I don't think if I have plenty or money or not comes into it at all any more than the state of your outfit, your income, and how often you replace it or do an upgrade on anything?

    And I don't 'work'.

you suggest that us with older devices should upgrade them.

I never suggested anything of the sort Dakota, could you please quote where I did?

I'm not sure if the club did design it with the latest in mind? My five year old computer and three year old laptop appears to work perfectly fine. I'm not too sure if any computer 15 years old would run anything from today? For example a computer from then would have about 512 Mb or maybe 1Gb of memory running Windows XP if I recall? If anyone wants to pay money over a website using a version of windows that is now unsupported then I think that's asking for trouble?

The club can't be held to ransom if people don't have the technology to use it's services but I'm not sure at all if there is a problem at all, how many bookings the club say they had done? It was over a hundred thousands and they can't all have the latest hardware?

I don't think the club needs to think again about anything. And if people want to leave then that's their choice.

Many of the upmarket and expensive LVs according to now two sales men I have had dealings with the majority of sales of new or newly new LVs seem to be cash sales financed by Pension pots, or equity  release and not so often the result of money/property left by relatives very rare it is now by finance deals

less financially endowed? Just to remind me how much did you spend on making your MH suitable for 'off grid'

It's nothing to do with money or how much you have it's about spending one's money as one sees fit. You decided to spend what could be called a considerable amount on your preferred way of touring? Perhaps with your cruises, frequent touring abroad, former apartment abroad (do you still have a yacht/boat btw) some might call you financially endowed?

Why not let people spend their money as they see fit, as posters do to you, without the labelling?

Not properly it wont,as that is what I am using and getting the recurring clithches.

Perhaps an extra £90 is peanuts to you but for others it can be the equivalent of a few days away or a fair bit to their home fuel bill.

A motor caravan type of LV is about on a par with a vehicle needed to go to work maintaince wise, so owning such an LV unless fairly new and costing many tthosands is not a case of being "not on the breadline?" undecided

Maintenance costs, yes, but you won’t buy a MH worth having for the price of a £2-£3k Ford Fiesta suitable for commuting. You won’t even get much of a caravan for that, let alone a tow car as well. 😵‍💫

I have had a look, though I do not take it with me on tours any more as it is heavy, and even older than our i pads.

The display is stable, but  trying to navigate around the search and book is clunky and not intuitive.   Certainly not easy like previously.

I have not kept up with which things are supposed to be "fixed" as we would not plan to book any type of site until possibly February (for April), so thought I would wait till all the problems were found and sorted.

I did have to add UK to the location, and see they still want unnecessary info such as car and van length (they know what outfit we have), dates of birth and membership number, even though I was already  logged in.

I expect I would get used to it, but generally OH is one who looks at where we might go, and  makes the bookings, and she only uses her i pad.  She has never used my other machine.

Don’t know if you can use the library easily on a kindle. The electronic library was a life saver during the height of the pandemic when libraries were closed.

I have a Kindle Fire tablet and yes I can access ebooks from my library, in fact its the very reason that I bought the Kindle. At the time my Samsung tablet would no longer read ebooks from the library as they had changed systems. Not happy about having to buy another tablet just to read ebooks from the library as there was/is nothing wrong with the Samsung, the library suggested a Kindle as it works well with their system.

Having now checked the booking page out on my phone, Kindle tablet, Samsung tablet and my laptop I can state that it works to a degree.

Phone, quickest of all but the map is totally useless

Kindle, also quick map works better

Samsung tablet, very slow but it is getting on a bit

Laptop, works fine, map works the best.

The main issue I have is that when I go into the Main Booking page BOOK NOW

I select location, select include Certificated Locations, type in Location, select from the dropdown the area with UK after it, choose dates, then press search.

I get a list of club sites and CLs - great

Club sites have all the info I require and the prices

CLs have all the info but no prices displayed. This is the same no matter what device I use. This means that I then have to do a search for CLs separately, not ideal.

You know as well as I that you’re pushing the boundaries there, JV, and such vans are not permitted on CAMC sites. What’s more, I did say a MH worth having.

Why are you continuing to drag this way off topic of the Booking System?

On Facebook on the Club had an advert feature for the Brighton Sheepcote Valley site. When I clicked on the link for the site,it bought up the old web site.

So even the Club are not advertising the new revamped web site. You couldn't make it up.

It seems the system we have and has been much modified (and yet still it seems internet speeds and type of equipment you use specific),since the unannounced introduction of what is a continental booking system bolted onto and then expecting it to work with a completely different UK sites booking system has been proved does not work correctly

We can just hope that the Feb?rehash is a reintroduction of the much more user friendly system as previously, amended as if needed , deposits? with a longer cancellation period and much clearer T&Cs

John, no chance at all of reverting to old system....'fix moving forward' will be the way from now on..

the bit of PR in the recent mag is a long list of 'fixed' and a short list of 'still to do'🤷🏻‍♂️

Isn't that a link a quick fix (workaround) back to the old data?...surely not a long term solution?

But I am not alone with the problems thrown up by a system that was and still is a failed attempt to bolt two different types of booking systems together and then after 3months still having problems for discount card users trying to use it,  unless as you  have a good Internet and up to date equipment and it seems WFH

And as you might say marketing are trying to put a positive spin on what has been achieved and say that some problems still to be solved ,that is on those that have come to light so far from when the magazine was published

Pre BT my Internet was low single figures it didn’t ‘create’ issues it just slowed all processes. We are a Hamlet where most villagers petitioned BT for a Fibre connection & they did it is now 25x what it was. It can be done.

Hopefully not but the previous set up was good (and still is) so I hope the present new CL search system can be developed in a similar manner ?

Just before we  left our last site a couple of the site support staff came to say goodbye and two things that were quite interesting

    1. they have covered staff on 14sites this year and have never before seen such low occupancy and some of their colleagues they have been in contact with are of the same opinion in fact on one two couple site did not say which was completely empty on a couple of occasions others have said even one popular site did not have arrivals on numerous days although it had numerous pitches available

2 they also say the hot topic with members is still very much the problems of booking with the present system and the call centres are very busy now as it seems that is where most of the bookings are now being done.   as they said if you know the site and it is a simple booking then it mostly works but anything beyond that use a call centre

I said about the latest info is an upgrade is coming out in Feb they just laughed ,🤫

Ps the owner of where we are now has not charged us his latest prices so it is even cheaper than expected🤫😁

And the owner of where I purchased OHs wheelchair has given me a mod to enable me to operate it more comfortabley FOC 👍

The type of browser you are using can also have an impact. Some browsers work much quicker than others.

As an example I have just been trying to read or download the latest Club magazines. Using Firefox is absolutely useless, stop my desktop dead in its tracks. I tried it with Edge and it works fine quite quick as well.
