I hate having anything on the front or rear glass so tend to use the washers quite often to keep them clear ,so the wash bottle although quite large needs fluid  between services we carry a five litre comercial premixed container

Ps and our car also has high pressure headlight washers (very effective ) when driving on our very muddy lanes at home and away

When we got our previous Discovery we spent a long time looking for the dipstick, until we read the handbook and realised it didn't exist. So when we got the current car this year, we were quite blase about letting the engine do it's own thing. We've had a notification come up re Ad Blu - bu there's a lot of miles to g.

Having owned this car for 2 1/2 years now we have had the Ad Blu message several times, and have filled several times, but had never had this warning light come up.  We were at York last week and the message came up to fill Ad Blu within 1500 miles, more than enough distance to get us home, which is why I did not think that this warning light could be for that.

Since then we had driven about 300 miles, but having figured out the warning light, and been to buy Ad Blu, when leaving the garage the message came up saying only 600 miles driving left, so the distance remaining seems pretty inaccurate, presumably towing means it uses more than normal.

I also filled the washer fluid as I knew it was low, surprised yours lasts so long ET.

One thing we have not managed to figure out much about is the so called "Infotainment centre", in particular the sat nav section and some other settings.  It has its own handbook which is quite bewildering!

We had a separate Garmin sat nav, which is easy to use, so have just continued with that.

JVB, ET, and David - thanks for your comments but I am in the hands of ALV at Tebay to a large extent - who - based on work they have already done for me, have my absolute confidence in terms of quality of work. Although I am aware that I have the right to select a repairer (as opposed to the insurance company), I feel more comfortable if it is done by a Knaus approved repairer in terms of the overall warranty on the caravan. I know that ALV have dealt with far more complex issues than this and can only assume that they have a pretty good idea of the potential costs. I am also realistic enough to realise that if I were paying for it myself, there might be a difference in the priceundecided

Here's a photo of the damage - which isn't massive at all and what's really frustrating is that if it had been half an inch higher, all that would be required would be a new window!

Kj, we had something similar when we bought the Toyota, it would appear, according to the Toyota garage that the float in the Ad Blu cannot register anything higher than 1700 miles so the warning comes on at that figure. They did mention not to spill it on any paint work and if you do to make sure that you swill it down with plenty of water. Our filling point is between  2 of the doors smile

Nice day today, went round a couple of garden centres but nothing of interest really. I was after some wallflowers but what they had was of poor stock. Will look when down south next week smile

Managed 2 hours in the garden on our return from shopping, more leaves to clear up frown planted up a couple of tubs for winter, also put some Sweet Williams in the front garden. Haven't had them for years but just fancied them for a change.

Ferry book for next Springs trip fingers crossed we will get there.

OH got a call today from the hospital surprised on a Sunday shock horror. Turns out they can't get him an appointment for an ultrasound within 8 - 10 weeks in our region, would he be happy to go to Glasgow, only 4-5 weeks wait there.

Looks like we will get away as planned within the UK but won't get the flu jabs until we get back undecided

I was just saying to OH that they could surely do it much quicker in Glasgow!  Surprised it is even 4-5 weeks to wait.  Used to be we were just sent down to the hospital with a letter from the GP and were seen within a short time.

While driving over to here (Kendal) on Friday, OH got a call on her mobile from an 0800 number, strange as hardly anyone has her number, wondered if she should answer it, but did in the end.  Turned out it was from NHS Glasgow, offering her an appointment on Sunday 27th for assessment for cataract op.  Sunday!!

Seems they are doing Saturday and Sunday appointments to catch up on waiting times.  OH was not keen to spoil a weekend with Callum, plus we have a lot to do when we get home, so asked rather for a Monday or Tuesday, when we are "off duty", and  was told there would be none available for a while.  As she was told there would be a 5 month wait, which would be January, and her sight is fine now she has new glasses, she has decided just to wait meantime.

I was out looking st a T Roc with DD, it had the Ad Blu filler next to the fuel filling point, much more sensible than under the floor of the boot!  Major upheaval to get to it.

On our walk from site this morning came across a remote area where Badgers inhabit so after a quick scout around continued on our way and covered about 6 miles.  Lounged around in the van then just before 5pm walked back to the badger area and were fortunate to see 2 of these fabulous creatures but couldn’t get close enough to take any snaps.

Poor day weather wise in Co.Durham with rain and drizzle on and off all day long. Did a 4 ml or so walk along the old railway track that runs through the Lanchester Valley, from Langley Park to Bearpark , without getting too wet. Our last night here before we move on down to Whitby tomorrow. Hope that the weather's better in the morning.

Ordered new hedging today, a mix of copper and green beech, so should give some colour. Did something different for dinner for us all, Yorkshire Puds with Chilli....went down a storm, getting on well with knitting Xmas pressies (fingerless mitts, got lots of orders), currently mulling over options for a week away for OHs birthday, bit later in year.

Sadly those days are long gone, I don't know whats going on in our area. We used to not have a problem getting appointments for things like this. Recently the whole of Tayside seem to have great problems. Even our local surgery is having trouble getting a full time GP and nurses. Not sure if its a shortage of them or something to do with salary.

The big practice my sister belongs to in Perth is hard to get a booked appointment but on the day appointments isn't too bad and they seem to have loads of nurses. Their Dr's will also take blood on the day if required where as  our practice you have to make an appointment with a nurse which could be a week later.

