No I was never offered a lollipop ABM laughing.  We were just given 'The Talk' about how we needed to have it to protect the patients and also they didn't want us all going off with the flu and therefore making them short staffed.

I was doing my Cinnamon Trust dog walk duties this morning and have to say the level of the River Avon is alarmingly high! Bradford on Avon already has temporary flood defences out and roads closed and Malmesbury must be in danger unless we have a couple (or more) dry days now. frown

Well it looks like we will not be going to Spain after all.

OH went for a checkup this morning, Dr wants to do blood tests and an Ultrasound. Blood test can't get done until next Tuesday surprised and Ultrasound who knows when.

Knew there was a reason why I didn't book the ferry.

That's disappointing for you TG, but health comes first.  Spain will still be there next year.  Hope everything works out OK.

Look on the bright Tammy. You can now get your flu jabs done.👍

Joking apart, feel for you and your OH. We've been thwarted twice ourselves this year but we live to fight another day. There's always your annual month on one of the islands (can't remember which one, sorry) to think about.

This morning was a mizzly one so we did some housework so to speak, had an early lunch then drove to Aldeburgh for a lovely walk as weather brightened up.

Met a French couple who are over here holidaying in a Motorhome. I haven't spoken any French for a couple of years so it stretched me somewhat. Madame did speak a little English but Monsieur didn't. It was quite good and 20 minutes soon passed. I think we were the first people he had had a conversation with so didn't want to let us go.smile  All I could remember of the walk back was replaying all of the elementary mistakes I made when the correct words popped into my head. Ah well, c'est la Vie.

Oh dear TG, sorry to hear your latest set back. Hope things get sorted for you.

Absolutely livid here😡😡😡 Just found out one of our neighbours has been burgled. Broad daylight, bold as brass. Only a young couple as well bless them, still working hard to get their home together. Low life smashed a window, in like grease lightning, grabbed all tech stuff and car keys, drove off at high speed in their BMW. On the plus side, three sets of cctv cameras have recorded everything and police are doing their best. Makes me so mad. We all try and look out for each other where we live.

It might not be very nice to say it, but if I could have 10 minutes with such scum they’d never do it again😡 Little dog was lucky as well, escaped through broken door, found wandering in local park, some kind person took him into local vets. They scanned him, found he was a patient and phoned couple. At least he was unharmed and is safe.

    Grrrrr😡😡😡😡😡

Deepest Commiserations TG  I hope your OH gets his  checks & tests done soon, so you can try to re-book something suitable, and he gets the all clear very soon.

Hope your neighbour's problem is resolved swiftly, TTDA, I'm quite surprised that you say the Police are in action.  I have said from time to time, on here that I am Old School in these matters. That's just another way of saying I believe in Corporal Punishment AND sensible terms of imprisonment. The only form of Suspended Sentence I favour is the obvious one !

laughing Funny you should say that, it was the first thing OH said when he returned home when I asked how it went.

"You don't have to worry about the flu jabs"

Everyone is of course right Spain will still be there another time ( I've been saying that since 2015 when he took ill in Salamanca) Think I need a new man laughinglaughing

We will of course make sure everything is ok before thinking about what we will do instead. Might fly off somewhere undecided

    WN   Lanzarote cool

TTDA   how awful for your neighbours, thieves are scum.

Well we haven't yet received our TC refund but have today booked a November holiday to Tenerife.

We always find it far easier and better to search online

It gives you the time to read Trip Advisor reviews on the various holiday options before committing  -  I googled one hotel we were strongly considering and one lady had started a thread asking "What have I done"  - After booking she had discovered it was known as a "Swingers hotel" - No we are not going there!

The other major advantage in booking online is it allows you to search out the cheapest day to fly - we cannot find any reason but the day before and the day after would be £500 ( total)  more expensive than the day we chose for exactly the same holiday. I'm not convinced that a travel agent would have taken the trouble to advise you of the potential saving by altering your dates.

Millie, if you know the hotel you like why not book direct with them and book your own flights, doesn't suit everyone I know just a thought.

Our little street is buzzing with shock to be honest. Can’t believe how brazen they were at 9.15 in morning. We all think Street is watched on a regular basis, comings and goings noted for someone to take advantage. You just feel so helpless, do all you can, but they still get in. Hopefully cameras will identify whoever it is.

Firstly sorry to hear about your OH TG, I hope it eventually works out ok for him and you manage your trip to Spain.

TDA, my BIL was burgled a few years back while they were sleeping upstairs so I feel sorry for your neighbours I know how upsetting it can be but it’s good to hear their dog was found safe and well.

I don’t know what you had in mind for that scum but I have an image of you holding a couple of house bricks.....ouch.embarassed

Shame about not being able to get away to Spain TG, but OH's health comes first of course. Hope that all the test results are positive for him.

Such a pity about the break in and perhaps the police will be able to apprehend the culprits. Good to hear that the little dog was found safe and sound & was return home.

It seems as if those that had booking with TC are getting their monies back fairly quickly, thankfully.

Aldeburgh is a lovely place for a walk, in fine weather that is. Glad that it cleared up for you WN.

Reading the weather reports on here from around the country it would appear that we've been fortunate. It was rather misty and damp first thing but we had no rain while we set up or when we got to Old Bridge End. We do have a H/S pitch thankfully, as the ground is very soft, but the site is nothing to write home about in our opinion. It was fortunate that there was a very helpful fellow caravanner who assisted us to set up...3 hands and a mover are better than 2!!.

Fine afternoon so we had a decent circular walk and then a lovely sunset.

I do know that the Clubs Travel Dept will search for alternative dates around your preferred times for ferry bookings for the best price as they've done it in the past for me.

Try local farm shops.  They sometimes stock the odd truckle....  Also, I know the Chatsworth Christmas Market also have a Snowdonia Cheese stall.  I think I might leave it 'till Chatsworth this time.

Many thanks everyone, yes of course OH's health is the important thing.

We were both looking forward to going though frown

Hopefully the tests (when he gets them) will give us some answers.

NTH, sorry to hear you are not that enarmored with Old Bridge End. We had great weather when there, we only stayed a couple of days to go to the Tall Ships at Sunderland. I agree nothing special but the sunsets were nice. Hope tomorrow is better for you.

Actually, David, I went to a Garden centre by Leighton Hospital after I did my bit of supermarket shopping. I got four truckles including Bouncing Berry - a left over from the Dambusters Raid I think  wink

Ha ha, two housebricks no. Being a Game of Thrones fan, I am now party to some s..l..o..w and much more protracted punishment methods. However, being able to prevent the gene pool replicating would be my last fling! 😂
