We have an Advanced Manufacturing Park not far from us, both McLaren and Rolls Royce based there, huge research centres, working with University of Sheffield. Good to hear both companies involved.

Bless her. They are very good hospitals, saved my OHs life on two occasions. They will be well organised, I think all the C19 cases will be separate from other areas. They have been accepting cases for weeks now, given the population of Sheffield the case numbers are in ratio, low. If it is Northern General, it’s more out of City centre.

i was out driving along the sea front Thursday last going to Alverstoke to dog sit (my last day), Gkids now finished school so they are capable of looking after Pongo. All beach side car parks from Stokes Bay to Stubbington have barriers down or taped off. Walked to beach yesterday with fido (10 mins) police out on patrol obviously on the look out for people not abiding by the rules. Now finding that people who are out exercising are much more friendly even if does mean shouting across and open space. Just me and fido now, so desperatly trying not to come into contact with others.

Like Rufs, I'm in the fortunate position of having a pleasant waterside walk within a couple of hundred yards. I do feel some sympathy for those living in densely built urban areas with little availability for a pleasant walks. Hopefully local councils will see the need for urban parks to remain open to provide a green space for people to exercise.

We also are lucky, having a huge forest area which can be accessed within a 100 metres or so. It must be very difficult for those living in high rise buildings. Even getting out must take ages, as you would have to wait for an empty lift. Unfortunately I think some councils have had to close parks, as folk were congregating in groups and having picnics during that nice weather, as well as playing football etc. Not much chance for a picnic today, it's very windy and cold out there.

bit breezy here (tricky for outdoor table tennis) but not as chilly as later on yesterday, where the wind was distinctly cold....a shock after several lovely days.
like some above, we have very close access to (small, its Somerset) hill walks and can cycle the roundabout route via the Levels to Aldi (8km instead of 3km) for our weekly shop (weve moved from being almost daily)....
i do feel for those who cant do the same or the older/vulnerable who cant for safety reasons....
stick at it, all....

The Pembrokeshire coast path is a short walk from my house, as are several beaches, all the car parks are closed, so the dog and I have several choices, must admit I usually drove to a couple of Favourites, Whitesands and Newport, will appreciate visits to them better in future.
You dont realise what you have until you cannot have it ! that includes just being able to drive off in the Camper to wherever I fancied and stay as long as I wanted...

Lots of nice walks around us thankfully. Main issue for us is dog can’t walk far, and it’s hilly. A bit too hilly to be shoving six stone of lump and his chariot around every day. I am missing our lovely woodland walk though. But the park is great, lots of space, lots of different routes, but all with a climb somewhere. Trees and shrubs are very interesting at the moment, lots of colour, fresh growth. Stunning displays of wild daffodils, fritillaries, etc....

no snow here (virtually ever, these days...) however, just popped into the van (check solar system and batteries...all good, say Hello etc
) and realised i was wrong in my earlier post....its blooming cold, the wind has a kick like a mule...we thought we would take our short walk a little earlier today but it really isnt pleasant at the mo....so we will leave it till later.
gone are the days when our springer hauled us (me) out in all winds and weathers umpteen times a day.....nice to have the choice now
whilst we download a few TV series when in Spain, and OH got me two boxed sets to take, weve been catching up with a few things the 'box' at home recorded while away.....
for some reason we never got into Gavin and Stacey (probably because i know what James Corden is like these days
) however weve been really enjoying going through the whole series...we also reran series 1 of Liar, to reaquaint ourselves with the plot ready for series 2 which we are watching now....
we did the same with the Split which has been enjoyable...
...and finally theres the last series of Death in Paradise just for the locations.....drool.....

I did it the other way round & watched the first two series with Ben Miller .... I'd not realised he was the first copper or that it'd been running for so long. Not sure about Ralf Little yet.

ive seen all the other series, it was just that series 8? recorded while we were away and we are now about halfway through.....not got to the episode where we change DI (again)....