Good news about your OH's blood tests tammygirl but such a shame that he has to wait so long for his scan.  It is much the same in our area, especially trying to get an appointment with our GP.  If we want to see our own GP we have to wait 3 or 4 weeks but I understand that we can get an appointment with the duty doctor on the day as long as we ring early enough or even go down to the surgery and queue! Are you planning to go away in the meantime?

Pleased to hear that your new roof is on your conservatory Bakers2.  I hope you manage to get your roof blinds sorted out.  We don't have roof blinds so didn't have that problem when we had our new roof fitted. Also good news that your OH is making good and steady progress.  Super service from the NHS.

We went to our storage compound on Saturday which is now all hard-standing and looks very smart.  Hopefully it won't get as wet and muddy in the wet weather as previously.  It certainly looked well drained on Saturday. We gave it a very good clean inside and drained it so it is put to bed for the winter now.  We are not winter caravaners nowadays. We are off to see the family in N. Ireland in a few days so must get ready for that.

MillieH, yes planning to get away this weekend for a few days, then back home for OH's GP appointment on Monday.

We are off after that down south for hopefully 4 weeks unless the GP says otherwise (he'd better not) OH won't get an appointment for scan until the end of Nov/Dec so we are not going to sit around. If we can't get to Spain we can at least get out and about in the UK. smile

Got a call from the surgery this morning to say that the office manager is back and has reviewed our request for an earlier than scheduled flu jab, appointment made for this Wednesday afternoon. smile

Lovely sunshine today and blue skies but boy was it cold last night. The frost on the cars has now gone but the grass is still white where the sun hasn't been.

Have a lovely time with your N. Ireland family Millie.

Hope your 'NEW' C.L.  lives up to your expectations WN wink

Spent part of the morning on a Shoe Cleaning Safari !  Scampering round different rooms, Workshop { Shed !! } and even under the bunk in the van collecting all shoes, unlacing, polishing, buffing, and re-lacing 'em now I've put them all away oh so very neatly  innocent. Then I got the dreaded phone call from Elderly Sister ->  Can you run me to Hospital tomorrow please -several jobs under the single appointment !

Check on general health, two urgent injections, and nails trimmed  !!  ?? Nails ??  yes nails.

Took me a few moments to realise its The Vets Animal Hospital and the client / patient is sister's  cat - Fat Alfie  !

At least he will ignore me on my next few visits so I won't get coffee spilled on me for a while  !!

Sounds like your sister's practice is very similar to ours.  Appointments are usually 2-3 weeks wait unless it is something urgent, by which time you are probably no longer needing the appointment!

If urgent you get told a time to come on that day and then have to sit and wait, can often be an hour or more to wait.

We also have several nurses who take blood at booked appointments, but the docs will also do it themselves if necessary.

We have been with them over 30 years, so there is only one of the original GPS still there now, but most seem to stay many years, the nurses too, which is nice as you get to know them all.  Must be at least 4 GPS and 4 nurses.

Nice to read folks news, home and away.

Tammygirl glad your OH results ok and you can get away - enjoy.

Helenandtrevor good to hear from you, have you got your computer sorted.

Busy day here, OH blood test - again πŸ˜‰. Follow up/assessment appointment at home took an hour and a half. That's when it hits home - we're glass half full kinda folk and it's only when they ask probing questions that it hits home 😒. No complaints, well wouldn't do any good or change anything, generally OH has been very lucky.

Our security light on the shed gave up, been there so long unable to undo bolt to change the bulb 😀 bought a new one from Homebase,  lead so short it needed a bit added. Not fitted yet as much fiddling required then it didn't work! That solved but OH ran out of steam.

Been wet here all day, gardener here this afternoon, she seems to attract it! We put in 3 hours each and can see where we've been πŸ˜ƒ. Disturbed 2 frogs, 1 watched from the pond where it headed with a real disgruntled  look πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ as it was rudely evicted, along with a young newt, from an overgrown ornamental grass. Despite the rain some plants still required watering in as the rain has only penerated the surface 😲 at least the waterbutts are full. She's coming back in the morning, forecast dry,  so hopefully we can finish putting the garden to bed. But they will still be lots for me to potter at. So far our brown bins are not yet full so must be getting to the end of the drastic pruning πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

    I won't take much rocking tonight πŸ˜‰

A dry day here, waved son and dog off this morning, tidied up house and went into town. Using a new BMW hybrid on loan whilst our EV goes in for some service updating. Interesting to try the hybrid out, full of gizmos, nice leather seating etc but we're happy with the EV. The hybrid is quite small but has 4 wheel drive and is comfortable but I'm not driving it, one dent and the excess is excessive! wink

Good to hear the various holidays have/are being enjoyed. Hope Millie enjoys the NI visit.

B2 you sound very industrious in the garden today, nice to sort things for the winter.

Enjoying a peaceful evening, hope you are all doing the same. smile

Good to hear that you're going to get your flu injections next week and that you'll be getting away for a while in the caravan, TG.

Enjoy your tip to NI next week, millie. Good to hear that OH is able to do some jobs round the house B2, hope that the tests come out fine.

Hope that you had a good time at Whitby, H&T, and are now home safe and sound. Where were you staying? We had tried to get onto Monks Farm but they didn't have room at the weekend so we've ended up on the CC's North Yorks Moors site. We didn't realise until we got here that next weekend is the Goths Weekend in the town, so the place will be heaving. We might pop in on Friday to see the sights and visit the Abbey this trip.

It was a bit of a struggle getting off the CL this morning as the ground is so wet and I didn't want to get bogged down. That's a CL that we doubt we'll visit again. We did have an easy & uneventful run down here and apart from a bit of drizzle after we set up the day has been dry but cool.
