Coronavirus: Stay or go

Boris Has just said said “stay at home”. They have now ordered the closure of all pubs, clubs, theatres etc, and stressed to avoid non essential travel, but stopped short of saying don’t use your caravan, so carte blanch for some 🙈👎), just at a time when another 40 died in the U.K. today, and hundreds more infected, with a doubling of deaths every three days expected.

Our museum has closed. Sad as they've just opened an exhibition for the centenary of wireless. Should have got there during the last few days instead of 'hunter gatherer' duties 😂. Still at least we can eat for week, I'm not a hoarder.

As I posted way back in this thread, the wife said there’s a big step coming, and it came. I hope to see her occasionally, but the overtime will be nice for when this all clears up.
The next step will be full lockdown because people will find a way to get together and drink/socialise away from pubs, think warehouse parties from back in the 90s.
If you insist on driving around with your caravans or in motorhomes, despite being non essential travel, you haven’t got long to continue doing it before we’re all told to stay at home unless working for essential sectors.

But if you are travelling to get to a site then it is essential isn't it or you would never get there, and what better way to isolate than a nice site with a 6m gap
I have been to a supermarket twice this week and I see that as a greater risk to both myself and anyone I meet than sitting in my MH on a site in the middle of nowhere and not socialising with anyone .

The message today is "Stay at home" so there’s no need to go to any site.👍🏻

Is it, I have not seen that, all I have seen is to basically keep your distance from others and not to meet in groups/pubs/cafe's etc. plus today for all the above to close. I believe all the medics and scientist are saying it is good for both your physical and mental health to exercise and get fresh air etc. Of course if you are in a higher risk category (over 70, underlying medical condition etc) then they are saying to stay in and isolate so perhaps you are muddling your own situation with others?

We are on site and have been for 4ths , reports are now saying we hubby and must voluntary self isolate , not a problem on site in van accasionaly going out for food supplies
,keeping distance without being rude to new and old neighbours on site our age and underlying illnesses require this , already had last hands on visit with grandchildren 1week ago , so I think we are doing what we can . as in previous post no we can't go home , we don't officially have one untill around the 1st may if coved 19 doesn't hold us up ,
This afternoon a number of vans arrived with quite young children , now if these family's have secluded there children from there grandparents where does that leave us , we don't know what part of the country they have come from , it's all becoming very confusing as news reports saying elderly are at highest risk 🤔

No, I'm not muddled. It's near the end of Boris' video.

PS. That’ll be the closed pubs, cafes etc. 😕

We are`nt intending to use the van in the near future and are doing what is asked staying at home, shopping is all done so other than going out over the fields we are sticking to the official line. I can`t really see that if anyone wants to go and sit quietly in their caravan on a Club Site makes them a "super spreader", especially if they have been self isolating at home anyway. I can`t see what all the adverse comments are about. If they do say no travel at all simply pack up and return home.

I've got some sausages, they're in links, any good to ya? Also got some chain links, that's about it.
Folks you need to lighten up and stop bickering, it's not helping at all.
Having lived in total lockdown the past fortnight I can tell you it's not a pleasant experience. WE need to share information not score points folks

Here is what the FICC say:
Stay home –but travel tomorrow According to WTO tourism and especially outdoor tourism is uniquely placed to lead future recovery. Our sector will provide the jobs people need to bounce back and will drive economic growth that will help whole communities and countries to recover. But for now we must be patient and stand ready. By staying home today, we can travel tomorrow. Travelling tomorrow will support jobs, celebrate culture and promote international friendship and understanding.

FWIW-I think the word ‘tomorrow’ is a figure of speech meaning in the future. Apologies PD I thought I’d point that out for the hard of understanding👍🏻

As an organisation that continues to advocate "Unecessary travel" with the potential to spread the disease from its prime locations his club should be bared from receiving any government bail outs when matters are eventually resolved. It may therefore not be around to benefit from the upturn " tomorrow". Most sensible members will therefore suffer

FWIW ....
We saw the situation and lockdown strengthen day by day & hour by hour in Spain & then France in the last two weeks or so prior to our rapid return to UK.
The UK is behind Spain with this CV19 issue so far and no-one knows what restrictions may or may not be introduced. Given the lack of concern showed by many so far I can see changes in UK are ahead.
Your choice.

I posted this on another discussion and I make no apologies for posting it again. Devon and Cornwall MPs, Councils and Tourism Boards are asking that people don't holiday/stay in these counties. We have a very high elderly population and fewer hospitals than the cities. Our supermarkets can't cope as it is. Their message is Don't Self Isolate Here! Stay Away! Holiday sites and camps here have mostly closed and even second home owners have been asked to stay away. How can some people believe that driving a caravan/motorhome across the country is complying with - Stay at Home? This is serious, please don't be selfish. Have you heard of Eyam? And as for the C&MC staying open - it beggars belief.

I posted similar here yesterday, Debsc. Thanks for repeating it - the point has been hard to get across.

The Cornwall MP has just been on Sky News telling people to stay away, and asking all holiday parks and hotels to close. Why is the CAMC being so stubborn? I really cannot understand how they are so reluctant to follow sensible action and close sites across the U.K.

Yep, he gets a 👍 from many of us.

Hotels provide essential accomodation for those working in many industries and businesses ..... as do caravan sites to a lesser extent. For some, depending on location, their main income is from such users and hence why some charge less at weekends.

Not sure exactly how recent this report is but it seems, even now, some companies haven't learned the lesson!

I have decided not to travel it doesn't make me clever, I have listened to the medical advise on tv and made my decision, we are all in for a rough ride. lets get behind the goverment and the nhs who are doing all they can to save our country we are only two weeks away from a spike in this virus that will bring home the message to all of us. keep safe folks.
