Two days of strong winds and rain and we've lost our plum tree, I think it was struggling a bit but I will miss those Victoria plums! It keeled over in the strong westerlies. frown

That's sad. Hope your other trees survive.

It’s rained all day here.💧 The flower bed in the front garden is under water and looks like a paddling pool. I’m desperate to get in the garden, as our council stops collecting the garden waste next month. Everything  still has full foliage on and I’ll be wrapping the banana plants up tomorrow. Frosts are forecast for next week. The original banana plant had “babies” which are now eight feet high, so I will need help to wrap them up. They’ve become a two person job!

Oh lucky you ADD, I lost my Banana Plants in the six week frost in 2010. They were wrapped up, in greenhouse, with a small heater on, but I couldn’t save them. Too big to get into house.

We are off to a wedding do later, got to get glammed up soon......😁

At last its stopped raining in Cheshire now, so I've been out re-filling the feeders for the second time today. It appears that the tweets are topping up before the really cold weather arrives - even neighbour's  Homing pigeons are getting a little hungrier now it seems. They get released for  a short flight then packed away & anti-rain shields fitted.

Now it's back to clock setting / fresh battery fitting  then a hour or so 'Kindling' in comfort.

Its been a thoroughly wet and miserable day today. cry

Watched the rugby this morning, good result. Had been going to a local farmers market but had a change of plan due to the heavy rain.

Spoke to son, camping trip is still on but not setting off until the morning, forecast says overnight temps of -1 or 0c rather them than me.surprised

Enjoyed catching up with what you've all been up to. Good that people are still out and about enjoying their vans.smile Let's hope weather improves.

Enjoy the extra hour in bed tonight.wink

It's been a beautiful day here, sorry folks. Sunshine all day, very chilly but not quite resorted to hat and gloves yet.

Snow on the hill tops, freezing again overnight, gritters out, its winter starting.

Visited the 2 parks that Kj mentioned the other day, we've been to Duthie park and the winter gardens before but not for awhile,  it was busy today and looked very good, the glass houses in particular. Johnston park much smaller but very nice..

Back home tomorrow for a few days then off again, nothing planned will check the forecast to see which side of the country has the better weather wink

I know what you mean about the rain on the roof Francis. I'm the same but give me a barking dog 2 miles away on a still night and I'm all for shooting the ruddy thing.yell It's Ok folks, I wouldn't shoot a defenceless animal. The owner? Maybe.

Had to pack up in the pouring rain this morning as the Cl was full for the weekend so no room at the inn so to speak. We somehow have managed to avoid either setting up or packing up in any rain at all during the last 5 weeks of being away so I suppose it was only right that we got caught out at our last stop. Oodles of surface water in Shropshire as we drove home to an equally wet Wales. However it had stopped by the time we arrived home. Yippee.laughing The van and car have been unpacked.

The motor mover needs looking at as it has packed up. The previous owner had it transferred from his previous caravan and it looks ancient. We did say that we would probably have to replace it before next year so it looks like we'll have to get it done quite soon.

Hope everyone else on the move arrived safely. Sounds like Tammy has had the best of the weather, probably about time too.

Glad that it was dry for you unloading, WN. Shame about the MM though.

We had over 24 hrs of rain, but thankfully it stopped midafternoon so we managed a short walk out without overtrousers at last. Surprisingly the site has filled up today and there's hardly an empty pitch. Last night here before we move on down to Flamborough.

We were a bit surprised that the CL was due to be full until the owners son told us that it was half term this coming week in his part of Shropshire.  Hope the move goes well Nellie.

Lovely sunny day here in Glasgow too, but very cold out of the sun.   I spent most of  the day in the garden, dismantling things in our remaining greenhouse.

We used to have 2 8x10 feet greenhouses, Alton cedar ones, but a few years back we donated the older one to a local NTS garden.  We kept the newer one, thinking one of our children would want it eventually, but it appears they do not, and it has started deteriorating on the north facing side of the roof, so time to dismantle it before it falls down!

Have offered it to NTS, but they are short of volunteers to build a base and erect it, so meantime we will get it dismantled and the panels, which are quite large,  brought down to the back of the house where it is more sheltered.  I might even consider repairing it.

All our aluminium benches from both greenhouses are in it, so I need to dismantle all those first.  DD will take several of them to use  in her garage and garden, the rest I hope to fit into my workshop (garage) eventually.  Hopefully I will get all that done this coming week, and next weekend, progress and weather permitting, DD and SIL will come and assist with the dismantling of the greenhouse while OH looks after Callum.

We had our flu vaccinations this morning, very busy at the docs, then OH went down to DD's to help with domestic stuff while I hot on with the greenhouse stuff.  Tomorrow we are off for lunch with our son and family, ages since we last saw them.

