Congrats to Burnley, finally Championship winners.
Glad I’m not at the East Lancs “bubble game”, tonight, though, just how lively will it get….😱
Big game at City tomorrow v Arsenal, I will certainly be at that one 🙂⚽️🙂

Just back from the Man City v Arsenal game.
Some wonderful football from both teams, and a very large Tifo pre kick off.
Not sure Lindsey would approve of it though 😱

Well done to Man City on reaching FACup final. Sheffield United tried hard, and at least have the consolation of heading back up to the PL. We have decided to try and get to some of their home games. Should be a cracking derby Final Pliers👍

I thought Sheffield United played well. It was a pity that their 2 on loan players, James McAtee and Tommy Doyle couldn’t play, especially as they had done so well in the earlier rounds.
Both clubs wanted them to play, but against FA rules, so they couldn’t.
Anyway, congrats on promotion, should do well next season, fingers crossed. 🙂

Yes, they didn’t disgrace themselves. semi finals and promotion to PL is a good season. We keep an eye on Sheff Utd results, but I won’t say we are Blades fans, but Boro is a long way away, and expensive even for home games, so it’s easier and cheaper to get to Bramall Lane.
I like top flight football, so happy to watch any PL game really. When Gareth was at Boro, and they could hold their own against some of the really big Club’s it was good, and we could get cheap tickets. We often went to the Riverside when on holiday up in North Yorks, could leave the pooches with Mum and Dad in a holiday cottage, go and watch an evening game.

We are off to Old Trafford in June for an England game. Any hints on a good place to park would be great, we are coming in from Tintwhistle, it’s been a while since we were at OT?Must get to the Etihad as well, we have been past going to Velodrome, looks superb.😁

To VAR  ~~ ### We are in love with you, T'Alex and I  ###

Well after leading 2-- 0 then being pegged back to 2 -- 2 it was only in the

90 + 11th minute that we scored THE WINNER  [ sorry for shouting but you will forgive me this time, won't you, please, pretty please innocent ]

We normally park at Salford Quays, then walk across the footbridge to the ground. Great views of the stadium from there, looks really spectacular at night matches.
There is plenty of parking at the Quays, but it’s expensive and hellish to get away from after the game.
Maybe our CT United fans will have better ideas.
If you do opt for the Quays, it’s worth taking a look at the nearby Lowry gallery, and there’s also the War Museum North, I’ve not been in there, not my scene, but it is popular.

Years ago, there used to be plenty of street parking off Chester road, but I think that area is now a resident only zone. Some residents do rent out their places though, plenty of websites advertising them.

    Enjoy, whatever. 🙂

Well, t'Alex finished the season with a late goal  so they can close the book on a decent enough season.  Hopes for 2023 -- 2024  are piling up in the sunshine  .

Just back to the Man City v Real Madrid game.
    What a fantastic performance.
So, hopefully, will get tickets for the final in Istanbul, going to be a very expensive couple of weeks 😱, 2 cup finals in early June.
Free flags at the game, though.
I will lower the tone of the village, yet again, by decorating a couple of large planters with them, tomorrow morning.
Any other CT people going to Wembley for the FA Cup Final? I expect so. 🏆.

Do hope that you and yours have great pleasure at the games and arrive & escape without any difficulty what so ever  !!

Yes, Brian, enjoyed the 2 finals, what a season.
Photo is pre kickoff at the Atatürk stadium, not the best venue. Miles from anywhere, seated well back from the pitch (athletics track surrounding the pitch) but good, modern facilities.
And a great atmosphere in the ground, and another freeby flag to lower the tone of the village when we get home, tomorrow.
I’m worn out, but need to liven up and get the ‘van sorted, we’re booked on the Friday evening Brittany Ferries crossing to St Malo.
Will hopefully be a more relaxing few weeks than the last 3.
    Happy days.
    🙂⚽️🙂

HaHa, I’m not that keen, but will be keeping an eye on next season’s fixtures when they’re issued on Thursday.

