It was a large sized one specially chosen on the final ascent in your honour and was placed near the top.

    Oneput - thanks

Near riot on site tonight as the fish and chip van ran out of fish. We got the second to last.

Suggestions welcome, no art galleries or hill walking though just not our thing. We like cycle routes, walking along sea fronts, canals, rivers. We like old towns and natural beauty spots. Quite like to visit RSPB reserves if there is anything worth seeing at this time of year

Well your first 2 declinatures nearly bu****ed me up completely but I'm nothing if not dogged.

Head for North Norfolk. A couple of CAMC sites will be open, there's beautiful beaches to walk along at Holkham, Wells, Burnham Overy Staithe etc. A few houses to see including Sandringham, Holkham Hall, Felbrigg.

Hunstanton, Cromer and Sheringham for the seaside. RSPB at Titchwell. Good pubs with good beer and plenty of good eating. Recommendations to follow if needed. There's also Norwich if a city is needed. The weather, whilst unpredictable anywhere, is usually drier on the east.

TG I highly recommend Chester at this time of year and the Chester Fairoaks club site is excellent. Easy walking distance from a lovely pub that does decent meals also you can cycle along the canal towpath right in to the city centre a very nice route that we have done many times. The city itself is excellent with lots of history and also at this time of year the Christmas markets will be starting. Liverpool is within easy reach and we would recommend a visit to Port Sunlight which is a great wee place to spend an afternoon and The bridge Inn there does lovely food. Unfortunately we haven’t made it to Chester this year but we are hoping to get down there the early part of next year.

    Hope this helps.

Also decent for a few days (not everyone’s cup of tea) Blackpool is not bad out of season a nice walk along the sea front which has recently been done up. Cleverly a just along the coast is a lovely little place to visit much nicer than Blackpool and again a great prom to walk along. Lytham and St Anne’s are also worth a visit. We have stayed at Laithes Lodge CL just outside Blackpool which is nice with hard standing pitches and a shower and toilet on site at a reasonable price.

We had a lovely last couple of days with the family in NI.  We were so lucky with the weather as it was dry and sunny although cold.  We had a lovely long walk on Sunday with the family and their dog followed by a pre dinner drink at their neighbours' then back home for a lovely Sunday meal of roast beef. We are back home now but will be over there for Christmas.  We have just booked our flights - more than twice the price of what we paid this time!! surprised

Lovey photos cornersteady.  It is such a lovely part of the country.

TG  I agree with WN about Norfolk. It is a beautiful county with such a lot to do in all seasons.

OP what car did you get?  I do hope you are pleased with it.

Bakers2 I hope you have finally got your garden into shape and ready for winter.  Ours is still a 'work in progress' laughing

Helen MyMum used to make brack on a regular basis.  She soaked the fruit in tea (without the milk!) overnight first.  It was wonderful.  You have reminded me that I haven't made it for ages and I should give it a go.

Tammygirl I'd go with Wherenext for Norfolk, you can add on Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Rutland and Lincolnshire - Essex too. Again I can expand. And I'd go with Francis with Blackpool area Port Sunlight for a day to me 😉 lots to see in Liverpool too. We stayed at Southport, great train along the coast, if you don't want to drive, very reasonable 'rover' ticket right down to Chester and very flat cycling almost alongside. You got red squirrels and Anthony Gormley scupltures on the way.

That's all typed hastily as I haven't got long. But happy to add to if you like.

Another fan of North Norfolk here as well. In fact we are currently planning a trip in December. Lots to see and do, even in December, and if you get a nice crisp day, some lovely beach walking.

We are home after three lovely days out, and great weather, if a touch chilly! First day was a Classic Car Restoration Show at Royal Showground, then we visited Baddesley Clinton House and Gardens on Monday, and finally we headed East around Leicester and stopped off at Belvior Castle this afternoon. Three great days, nice stop over at Warwick Racecourse as well.😁

We are thinking of Norfolk and Suffolk for our first trip next year, we will have about 25 nights available, so following these suggestions with interest.  We have been before, twice, but still plenty to see I am sure.

Another 2 good days here, yesterday and today, very sunny but also pretty chilly.  Did quite a bit of cutting back of unruly shrubs yesterday, 3 garden bins now full, and loaded up the car with greenhouse benching to take to DD's garage, with more today, but still 2 aluminium benches to dismantle, plus the wooden ones, before we can start on the greenhouse itself.

If we get dry weather tomorrow I should get all the aluminium ones finished before we have to go and pick up Callum from nursery.

Fine most of the day at Flamborough, just a short light shower as we sat down for lunch by the lighthouse. The was a "police incident" there, with a lot of the shore taped off to the east of the lighthouse, and the Lifeguard Helicopter in attendance. We didn't stop to watch but there were plenty that did!

Edit. The body of a woman had been found this morning, believed to had been washed up onto the beach....East  Yorkshire & Humberside News.

Wow! thanks for all the suggestions.

Think we will start off tomorrow with Moffat, then onto Meathrop Fell for the weekend. We've thought about Blackpool if we do it, it would be mid week. Chester we did a while back and Bristol, both very nice and would return, we've done a bit of Liverpool and we did the statues when we were at Southport.smile

Norfolk we haven't done at all other than Great Yarmouth once and had thought of going there. My Mum was stationed at Hunstanton during the war and her father came from Norfolk. I will take notes of the suggestions, we will more than likely do some of them on the way.

