Mrs M has just had an email from a doctor friend of hers with a bit of advice which I, for one, hadn't heard before.
Her advice is to keep sipping drinks (preferably water!) as regularly as possible. Because that way if you do get a throat infection the bugs are more likely to pass into your stomach, where they will do less damage, than into your trachea.
Anyone else heard that? Does it make sense?

I did read it as a myth, quoted below.
5. Drinking water every 15 minutes
One post, copied and pasted by multiple Facebook accounts, quotes a "Japanese doctor" who recommends drinking water every 15 minutes to flush out any virus that might have entered the mouth. A version in Arabic has been shared more than 250,000 times.Professor Trudie Lang at the University of Oxford says there is "no biological mechanism" that would support the idea that you can just wash a respiratory virus down into your stomach and kill it.
Infections like coronaviruses enter the body via the respiratory tract when you breathe in. Some of them might go into your mouth, but even constantly drinking water isn't going to prevent you from catching the virus.
Nonetheless, drinking water and staying hydrated is generally good medical advice.

Rather like the 'Clap for the NHS' and people posting that the nurses have enough to cope with, without dealing with an outbreak of STIs amongst staff ....

It’s one of the “myths” Moulesy, although keeping hydrated does help. BBC website has an article listing some of the myths, including some sort of silver you drink.
Just keep washing the hands and avoiding all humans you dont live with. The dogs are fine👍

I don’t know what it’s like where you live, mac, but there's so little traffic on the roads down here that it would be a pointless exercise.

Italian results in....
although a slight rise in infections over yesterday, a drop in deaths and, for the fifth day running, both figures lower than the 'peak'.
the tiniest crumb but something to hang onto....hope the 'trend' (if this is what it becomes) comtinues....

When out with Rosa an hour ago met our vicar ,and he said it is very sad what we are going through, and pointed out that ,the death rate is going to be bad , ,he thinks in this country
,I said it seems to be going down in other countries, his answer ,was he had seen that,, but had i thought that as the virus ,is more dangerous for the elderly, with reduced immune systems and underlying health problems as any younger they normally also have underlying health problems ,and as they are the most suseptable,,it may be that virus has attacked most of them, so it is just the stronger that are now surviving hence the death rate is getting lower not because the virus is moving on,as thousands have it without knowing and are still spreading it

I exercised the dog in the churchyard early today, and whilst Mutley sniffed around etc, I took the time to inspect a few headstones, I was lost in my own wee world when the vicar walked from the Manse to the church and called out, 'Morning'.
'No,' I replied, 'Just looking at the headstones ...'

I’d leave the ins as it is. The MH could get damaged in a way not covered by TPF&T and reducing cover can affect your rating with the ins company.
It's an automatic 6 mth extension to MOTs for cars and light vans, including most MHs.

The reason put forward for it being a myth is that this virus attacks through the respiratory system not through the digestive system. So unless you drink through your nose or your eyes the liquid is not going to be of any help!!! As said the BBC News website is a good source of knowledge.

If or when the need arises the NEC at Birmingham, the Manchester Conference Centre and another in Scotland will be converted into similar facilities as those that are being prepared now in London.

Our delivery arrived as promised yesterday so we will survive a couple of weeks now without having to go out. Not everything we wanted came, no great disaster other than no bread.
I took a leaf out of SIL's book this morning and got up earlier than normal and managed to book a Tescos delivery slot for 9 days time.

I’m struggling with the whole shortages thing, weeks ago the retail consortium where stating they’ve upped the production capacity & there was NO shortages, yet there obviously are shortages. Add to that the Supermarkets all have a 2/3 items max in operation. By now it should be a ‘back to normal’ situation, it isn’t in truth-something is amiss somewhere🤷🏻♂️😕
