ignorance.

By recent standards a decent day here, dry and grey. Good chat with old dear friend who lives in Scotland, been almost 30 years but doesnt seem it, first off.

Pegged out towels keeping everything crossed. We both walked to Tesco for few items. Back home to do a few jobs in the garden, refixing bird feeder BIG pigeons! Shifting fuschia plant at the front door to the back and then into the cold frame. Replaced with Christmas Box (Sarcococca)  just evergreen but buds already and the insignificant flowers smell wonderful. OH prepared a sandwich lunch and after we'd eaten he joined me to potter. Best day for ages 😀. Sowed a few seeds given by a gardener an an open garden, blue flower she called Tweedie but I cant find it, very pretty blue I took photo of it in flower 😉 and popped in the cold frame, still have some for spring sowing if these don't grow. Good sweep up and got the washing in. Turned out to be good timing as heavy fine rain within half an hour, towels dry 😀 result.

A bit of paperwork tackled. Post contained a cheque from Santander following my request to remove 2 closed accounts from my online listing. 2p yes 2p. Must get into town to put into one of the other 3 accounts I hold with them. Wouldn't mind but that wrote to confirm account numbers to close and remove, (they were both expired 12 month regular savings accounts) but didn't mention where, if any funds, should be placed. Certainly didn't occur to me they maybe any 😂. But I'll ensure its banked, would be a waste of postage otherwise! Catch up on here before starting dinner.

Good to read of others "doings".

Don't spend it all at once Bakers! Limit yourself girl.smile

Horrible days drive to a cl outside Shrwesbury. Was going to drive all the way home but feel lousy (I think NTH has infected me by osmosis) and held up in A14 and Motorway traffic. Have to depart tomorrow as the CL will be full. Our last 3 CLs have also been full. Hardy lot considering the weather hasn't been at its best.

    Stay safe everyone.

Why Cherry Brandy, OP, as Bakers asks?

ps well done but you can take the balaclava off now.smile

Well it could be anything, but as the 11th Hussars were called the cherrypickers I thought it was appropriate.   🍒🍷

All those not feeling great get well soon

All those out and about, have a good time

Bright but cold day here in Aberdeenshire. Went to the MH and Caravan show today, really good turn out of dealers, stalls etc and supprisingly busy for a Friday. Quite a few school aged children which suprised us as the schools here have all gone back.

We saw a lovely Hobby caravan, OH now in love laughing better still the dealer is here in Aberdeen. I fell in love with a PVC from East Neuk of Fife what a lovely well built vehicle, not so keen on the tiny Waeco fridge or the Deisel heating. So wallet stayed firmly in the pocket.

Temperature is dropping tonight down to freezing and with the wind it will be even colder. Site full for the weekend though.

OP, the 'Cherry Pickers' were in Fally at the same time as us.

Very wet with strong winds here, before it started OH got the last of the Bramley cooking apples off the tree in the hope they'll store and keep. Better to pick them than be hit on the head by a faller, they are a good size this year...

Hope the various trips away are going well and anyone not feeling so good, stay warm and get better soon.

Just finished our evening meal, lovely fish and chips from the wonderful 'chippy' not far from the site. Has to be the best we've had in a very long time.smile

Not sure if there is something wrong with the extractors on the facility block but we can hear them from inside the caravan even above the noise of the TV. We are parked in our usual area of the site and never heard it before. Earplugs required for sleeping tonight I think, again.frown Will speak to warden tomorrow just incase there is a problem.undecided

We stayed at the club site in Stonehaven last year TG and loved it. We visited in May so the weather was nice and we had a nice drink at The Ship Inn in the town and sat overlooking the harbour.

Nice to read that folks are still enjoying breaks away despite the weather, which has now turned really wet and windy here.☔

To celebrate our wedding anniversary we enjoyed a lovely meal out last night  at a local pub that specialises in pies,  yummy.☺

Youngest son and his girlfriend are taking a break from house renovations and are off to the lakes camping!!!!😲😲

“Off to the lakes camping”??? 😮 It sounds wild and windy outside. I hope they’re ok.
Another week at work over. Relaxing with a glass of wine. Rugby watching tomorrow morning 🏉. The weather looks awful here for tomorrow so we’re staying in tomorrow and plans to get in the garden on Sunday.

Which CL are you on WN, as we know quite a few round there? Hope that you are feeling better for the drive home tomorrow, and that the weather's improved.

OP, why were the 11th Hussars called Cherrypickers, if it's not a rude question?

It was fine but grey this morning but the rain came as forecast in the early afternoon and has not stopped since!! yellWe paid our visit into Whiby this morning and certainly did see quite a few Goths in full regalia. It's a pity that the weather's turned so wet as it will spoil the occasion for many. Although the site was supposed to be nearly full tonight there are still a lot of empty pitches. I guess that the poor forecast has put a lot off, and they've just not turned up.

I'm curious too. Google didn't give me the answer but I did learn the regiment was formed in  Essex by Philip Honeywood. Everydays a school day 😉

Wish you better for driving tomorrow Wherenext.

HelenandTrevor you raised a hardy lad 😯. Hope it's better in the Lakes than it is here.  Wind's howling down the chimney and it's raining. Not cold though just feels and sounds like it should be.

