Well done HD and welcome to the club.
I’ll pass on the alarm clock.

Thanks, TG. I must admit that the sunset last night was grand, and today has been sunny but cool, but the ground doesn't appear to have dried out much.
We had a good day, firstly visiting Penshaw Monument before crossing over to Seaham to see "Tommy" again and walked down to the marina to see another of Ray Lonsdale's statues The Coxswain. After chips with our lunch another walk this time to the Nose's Headland. Then a little bit of retail therapy at the Dalton Centre on the way back to the van.

Great news, HD. Bet that you are mightily relieved that it's finally come to pass. Enjoy your retirement.

Tammygirl, I am so very sorry to hear that your trip to Spain has had to be postponed. How disappointing as I know you must have been looking forward to it. We have found recently that some GPs are a bit 'over zealous' with tests etc. especially the younger ones. It is called 'preventative medicine'! That said it is so much better to be safe than sorry. Much better if there is a problem to discover it now rather than when away. Also travel insurance companies get a bit difficult if you are waiting for the results of tests before going away as we found out last year. .Hopefully all will be well and you can be on your way before too long. Very best wishes.
Hey well done HD!! Welcome to the rest of your life. Happy retirement!! I too will pass on the alarm clock thanks
What a very unpleasant and frightening experience R&R. I too think that the police should have investigated further if only to make sure that it doesn't happen again with even more serious consequences. I hope you have a peaceful night tonight. I hope your repair isn't too expensive.
We were broken into many years ago TDA. It was a very unpleasant and un-nerving experience. Our son who was 18 at the time came home from school and disturbed them. Our dog at the time was very nervous and unsettled for sometime afterwards but luckily they didn't harm her.It was just before Christmas and all our presents were stolen. We never leave them on display now. As soon as they are wrapped they are hidden. I do feel for your neighbours.
We have booked a replacement holiday after our TC causality. We went to the new Hays Travel store which has opened where our old TC store used to be. Unfortunately we discovered that although they are open to welcome customers and take their details they cannot actually book holidays for another 2 weeks or so as the are training the staff. Feeling rather disappointed I came home and went on the internet. I managed to find the room we wanted in the hotel we have been going to for a few years. It is a week earlier than our original TC holiday but that is no problem. Result! Thanks Tammygirl, we had considered booking with the hotel direct and then booking our own flights but flights are getting a bit difficult as I think demand is greater than supply at the moment with no TC flights. There will be a big gap in that market for a while. Hopefully another company will take over the TC flights.

Edit: We booked our replacement holiday with Jet2 who have just come top in the Watchdog survey for flights.

Great news Millie glad you have it sorted, is it the same hotel?
We have only flown with Jet2 the once and that was to Malta, grand hotel and the flight was good. Roomy seats and big overhead lockers on the plane we had, the aircrew was some of the most pleasantest crew we have ever flown with. Meals were tasty too.

Yes Tammygirl, the same hotel
. Thanks for your comments about Jet2. That is very reassuring.

DON'T GET RID OF THE ALARM CLOCK HD
.
( Sorry for shouting ) But one of the finest things is to wake to the gentle ting - ping of the alarm hear the high winter gales n rain, smile gently and turn over and snooze 'til you really do need / want to get up
Now THAT'S BLISS

Well done HD. You won’t need the alarm clock - since I retired I’m always up at 5 am or thereabouts - so much to do😃

As one door closes another one opens HD - I'm sure that retirement is a figment of the imagination. We haven't had an alarm clock for years - we use the phones..
This morning it was the grandchildren and the school run!!
....and then a whole host of things to keep me going until wine time....

New conservatory roof fitted Tuesday. Very nice job - its white not the blue we had, as not available. Smart meters NOT fitted. Won't bore you with details, got odd vibes from him ringing the bell........ First our gas comes in via lead pipe. Did I know where it went 😂😂😂,. He needed to get clearance to do, they gave it. But he found an excuse with gas fire.
Got an issue with the roof blind suppliers, a very well known specialist in conservatory blinds, in view of the age of them they won't refit, roofing guys removed them for us. Apparently the blind company may have done them if they'd taken them down.......... Never thought to ask them. If it comes to us having to buy new ones, I hope to find someone to refix them, they will not get our business!
Finally got things back in their correct places on Wednesday but whilst doing so had phone call from consultant's secretary following my leaving a message last week, could OH be at the hospital for 2pm? Fantastic service. His first words to OH were well you look pink - you didn't last time I saw you! Very satisfactory visit 😀.
Got text to get OH to GP within a week following letter from consultant, rang when received about 0845, appointment 1110 😯. Another good result!
Good to read all the news sorry for not responding to each, but there's much to remember!
Tammygirl sorry Spain is postponed again, hope your OH tests and results are OK.
Decent, by this weeks standards, day sunny spells but a very beefy shower and then a few strong gusts enough to blow unsecured cover from the patio table, but all good now.
Enjoy your weekend, if those of us who are retired really remember what they are/were 😂😂

