New booking system with deposits

It's clear that there have been a few false starts with the new system which has resulted in a pause to being able to book a year ahead, complicated by the fact that the cut off date seemed to be in the middle of a popular holiday period. The temporary suspension of bookings was likely done to stop the number of bookings that needed to be transitioned to the new system which might in turn caused more delay? If the rumours are to be believed the problem should resolve itself in the coming weeks, perhaps sooner than we think?

NO I don't because, unlike some members apparently did, I didn't book numerous sites/dates and not turn up at many of the sites that I booked! I have been a member since 2013 and have never actually booked more than a week in advance and neither have I failed to turn up at any sites either!

I never joined in either but I remember it well.
I'm not sure "frenzy day" equated to cancelled booking or no shows any more than the rolling booking system does. That seems a big leap in thinking and I’m sure it wasn’t what CY was referring to.

Same here, no bookings, no email.🤷🏻♂️

There seems to be a bit of difference in the information given in FAQ and on existing bookings on the new system, in relation to extending existing bookings.
FAQ states:-
What happens if I need to extend a booking on the new system, which I made before the new system is launched? ie will I be able to extend a 'migrated' booking on the new system?
Existing bookings will be moved onto the new system when the new system goes live. We recommend that you cancel your original booking and make a new booking for the new longer duration, adopting the new booking process and payment conditions. Alternatively, you could create a separate new booking for the additional dates required, however this would mean that you would need to check in on both your arrival days and would have two bookings and payments to manage. Hence, it's simpler for you to fully cancel and rebook.Where as the extending existing bookings link states:-
Can I add/remove nights on an existing booking?
Members - Yes, you can add or remove nights from an existing booking using the new system. Simply log in to ‘My profile’ as normal and click on ‘My UK site bookings’ to view and amend your booking(s) as necessary. Nights can be added or removed on a booking with no deposit requirement or change to booking terms and conditions.
Assuming the latter is correct it will certainly make it easier amending the part of half term already booked, providing the facility is available from day one. Perhaps they do listen, as there were many moans about this and if the FAQ solution had been applied it would probably have resulted in a lot of separate bookings for extended stays, that would have needed combining on arrival.

I am in this situation with a December booking for Chatsworth. I am concerned about cancelling and then trying to rebook as I am not sure the days will be there when I go back in to rebook? I am surprised there is no option for the site to accept both bookings when you arrive. Assuming that payment is taken automatically on the day of arrival (perhaps this is the sticking point) I suppose I would just have to nip along to reception on the start day of the second booking? Will this need to be done at or after 1.00pm?

Thanks Steve I made the mistake of assuming that both sets of information were the same. The updated info is better as long as it is visible and clear for all to see.
The cut off dates are important.
I'm of the conclusion that there can be too much information but some would say there can never be enough.
Hope there aren't too many adjustments in the pipeline.

Well, the day has arrived and it seems everything is in an induced coma. Will life support be withdrawn?

No the day hasn't yet arrived CY, it's more like a breakthrough in the tunnel...
We'll see progress when our forward bookings have an M in front of them. Nothing as yet.
Edit ... will we see the M sooner or later, that is the proverbial...?

DK- I was in the situation of having a 4 day and 11 day back to back stay for September I had to to this as I could not book the the full 15 days at the time, when I received the the email about my bookings being migrated to the new system my concern was the 4 day booking would go to grass and the 11 day to hardstanding I contacted the site and they managed to convert it to one booking, there is no way you can do it yourself without cancelling and re booking

It turns out my situation was similar to yours except mine was caused by a senior moment on my part! A series of other events now makes sense! My booking consisted of the Sunday as one booking and Monday to Thursday, departure, for the other. I thought I had booked a hardstanding with no awning for both bookings. Unfortunately for the single day I had inadvertently booked a super pitch hardstanding without awning (I had no idea they existed). Fortunately when I went back to look at what was available I was lucky that Thursday was so I tagged that onto the end of my booking. I would have prefered to have travelled on the Sunday but at least I should miss the traffic coming out of the estate and perhaps the queue along the site road won't be so long? At least now I shouldn't have any entanglements with the new booking system until next year!!!

I’ve been trying to find out from the club when the new booking experience is going live I have sent several emails & the first reply said it was going live on 8th of this month then I got told it would be today Monday 15 Aug I’ve had an email stating my booking for September was being transferred to the new system so I had an online chat with them today to find out how I can make sure I get a hard standing pitch only to be told the new system wouldn’t be coming in till early in September due to complications. I just can’t understand why they can’t get the new system up & running I’ve been a club member for 20 years & I’ve never known them to have so many problems implementing a new system it’s getting to be a bit frustrating now

Jim, it’s their problem not yours. You have a secure booking. Why are you frustrated?

Well even me, or should that be even I, wouldn't be that generous PD.
They need to decide asap the best way forward, either wait or allow the current sytem to go a bit longer.
I wonder if they don't want to do that as June, July and August being the club's peak occupancy that will cost them quite a bit in lost deposits?
They might lose even more if people book to get a firm booking for holidays elsewhere for next Summer.
Imagine if say you couldn't book a package for next year with Thompsons? You'd just go to Jet2?

I suspect it’s likely to be the problem of anyone with or making bookings, as it’s likely to be a right pigs breakfast when it is eventually introduced. Particularly if they can’t speed up this web site, absolutely everything is running slow.☹️

Yes agree there.

You're not guaranteed a hardstand in the present system if you have a reasonable long booking you're probably going to get a hardstand if its a short stay then grass it's obvious even to HO that hardstand is the preferred choice so as I see it they will lose a great number of bookings in the new system when there is only grass available

Oh Tinny, that flying pig is so funny🤣🤣🤣🤣

Perhaps the Club have been over ambitious on possible start dates. I am not so sure that if they explained the reason for the problem there would less to discuss? I just imagine a whole raft of "experts" telling them how it should be done