Really enjoyed Istanbul. Kept an eye on the birds, of course. Very little on the Bosphorus, wrong time of the year, possibly. But plenty of mynas, yellow legged gulls etc. And, at dusk, lots of swifts, including Alpines, screeching as they circled the Blue Mosque. Magical.

    🙂

Some very “interesting” fixtures in the Champions League draw, expect an amazing atmosphere at St James’ Park. Enjoy ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Eddie Howe will have to be a bit more tactily astute than he was against Liverpool last weekend when playing those other 3 teams in CL.

You don't seem to missing KdB much Pliers although you have had an easier start than most fixture wise.

What a fantastic result for the Tigers, yesterday. 1-0 win over Leicester and away from home as well.  Is this a sign of things to come? - part of me says we have been here before - but perhaps, this season I'll be proved wrong!!smile

3 wasted years come to an end as The Gas bite the bullet and sack Joey Barton. He took over a mid-table league 1 team and got them relegated with the worst record in the club's history. Some will praise him for getting them promoted at the first attempt, which indeed he did,  but he was then heavily backed financially by the owners to push for another promotion and got nowhere near it. We're now back in virtually the same position as when he arrived. He ditched the club's ethos for bringing on its own youngsters, instead relying on loan deals from higher league clubs to develop their youngsters for them. Results this year have been poor and the excuses about injuries and poor refereeing have worn thin.

A small group of us decided not to pay to watch whilst he was in charge, instead donating ticket money to the supporters club who back the club academy. With a sigh of relief,  we can now start attending again and I've just stumped up for a ticket to see us take on the mighty Northampton Town on Saturday.

I don't expect things to change overnight but I hope results start looking up - there are a number of good  candidates on the market right now - I'd be backing someone like Chris Wilder personally; he's got good experience at this level but would he want the job at this stage?

Still, onward no upward we hope! UTG! 👍

A thrilling 3-3 game between the Railwaymen and my team Accy Stanley would have been the catalyst between myself and Brian ABM for some decent banter in recent times.

Sadly, he is now watching from the stands in Heaven and I miss his comments. Noticeable too, that since he passed, CT has become a duller place.

Funnily enough, I was also thinking of Brian on Tuesday night when The Gas were up there and knocked t'Alex out of the cup. He's sadly missed on here.

Post Barton life just gets better and better with an unexpected but apparently thoroughly deserved win at Bolton today - 15 shots, 8 on target - statistics we could only have dreamed of earlier in the season. Another trip to the northwest next weekend to take on Blackpool. Things are looking up, there's a hell of a lot of ground to make up but a place in the play offs has to be the aim now. smile

Moulesy, I'm delighted for you that Barton is no longer involved in your club. Hopefully others will take note and banish him entirely from the game, although I understand there's a vacancy at a certain Turkish club 😉

My thoughts and prayers are with ex Gas skipper Tom Lockyer and his family tonight. So brave to come back after collapsing in last year's play off final to play for club and country at the highest level. Sadly, I think common sense dictates that he won't be playing at that level again but hopefully there will always be a place for him in the game, whether at Luton or elsewhere.

Such a shock, and my thoughts too are with him and his family. Hopefully he regains full health although I fear that his playing days, especially at the highest level, are ended. It certainly would be good if Luton took him onto their coaching staff if that is what he wants to do, of course.

Good to see Mr Lockyer has now been discharged from hospital after having treatment from our wonderful NHS and having a "device" fitted.

He's now starting his rehabilitation and I would think it unlikely he'll be playing top level football again.

Whatever happens, the good news is he's alive. Much needed good news in the current climate.

Best wishes for good health, peace and happiness

I see the local team, Wrexham, gave Nellie's Barrow a bit of a thumping over the recent holiday fixtures. Not that interested in Wrexham per se but there are a few in the village that do go, funnily enough they seem to be recent converts!wink Wonder why?

Anyway I did read a full page article in the about how Barrow have improved. Made an interesting read. To avoid the problem of relocating any new players to the area they cast their net a bit wider by having their training around the Manchester area on non match days and then gather as a group for games. Seems to be working for them this year.