Pored with rain all day again! some heavy showers some just drizzle but the lights and heating has been on all day.
Cannot dampen the good news though............ OH got his blood results back this afternoon and all of them came back good no cause for concern
Will still have to wait to see when Ultrasound scan is but could be as far off as 6 -8 weeks
if that is the case then I think OH will want to go away rather than sit around here. He is fit and well just a 'niggle' in his left side, can't explain it (or even describe any better) could be something or nothing who knows.
Caravan is prepped ready to pack, everything we will need is in the front bedroom. Would just need to sort out clothes for where ever.
Bakers2, good to hear your OH is going from strength to strength, its took awhile but he is getting there. Also good to hear the roof has been done.
Kj, everyday is a Sunday for us

It’s been very busy here this week. My brother who stays in New Zealand has been in Europe working for a couple of weeks so is coming here for 2 nights before heading home. We are having a family party at our house for him tomorrow night so we have been out buying food beer wine ect. Haven’t saw him for almost 4 years so looking forward to this weekend. We are planning on going away in the van next weekend think we will just relax after the stress of the last few weeks.
Hope everyone else has a nice weekend.

By the time we had sorted ourselves out this morning the early rain had been blown away so we drove to Thorpeness and wandered over the heath to Sizewell. Had a cuppa at the café and walked back via the Suffolk Coastal Path. Despite Sizewell being in that description it was a lovely peaceful and scenic walk.
Then a stroll around Aldeborough looking at potential holiday rental for early next year.
Good news TG. What are you waiting for?🤗

Good to her that the conservatory roof is done B2, just a pity about the smart meter. Have they given you a date when they'll come and fit it or have you given up on the idea completely? Hopefully we'll get ours installed when we get home. I'd not bother but it's part of the contract we've got with Shell for our household G&E. Pleased to hear that OH is steadily getting better, and that the NHS is doing so well with your appointments at the moment.
Glad to hear that there's no concern following OH's blood tests TG. Hope that you're able to get away somewhere for a time.
Hoped that you found Giffords to your liking, Kjell. We've just booked 3 nights there for next month, on our way home.

I would appear that you've missed some of the rain that's been reported down in East Anglia, WN, and been able to get out and about.
We had heavy rain through the night last night and it didn't stop till about 11 this morning, so it was a couple of damp dog walks for me. Took the bus from the P&R into Durham after lunch as I wanted to visit the Rohan store, but they'd not the Troggins in my size. Might call in at the Long Preston shop when we get to Clapham. We had a wander up to the Cathedral and into the Archaeological Museum before getting bus back and then filled up with fuel at Pity Me.....wonder how that place got it's name?

Our trip is almost over now, arrived at our last site, CCC Kendal today, home on Tuesday.
Weather at our previous site, at Clapham, was quite good, only rained overnight, so we got to see a bit of the area. This included a trip to Hawes, where we invested in a good quantity of cheese!
Slight panic on the way here when a strange yellow warning light appeared on the dashboard, which at first glance looked like the "low oil level" light. However after a short stop to check the oil level, the info system reported that the oil level was fine, we completed the 30odd miles to Kendal.
Fortunately, before calling for help, OH sent me to check the handbook, turned out it was a "low Ad Blue" warning symbol, which we had not had come up before!
Quick trip to Sainsbury's petrol station after lunch, where we secured their last two containers of the stuff, did the trick, and all is back to normal. I did however have to half empty the boot to get to the filling point. Usually we just get a warning message to fill within a certain mileage, so the appearance of this warning light was something new.
I will know next time.
I now also now know that this car has no dipstick, the computer checks the oil level!
