He will have my Email when he gets home ,he lives not far from us
He has also had one from me urging him to bite the bullet and cancell HS2 now that the much vaunted "extra capacity" according to his experts? will not now be required for many years ,if at all and put the money towards this countries now huge debts,

and have you ever thought he might just be one of the few guys we will really need when lock down ends and we need some blue sky thinking to get this country back on its feet, if we had gotten rid of all the arrogant people in this world , the world would be a much worse place than it is today.

People in power very often choose to misuse that power, or justify it because they are considered more important than others. I don’t care what political persuasions such people are, it is not the way to uphold fairness and accountability.
We have become so used to public figures doing the wrong thing that it has become almost the norm. They get away with it, time and time again.
Never lose sight of the fact that these individuals are put into positions of trust by the electorate, and as such, are accountable to the electorate. Cummings wasn’t elected, but chosen by the PM to be his go to advisor, pulling most of the strings, making most of the decisions behind the scenes. Just who he is accountable to is a very big question, he appears to pull the PMs strings, disregard police advice, disregard Chief Medical officers advice. And he thought he was rather good at hiding his actions as well, until he got caught out.

Boris has a reputation of being very intelligent. I am sure he can find an answer to our problems with other members of his team. My view is to support our own industries, farmers and country in whatever way we can.

so just because he is a non-conformist we chuck him under a bus
do you have anybody else in mind to replace him right now, bearing in mind that we are going to need many like him who think out of the box to get us up and running again

No...they may have had family of their own that they did not want to leave behind , and at that time i would have thought anywhere but London is where i would have wanted to be we just dont know the true circumstances and people are making it up as they go along, yes he did not abide by the rules, yes it should be made plain to him that his is not acceptable, but chuck him under a bus, no way

What I'm suggesting, as I suspect you actually realise, is that it would have been wiser, and, thinking about it cynically, far easier to justify, a healthy person travelling rather than someone already showing symptoms of the virus.
At the end of the day, whether one supports his actions or not, the fact that they so blatantly undermine the government's message means that he should go, either voluntarily or by his boss' decision.

so have you got anybody else in mind that maybe replace him, maybe somebody from a previous power that threw the keys to the treasury at the incoming chancellor and said "sorry we have spent all the money" we need to crack on not spend what is going to be days wrangling over a misdemeanor obviously reported by somebody who was out to do what i said "chuck him under a bus", and what does it achieve, people of all walks of life, you, me, politicians will still break the rules.

You seem to think it's a party political think, Rufs - it's not. It's about common decency and, as for your repeated "have you anyone else in mind" question, just remember no one is indispensable. The government, whether one supports them or not, is full of intelligent able professionals and to suggest it would all fall apart if one individual were to go is an insult to them surely?

I think Cummings could have avoided this hoo-ha by putting his hands up once the news leaked. He could have made a deeply humble apology, admitted he made a mistake, pointed out his judgement was impaired due to illness and stress and then the incident would probably have quickly blown over with no one calling for his resignation.
However, his arrogance wouldn’t allow him to do that and instead it seems, lies were piled upon lies with the result that he's brought the Govt into disrepute as it rallies around in an attempt to justify his actions and his own reputation lies in shreds in the eyes of most.

I am not saying the guy is indispensable, what i am saying that in my opinion he is a valued member of the current governments think tank, and yes we can replace him but at what cost and for what, something that might i suggest we have all done during this present crisis and that is not follow the guidelines/instructions to the letter of the law, yes he is a senior public figure but might i suggest lots of senior public figures have not followed guidelines/instructions to the letter of the law and they still sit in office.
As for a political thing, all i want is for somebody to get us up and running again as a county. The people voted for the current government and we have to get behind the people in power and the people assisting the people in power, otherwise we will remain a locked down country, simple really

Allow me to give that a huge +1.

Well we're clearly not going to agree on this Rufs, and that's fine, everyone is entitled to express their opinion and at least the last few pages on this subject have remained respectful which is more than can be said for earlier parts of the thread.
I take it you won't be complaining any more, though, about the hordes of visitors you have in your part of the world?

well that is your choice, i believe it is perfectly within the rules to see your family in a public place, e.g. out walking providing you keep to social distancing, so you really do not need to deprive yourself of this pleasure.
as for reporting on here, i only try to highlight how guidelines/rules are being broken and how foolish this maybe, in fact judging by recent figures some of what i have seen possibly was not all bad and that getting out in the sunshine and fresh air has proved beneficial, long may it continue, hopefully.

He is not a member of the government, he is an employee. Should all the people who have been stopped or investigated by the police be sacked or resign, of course not. We shouldn’t forget that there was a 70+ year old politician kept going to parliament at the start of the lockdown, the advice was that 70 plus were at great risk, and the press virtually ignored it

always hold my hand up when i might have got it wrong, look what i just posted

No, presumably her parents said you can isolate here without coming into contact and the sister/whatever was available to look after the child if needed.
Had the sister gone down to London would she have needed separate accommodation/kitchen to isolate from Cummings and co? If so do you think that the press would not have picked up on that?
