It might if it was compulsory. However, unless they have changed that, you could opt to pay on the day. I can’t see any great advantage in having paid in advance, if I am stuck in a queue with others who haven’t.

Interestingly I noticed when I made a C&CC booking recently, the tick box was back for payment on arrival. Although you could tick it, there was still a statement saying balance would be collected automatically on the morning of arrival.🤷🏻‍♀️

I find the C&Cc system works well with payments being deducted from the bank on the day, only the deposits are in advance of arrival. I presume there will always need to be alternatives due to people arriving who haven't booked etc.

No DD can't be compulsory as some will opt for other payment methods.

I can only think of one change (much larger than this) that has been such a farce for all concerned, with little gained for the customer.

Thankfully we have no future bookings in place, and to be honest, there isn’t anything tempting us back to stay on a Club Site, not least the prices. I suppose a few will get a happy little bonus of a £1 a night off if they booked a grass pitch, unless (and I put nothing past this Club at the moment) they have upped the price of of a HS pitch, rather than reducing the price of a grass pitch? That’s of course if the Club has even remembered it promised this wonderful sweetener amidst all the other shenanigans it has to reconcile.🤷‍♀️

As spur of the moment, roll into a site tourers, should we need to use a Club Site in future, I somehow think we aren’t going to have a problem getting a pitch. I can foresee folks voting with their wheels in droves.

    No email here either Nellie.

The e mails are for people who've made bookings and will be in the changeover process.

Have to say the opposition took a very long time to get their booking system up and running correctly so we're probably in for a long haul.

I still think this is all small cheese against booking a flight with an airline that charges for every single extra and even mistakes made in the process....wink

As we are due to be going away shortly, I just hope that when they bring the new system online all our bookings are there. I have visions of turning up at a site booked almost a year ago and finding they have no record. Remember when they lost a load of CT threads / posts for several days, some never to be seen again.

Well to be honest we don’t tour anymore, so none of this affects me but I just thought, if allowed, I’d add my tuppence worth anyway....Really glad we don’t need to book, it’s a bit of a mess isn’t it. We always booked well in advance due to needing a site for a couple of weeks, fortunately we never once needed to cancel a booking. Taking deposits is going to be a big job/upheaval for the Club but will put early money in the coffers I suppose. If not to be rolled out on time surely they should now release next years bookings til September. Once they said that they were going to do it surely they had checked that they had the ability to carry that out. With a recession on the way businesses are going to have to be on the ball and competitive to attract and to keep customers, lately this Club appears to be neither, maybe time for a general overhaul, shakeup.

Probably Brue😁 Last time I booked a plane flight was 1983, and it was soooo easy. I did do a walk onto the helicopter at St Mary’s in the Scillies, think I bought the ticket in the post office, but given I was barely standing (seasickness) at the time, it’s all a bit fuzzy🤣

Central booking, the live chat, did get our Marazion booking wrong last year, but staff sorted it for us. But that was after we were charged the wrong price for our stay on arrival, so, it’s a mere 5/10 for bookings and payments at the moment from us.🤣

Oh yes😡 I still haven’t forgiven them for losing lots of my reviews. Poof……now you see them, now you don’t.

It all bodes for an exciting time ahead……for some😁

We are all different. We never stay more than 5-7 days on a site as we feel that allows us to see everything of interest in the local area of say 0 - 10 mile radius. Nothing is worse than overstaying what the area has to offer.

I'm wondering if everyone is getting this email, I think I assumed wrongly yesterday that it was going out to people with forward bookings. I presume now that everyone should get one?

    Brue

If its this one entitled "Important update - your UK Club campsite booking is moving to the new UK booking experience" dated 12th August I would think that everyone with an outstanding booking has had one? THis is the only one I have received, thus far, about the new booking system.

Hopefully they will as without it you would be hard pressed to find the page it takes you to by clicking on the link.
This has the extension / Existing bookings on new system to How to book a site.

If you go in through the web site using Find a UK Campsite, then Useful information, then How to Book a site, you get stuck there. Unless I am missing it there doesn’t seem to be the option of accessing Existing bookings on the new system.

Really this sort of information warrants a pop up when you enter the site informing you of its availability. Not to be hidden away in a dark corner.☹️

I see that migrated bookings will have an M in front of the number so this will indicate when the system starts to work in the right direction.

I agree Steve, a pop up or banner might alert more people.

Maybe we ought to know if the e mail is going out to all?

It is very disappointing that the Club communication is so poor. The Club policy is that site bookings can be made on a 12 month rolling period but someone has decided to stop this without communication to members. I guess it is all linked to the new deposit scheme.

Why should members who follow the rules in respect to site bookings and cancellations and always show up on time at the site be penalised by having to pay a deposit.  Maybe this new approach should be applied only to those who abuse the rules.

Meanwhile loyal members cannot book holidays in line with the Club rule - 12 months rolling.

    Not good.

Oh yes, the switch to 12 month rolling wasn't long ago.

We'll see a similar thing when they eventually release booking dates for next June, July, August.... 🤨