Bakers, both my DIL's are still working.
Our eldest son (the one in the army) is married to a teaching assistant (training to be a teacher) they are the ones who normally have 2 children up here at school. Currently now back home with Dad who is working from home 2 weeks out of 3, his wife is working a rota with other teaching assistants and teachers for those children who's parents have to work.
Our youngest son, living near Penistone, is a visual affects artist for a computer games company in Sheffield, he and his children are now working from home, its his wife who works in the hospital in Sheffield.

Bright sunny day to start with but really chilly out. Still we spent about 3 hours in the garden. Me gardening OH mending the tops of the trellising.
Our next door neighbours were out to, him in his shorts and T shirt, her and the kids rapped up like it was the arctic
They were informing us that they are looking at expanding their property, not sure if they should go up or out, what would we do.
After much discussing it looks like the up might be the winner
hope so. Would we mind if they did? how would we feel about the noise? simple answer from me, "do it while we are away" let's face it they are not going to be able to do it anytime soon, so we will be able to escape in the van once it does start. Nice of them to ask but I fear they would just have gone ahead anyway.Went for a walk after a very late lunch, only saw 1 family out walking.
We have some nice walks where we live, only takes 2 mins to be on the edge of the village, then we can see all the hills that surround us.
Looking towards Glen Shee they still have snow on the tops, wind coming from that direct is flipping cold. Would love to be by the coast though, I always think it feels more open and I could sit watching the sea all day. Would love to sell up and move to the coast.

We are finding alternative walks each day from the house, with today's a 3 miler or so past the Abbey and through Abbeywood gardens. Numerous small climbs en route to ensure we get plenty of exercise.
Re my post yesterday I was just wondering why politics had been brought into this discussion seeing that the OP was about staying at home or going away with ones unit!

Their record on human rights is pretty dreadful too, but we are part of the problem because we keep buying their cheaply made goods. If we all looked at the 'where's it made' label more carefully, we could (as hard as it is) choose another brand. It would be doing the planet a big favour too.

Indeed the prospects of 6 months does present problems. Ours is in storage several miles away, so difficult to even check on it at the moment. Although at least I can see it is still in the compound on my Tracker App😀. The batteries should all remain topped up, as long as nothing goes wrong with the solar system, but I can't do anything about rotating the tyres. Hopefully 🤞If restrictions do carry on for 6 months they might not be as severe as currently. Perhaps it will be permissible to take it for a run round by the end of June.

I have finally 'bitten the bullet' and Sorned my Motorhome (first time i have ever done it !) as it looks as if Touring around and even just going to local beauty spots for a picnic, will be not possible for 6 months or so. A waste for the Road Tax to be just draining away on the driveway, I will of course keep it insured....and well polished ready for the off...when possible.

Viral pathogens do not have a concept of race, borders, countries and thus are totally immune from selection of hosts on this basis.
Bats are known to host a high number of Zoonotic virus strains and indeed are thought as the most likely source of Covid19. Why bats are so good at storing and allowing new mutated strains of virus is not known. It is probable that a bat somewhere in the world (either by biting something or being bitten by something) caused Covid, Mers, Sars, HIV, ebola and rabies.
Why or how you believe the geographical location or the 'ethical work practices' of the nation or peoples first affected by this outbreak can somehow be assigned blame is astonishing.
My take on this is, it is a very sad time for humanity made worse by political leaders who perpetuate the 'scary foreigner' routine popular early in the last century.

Just as long as their Government do as they said and closes ALL so called 'Wet fish markets' which sell everything from endangered species to cats and dogs to eat or for 'mumbo Jumbo' medicine. Or give it a few years and we will be doing this all again. SARS, MERS, Covid19....? either that or hope that cheap Global air travel (which bought this to our shores in the first place) is at an end ?
after all the airlines go bankrupt...hope.
Just holiday locally ! you know it makes sense.