Hiya KJ. I inherited a brand new 13x10 Alton from my father in 1988. He died just a few days after it was delivered, so he never got to see it ☹️ It sat in my garage until 2007 when we moved to another house that had a large enough garden (200ft) to house it. Apart from a couple of corroded parts, it was in very good condition and served me well for 7 years. We moved again and had to leave it behind. If you need new panels, it might be possible to get some new ones from Alton?

We have given up growing stuff in the greenhouse now, but once we get it dismantled I will take a closer look and see whether I can repair it.  It is some of the roof timbers on one side that are starting to rot, but I may have some suitable timber in the garage that would be OK to repair it with.

As nobody in the family wants to have it, we do not really want to splash out on replacement parts from Alton, as we will probably end up giving it away, these things are difficult to sell up here it seems, we tried to sell the previous one without success.

Disappointing that this one has not lasted as well as the older one, I think we got the first one in 1991and this one in 1994.  OH used to grow thousands of plants which she sold to raise funds for various charities, as well as having our own tomatoes, peppers, aubergines and courgettes in the summer, but she stopped when I retired in 2007 as we were away for months at a time.

Hiya KJ. Yes, not much point in splashing out on new panels if it’s future is in doubt. A pity though as they’re very good greenhouses, imo. I used to get huge crops of tomatoes in mine, much better than the aluminium one I currently have. As we intend to spend a lot more time away, I won’t be bothering with the greenhouse next year, along with hanging baskets etc. Not sure yet what I’m going to do about the lawn.

Not sure yet what I’m going to do about the lawn.

I pay to have the grass cut once every 2 weeks during the growing season. Costs about £450 and well worth it

When we started to go away in the van for longer periods we got rid of the grass and replaced it with gravel. The lawns were never very good as we are on clay. Neither garden is that large so the gravel worked for us.

Beautiful weather here in NI. It rained on Friday so just a short walk with grand-daughter and dog then inside pursuits with the grandchildren. Wall to walll sunshine yesterday although cold. Watched the rugby in the morning. Son supports England still but grandchildren support Ireland so not that bothered about the match. Son and OH of course delighted with the result! We then had a trip into their local town and a nice long walk in the afternoon which took in an inspection of their newly built sailing club. Another beautiful day today.

I hope those not feeling too good feel better soon and that those away have enjoyable and safe travels.

E used to cut my own when we were away but once our stays got longer I did the same as you David. But I wa having more trouble doing it when home due in part to arthritis and so let somebody else do it. They were already doing it for half the growing season anyway

Beautiful morning here, just right for our garden autumnal colour trip.

Milliehull sounds like you're having a lovely time.

Made the most of the extra hour, allowed OH to stay in bed for half of it 😂😂. Bedding now in the washing machine! Forecast looks good for us for next couple of days, can't enjoy it tomorrow - appointments but hopefully we can on Tuesday. Definitely cooler, but I'd rather have bright and cold than warm and grey and we've had plenty of that recently.

Tammygirl good to hear you had better, if colder weather, you've suffered too! You can keep the snow though thanks.

For those under the weather wishing you better and safe travels to those out and about.

A day for catching up with all of the jobs that have accumulated whilst away plus the caravan and car need a good clean and wash. Have to sort some bird food out as well and put the feeders up again. Looks like being a lovely day out there.

Helen, any chance of borrowing Trevor for a while?smile

Sunny in the west country. OH has gone fishing so the extra hour helped the early morning start. Might do a bit of gardening.

Greenhouses. We moved ours here from our previous home (5 minutes away!) I don't think OH will ever attempt it again, it's aluminium and it snowed on the day he had to dismantle it. It used to be "my" greenhouse but it seems to have filled with "his" plants and other stuff. wink

Spent a little while watching Wales v S Africa cavorting on their allocation of grass this morning after checking all those clocks ( except one ! yell ) are still keeping good time and, surprise, surprise, they are surprisedsmile !!

Now, after my Sunday Snooze , it's time to start powering ( Slowly & Gently  innocent )  through those slides again. I guess Brian's Winter Season has arrived with a few clouds and loads of brilliant sunshine.

Hope it is at least as good, bright & dry wherever you all are and what you are doing.  Seems like it could be a good day for someone to dismantle a greenhouse if there is a supply of hot soup or coffee to sustain the workers  wink.

Great journey from Sandringham to Sutton on sea except Boston as usual, bright sunshine all the way and although a cold wind it is still lovely after yesterday's rain (they had flooded ground and pitches here)

Last time we were here was 2011 and my word the money that must have been spent on the refurbishment of the site has certainly been worth it as it is so much better and different since our last visit

We will be visiting friends nearby and going to East Kirkby air museum for their fireworks and to see and listen to the Lancaster and now a Mosquito  doing their Taxi Runs
