How's your footy team doing?

''Twas a game of fine margins. Town hit the woodwork four times!
I had to explain to my OH that although the posts and crossbar are made of metal we still say "hit the woodwork "
That got me thinking about another misnomer extensively used in football. We talk about the ball " hitting the back of the net" when in fact the ball hits the front of the net, the back is the bit that faces the crowd.
I need to go and lie down in a darkened room

WoooHooo
A Bad Bad Night for Liverpool losing 1 goal to nil against Brighton
And at Anfield too so consecutive home defeats and Radio commentary insists thoroughly deserved too.
And Everton won 2 ~~1 away at Leeds Crowing Rights changed hands tonight

Hey, a magnificent goalless draw against the mighty (now Barton less) Fleetwood yesterday.
Big week coming up for The Gas - home matches against Oxford and the even more hopeless Swindon Town. If they can't get points from that bunch then, as Private Fraser would say "we're doomed, all doomed"!

And another one bites the dust!
Mr "good performance just lacking in the final third" Tisdale is no more!
I said this time last year, just after Graham Coughlan decided to further his career with ... er ... the mighty Mansfield Town that neither Tisdale or Cotterell were the right men for the job, but was prepared to give him a chance with a young squad this time round.
What a mess those at the helmet of The Gas have made of things, so many lost opportunities and who would want to take the job on now?

Whisper it - Barton has been mentioned as a possibility - along with several others recently deemed surplus to requirements by other clubs.
Tony Pulis has connections with the club but would be a risk and probably out of their reach finance wise. Paul Cook and Nigel Adkins weren't considered last time.
If fans were allowed in Ian Holloway would be the obvious choice to get everyone motivated.
But they can't afford to make another mistake so I suspect Tommy Widdrington will take on the job temporarily.
Wonder if Eddie Howe fancies a new challenge?

Not a Clue there , M, Lad ~~ too many sleeps to come !
And I'm likely to start another sleep before full time -- the Sheffield - Bristol match should be bottled for sale / donation to insomniacs , indeed it's no livelier than United's match yesterday
P.S. Surely you don't mean Doncaster ??

What a shambles ! Two up at 45 minutes , ref adds 3 minutes and plays 4 during which they pull one back.
they then get a soft penalty and to rub salt in score the winner very late. Our defence can't defend for toffee!
Why oh why did I renew our season tickets 😟

Two points gained since Christmas, the heady days of five home wins on the bounce seem eons ago. The eternal pessimist in me sees that as relegation form 😩
Away at Middlesbrough on Tuesday then it's Swansea at the JSS on Saturday. I can't see us getting owt from those two

As predicted our inexorable tumble down the table continues.
We're a shambles at the back, toothless up front and moribund in midfield . We don't seem to be able to defend a lead or extend a lead. We led again last evening but couldn't see the game out.

I've watched this team for over 60 years and come to realize that I know bu99er all about football.
How do you explain this: last Saturday Town lost to the bottom team in the Championship after leading by 2, seven days later they hammer the team sitting third in the table .
At half time it seemed like a case of deja vu .Take the lead and then concede in time added on after 45 minutes.( Town have conceded in injury time in the first half for the last three matches.)
Still three welcome points especially since some of the teams around us also won.

As the 'Owd Reds visit to Gresty Road approaches tomorrow night, is Brian quaking in his boots? The way Stanley are playing at the moment, I fancy a draw as the outcome.
Just a comment about 'Uddersfield - their last result cost me a clean sweep in the Super Six. Thanks for nothing!