Tammygirl I've had my eye on Neuk Van's 😉 not seen one in the flesh but like the layout and what I've read about them. Like you heating was off putting. Good to read you thought it well built.

Stay safe and warm folks. ADD46 sounds very sensible.

Rugby tomorrow- haven't asked daughter who she's cheering for 😂😂. Got a message from her tonight to say freezer light broke - eldest granddaughter, 5, says ..... oh no grandad can't fix it for us coz he cant fly 😂😂😂 Out of the mouths of babes. At least she appreciates his skills. 12000 miles and you still have to do the fixes - KjNelln think yourself lucky you calls are local 😉😉😉 I'm sure daughter will sort - she was taught by the master! Sadly she didn't pick up sewing knitting and ironing from me 😂

Bakers2, the EN vans were lovely, solid and finished well.

The things I liked was that there are a few things you can tweek to your personal likes/needs. There was IMO nothing gimmicky, just the things you need, no frills yet a very pleasant van that has been developed and built by a family firm.

They did say the diesel heating is very quiet but I 'd need to hear it in operation, I have very keen hearing so it wouldn't work for us if it was noisy.

The Waeco fridge was small with only an ice box not a decent freezer box, I do tend to use ours all the time so that could be an issue, also it only works on 12v and I'm not convinced it would be any use for Spain/France.

Still we said we would go through to see them at there factory/workshop were we can go over things in more depth.smile

    That's right RH, 1988/89

Didn't they get the name from the colour of the trousers they wore?

I know the RH wore deep red berets but that was after the 2 amalgamated.

    TG

If they allow a degree of customisation could they not fit a larger fridge for you? We really miss the big fridge/freezer we had in the  Approach 740 and now have an under counter fridge with a smallish freezer and its quite frustrating. It just means we have to stop more often for food shopping. EN vans seem to have a good reputation.

Bakers has your daughter swapped allegiance for the rugby? 😊 We’re watching the first half but OH has a dental appointment in town at 10:30 this morning. 😕 He can go there while I find somewhere in town to watch the second half........unless the All Blacks are walking all over us and I can’t watch! 😐

As an aside, a few years ago we went on a cruise (our first) entitled ‘Crimean Discovery’. On one of the excursions we went to a hillside that overlooked the ‘Valley Of Death’. Quite eerie when one considered what took place there. On the same excursion we visited the Panorama Museum in Sebastopol here. Probably unlikely, but if you ever get the chance to visit, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Never asked - I might not like the answer! Very odd feeling when I hear their national anthem and think that's my granddaughters! Mind you Kiwi's have 2 one of which is ours 😉 of equal status, the one played today only adopted 1977. Thank goodness for Google 😉 Daughter and husband, hes been there since he was 4, both kept British passports but got residency. Girls automatically Kiwi as born there. They take their parents through immigration 😯 they discovered after queuing with the non nationals 😂😂.

Good start to the match, I dont understand the game at all.

Good luck to your OH at the dentist.

Grey but warm here, the rain hasn't reached us yet. I hope comes as forecast because were off to visit garden for autumn colours! Weather warning for heavy rain for Northampton and Peterborough good job milliehull is in NI. Still given son and DIL clear consto watch the rugby!

TG, our previous van conversion, built by Autosleepers had ebespacher diesel heating.  I found it noisy, we thought it was a great idea at first but the van either felt very warm or cold. As soon as the fan stopped I used to be glad the noise had stopped too but could feel the chill rising. Maybe newer versions are quieter but you definitely need to hear it in action. You can often hear these type of van heaters on sites when people are using them, they are noisy on the outside too.

Absolutely beautiful day here today, full blue skies flipping cold mind but a lovely winters day.

AD, the model we liked at the show was a 495UL really nice van.

brue,  agree need to hear it in action its not an ebespacher they put in nowadays at EN thankfully. I remember being opposite and 3 pitches down from one on a site in Spain, when they put the water heater on for  showers it sounded like jet engine.

DK,  not sure about a change of fridge,, its one of the things we would need to look into as I wouldn't want the Waeco one.  We've only ever had an under counter type, the new ones are much better than they used to be. The freezer and fridge on this one and the one we had in the MH is fine for us. I know he will put in a full cooker if wanted (I don't ) he had one at the show in their bigger van, I would be happy with the 3 rings and smaller oven/grill.

ET,  as far as I know the fish and chips in Anstruther are still there, last nights were great.

Francis, we love it here not a long drive just 90mins from home and I love being by the sea. We avoid it in high season but at this time of year its a reasonable price, weather is a bonus.

Rugby didn't they do well, great game.

We had a good night last night our relatives are pitched right across from us so came over to our van last night it was good to catch up. It poured all night rain battering off the roof of the van although I quite like that noise. Damp here on site now but not raining we are heading in to the town this afternoon for a walk around.

I've had years of experience of diesel heaters on boats - and they are a pain!  Our last two boats had Webasto heating, and the previous one, Eberspacher. The Eberspacher was slightly more reliable but the Webasto - even though I eventually fitted a brand new unit, was still prone to packing up at regular intervals. People liked to blame dirty diesel - particularly red diesel, but I just found them unreliable and in need of constant maintenance. They are extremely noisy both within the unit and  from the exhaust outside - sound a bit like a jet engine when it starts up! On a caravan site, I would say they're about as anti social as a generator.
