The virus is not noticeable for a couple of days?so why would anyone take a non essential journey to a site ,and give even more problems to the staff on site, when the virus becomes notice able ,surprised

    Hi,

I manage a large CAMC site in the Lake District. We are still welcoming many of our members to site. Everyone is using common sense and taking the relevant hygiene rules seriously. We as staff are doing our best to make sure site facilities are as clean as possible for us and our guests. If we all pull together and respect boundaries we hope more of our customers will join us.

Ladies and Gentlemen (not sure I can say that these days without including others!), I have a suggestion. This thread shows there are obvious splits as to how to observe government guidelines, bringing some members in conflict with others, and perhaps we have been tearing lumps out of each other. If I may, I would suggest both sides (a bit like Brexit!) will stick doggedly to their views even if this thread continued for weeks/months, so perhaps it’s time to call it a day. We all love caravanning, and the freedom it gives us to travel far and wide - that at least is something we can agree about, so with that in mind, I am not going to post any longer, and hope that within a relatively short period of time we can ALL get back to being comfortable visiting our favourite CAMC sites.

Will these so called self isolators on site stay in their Vans? Will they  need to go out for supplies etc, putting their hands on fuel pumps thus getting in contact with others. Dont you think the shops, doctors surgeries etc have enough to cope with serving the locals without some others, perhaps bringing the virus with them, putting more pressure on. Selfish people.

I don't know about others but I clean my hands after shopping at present and again after putting away and after taking out to use.

I won't be wearing gloves but I shall wash my hands after use. I do not expect such surfaces to be sterile ..... do you?

I do not need to socialise on site. Might converse bit it is normally at a distance of over two metres anyway. Why sit in the van if their are rural or coastal walks.

People aren’t sitting in a caravan, isolating and not going out. Plenty are still happy to visit a pub so being conscious of travelling around the country in their leisure vehicles doesn't enter their minds.

i took a look at the Keswick Town Council webcam for 10 mimutes or so this afternoon, counted around 20-30 entering or leaving the Bank Tavern pub.

Whilst there is probably a majority taking on board the Government requests, there will always be those that don’t. Not helped by organisations such as this or the other Club who are encouraging people to continue holidaying.

In previous times I would not have been concerned about washing my hands straight after operating a water tap to fill up or after coming back with shopping.

Our cars are only used every few days but we treat them as not being sanitised as they are little used at just a mile to shops.

For all you flamers out there you'll be glad to know I have cancelled all my motorhome trips until at least summer, no its not because of this thread, nor is it because I am 'scared' of staying on a well run and looked after club site.

The reasons I have cancelled is due to the places we were going to visit from the sites will be closed, (although parks will be open and free) as well as our plan to visit younger family members which IS against gov advice (touring and camping is still allowed)

Oh, there is no food in the shops to stock the Motorhome up with either...……..

So its on to plan B...…..fettling the living area and engine bay, fit a more efficient split charge system, weld new sills into the 'van' and do some undersealing!

We are currently following club protocols and looking after our members who wish to stay on site. If the situation changes we will adhere to the club’s and governments advice.

But the advice of the Club and Government are at odds with each other, so it must be a bit of a conundrum for you. Which one takes priority?

The Club says travel and the Gov says only travel if it is essential. It's never going to be essential if it's for pleasure.

Must be a difficult circle to square.

    Tinners,

quite simply I would be rude and tell them to stay away, I do this here at home, when shopping or walking the dog, and someone walks into my 'space'  most people are already sensitive to keeping their distance.  It can be done, but has to be done carefully, with thought given to anything and everything you touch.

I can now become the miserable recluse I always wanted to be, and yet be doing 'the right thing'

    Bah Humbug !