Not a bad day here yesterday, just the odd very minor shower in the afternoon. Took the MH out for a drive,  to move the working  parts and rotate the wheels. While we were out called into Tesco to replentish the fuel tank, as it's last fill was in Bayeux. It took rather a while, as the only pump I can comfortably use was being hogged by the Home shopping wagons refilling. At 3/4 empty it took 62L ☹️ but at least I had a 10p off a litre voucher to use.😀 So now back in storage ready for our next trip.

Today has dawned sunny, which will make it pleasant for planting the Junipers we bought yesterday afternoon. They will eventually form a short section of hedge🤞Spikey enough to act as a deterrent but not as unpleasant as proper thorns. We wanted to get / plant them before our tour in September but we're worried they might dry out. Our soil is very well drained. No chance of this now, 😂 I believe it is rain on and off until next Monday, after today.

Beautiful day here Sunday we made it to the garden for autumn colours. They were nice but I'd expected an arboretum type however 3 lovely ponds. Red breasted geese, an eider drake and a very active bufflehead. Had to accost a man who sat on the same bench, see I am very bold 😉embarassed, what it was. He didn't know but checked it out on an app on his phone. Google didn't help me - I made the mistake of inserting UK and it's not a native!

Sunny start again this morning, off in the garden to potter. Milliehull it's ready for winter, but like housework you can always find something to do if you look! Grass could do with a trim but it's rather wet! If not a good sweep of patio, side and front with heat treatment of weeds, most therapeutic. But first I must tidy the chest freezer 😱.

Enjoy your day folks home away and inbetween 😉

Another bright and sunny day here but forgot ho cutting an easterly wind can be still I think I will make it to 1st November when the shorts are consigned to the cupboard!  Hopefully this wind will blow some rarities over here

Millie we got another Honda Crv as our old one was a brilliant towcar.

Got to wait in for a parcel today so will relax in front of the telly for a while providing there is anything worth watching.

"relax in front of the telly for a while providing there is anything worth watching."

I've been doing that lately in the afternoons - destressing - watching stuff I've had recorded for ages.

So far - Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility and Persuasion. A bit of a theme!

Just tried ( 5 times yell) to ring Surgery to query four identical texts received yesterday telling me of the wonders of booking appointments, prescriptions etc via 'Smartphone'

    GRRRRRRRRRRRR  !!

I do all my bookings on line via 'Patient  Access'  and its great for my needs !! And the characters are of a readable size !!

There are times when I think this technology stuff is just designed to ensure some of us take our regular allocation of headache pills to help supermarkets run out of 'em  !!

    Rant over !!

Now sitting here listening to 'Scottish Music ' watching birds eating me out of house and home  and taking a short break from them there slides ( still )

Hope you all have as pleasant a day as I,  sun shine, very light gentle breeze & loads of vapour trails -  Wonder were they are from / going to  ??

AR WELL as the scientists say, back to 1984's slides  smile

That was a bit of a shock Nellie. Can't understand Gawpers.

Got to hospital early as you need some time for parking. Got called in for consultation an hour late, typical. First words out of Consultants mouth was "Why did someone make an appointment for you to see me before you have your scan?" My reply went something along the same lines as I explained to him that I did make an appointment for the end of November only to subsequently have this cancelled whilst I was away on holiday and a new one made for today. I rang and queried it and was told that the Consultant wanted it that way and a new appointment would also be made to discuss the results. Aaaghhhhh, The Consultant shook his head at the incompetency of it all and apologised. He then discussed what would happen in the event of various outcomes and promised to get someone to ring with the results.

The thing about it all is that I tried to warn them and tried to get their appointments reversed but they knew best. I'm a mere patient, what do I know? A wasted morning.

OH got a letter postponing his kidney appointment for next March with profuse apologies and another appointment enclosed for 3 weeks later.  Suits us well as since the appointment was made we have booked a holiday at the beginning of March and OH was going to have to brave the appointments system to try and change it. I do like it when a plan comes together laughing

Nellie there was also that tragic incident on your home territory as well.

Somebody decided at about 2:15 in the morning. to climb a tall works chimney in Carlisle using the maintenance men's  temporary wooden ladders and got stuck at the top for one reason or another. They tried using a helicopter but it was ruled out as unsafe due to down draught. In the end it took a super tall cherry-picker & the Fire  Brigade to recover him. Sadly hanging upside down for about 15 hours had the obvious, tragic end result .

It must have been almost impossible to avoid seeing that awful  sight

Cornersteady looks like you've enjoyed another good day. Nice photo.

Very productive day 😀 here. Chest freezer, only freezer!, in the shed tidied. Found more meat than expected, as well as bread 😱. Even written a shopping list based in missing items 😂.

Then continued to the garden, managed to half fill a brown bin with more snipping and pruning. OH patched shed side, no idea how the bit fell off as it was behind a conifer branch that's been removed 😉. I managed to get the top off the grass, it had grown more than I'd credited with, almost a full basket! Then proceeded to finish heat treat the patio block paving, took a couple of hours and I was well wrapped up. I was on the last few blocks as the security light came on.

After I stripped the bed first thing I washed our summer duvet, OH reckoned it was time - I have my own heating system sometimes 😉. The duvet and bedding dried nicely and they smelled of cooler days!
