Matt Hancock, Health Secretary on BBC/Sky this morning, just 30 minutes ago. I guess you don’t want to believe me.

Just watched the Sky News report from inside the hospital again. OMG, it’s truly horrendous. I urge all those thinking of going away to watch it - If it doesn’t change your mind I will be surprised.

You know I'm one of the biggest stay-at-home-and-close-the-sites supporters and have been making my feelings very clear for days but let's try to avoid getting the thread closed. We want to continue having a platform to discuss our views in the faint hope of reaching out to the deniers.

Sorry, that sounds a bit sanctimonious.

We cancelled our trip to Melrose this weekend as we do not consider this as essential travel. But living close to Old Hartley site there were a lot of others who do seem to view it as essential travel there yesterday.

And most of them seemed to be of the older generation who are supposed to be wiser than the rest. These are the folks who will force the government to place us all in lockdown and then winge about it.

I am well aware of the suffering Rufs and we doubtless will suffer the same fate as have many countries.

I ask for links not because I disbelieve but to be able to validate.

On the vexed subject of travel, the Guardian reports that UK Bus operators have lost some £50 million per week in revenues since the crisis began. The industry employs 100,000 drivers and 120,000 support staff and there are fears of large scale lay offs unless a financial support package is provided by Central Government. Lost bus services have a habit of disappearing, especially in rural communities...

It will be interesting to see what measures across the wider economy will be announced later today by the Chancellor to minimise the shrinkage of economic activity.

and until such time, its all fake news isn’t it. Some people need the reassurance of officialdom and are unable to make an informed judgment without it.

Looking at the late availability for this weekend ,   ,it seems by the very large amount of availability on sites (and most will still only be useing the hardstand areas,   grass pitches not in use yet?)the  majority of the membership (who are normally out at this time of year )  are more "up to speed " with what is considered a responsible attitude at this time   ,than the accountants at the club

And as I've pointed out to you elsewhere

That is probably because you treat them with greater respect! undecided

(And I say that as someone who agrees with your point of view on this but dislikes intensely the unnecessarily and counter productively  insulting way you express it!)

For the absence of doubt, the report was from a Sky News reporter and cameraman that was invited into the hospital by the Italian authorities to show the rest of the world just how bad it can be, and in particular the U.K. as to what is coming down the road to us. They reckon we are about three weeks behind Italy. The report was shocking, and lasted some 5 or 6 minutes.

How about people living locally to cc sites start contacting the club and ask them to stop encouraging members to travel from all over the country to the sites?

think we should be careful, we might, in a round about way though  unintentionally, be encouraging the setting up of vigilante groups, placing themselves at the entrance to sights, and that would not be good. undecided, however, i think most people are starting to get the message

Just let the Daily Mail know, they are desperate for stories where Government advice is being ignored, by individuals, groups, businesses. 👍

    It seems so, Dave.

Our MP has just appeared live on the local BBC news stating that holiday travel is definitely non-essential and that holiday makers and second home owners should not travel to our region. He urged them to stay at home and also urged holiday accommodation owners to act responsibly and not encourage visitors to the area.

He said he has been in contact with No10 about financial aid for holiday businesses and asking for public clarification of the guidelines regarding non-essential travel.

If his interview appears later on the BBC website, I will post a link.

Mrs WN brought my attention to the situation of second homers arriving en masse in Southwold, Suffolk and strolling around the town just like it's a normal Bank Holiday. Most of these newly arrived have come from the South East and London and are either taking a holiday break or "working from home".

The article showed the difference with Lowestoft just along the coast which they pointed out was not very busy at all. It's not a popular spot for buying second homes.

So these people are just ignoring guidelines with a couldn't care less attitude.

I'm not fussed on Nanny states but needs must and it's about time the Government stopped relying on the intelligence of the Great British people. There are too many numpties out there.

Stay safe in Cornwall. It's the right message.

Wherenext- The epicenter of the virus is London. It beggars belief how stupid and self centered some people are. We have the same problem here with second homers moving to the country, putting our limited resources under pressure and probably spreading the disease.Italy & Spain obviously told them nothing. This club should not be given financial aid as they willfully kept sites open to generate income when common sense said shut. When reviews are eventually taken the Head honco 's contract needs reviewing and his non action accounted for.

Expecting folks and businesses to be sensible, be accountable was never going to work for everyone. By next weekend I expect to see a big police and possibly military presence around to reinforce the advice, and give it some nasty teeth.

I am all for democracy, little state interference, but during a crisis situation, the requirements of the many supersede the wants of the few. Asking nicely should only been done once, after that time to get rough.

Two hospitals in London have now reached a critical situation, meaning they can not cope with more patients due to a massive increase in infection. Yet still the virus is being pedalled across the country unnecessarily.  No doubt those spreading the virus will happily blame the government for lack of preparation for such a disease.  The Club is really behaving badly here, and local communities  will not welcome caravans when this all dies down. There will be a lot of bad feeling.

Just had a email from our city council. All their centres not reopening after the close of business tonight. Sensible decision I think.

Hope the club sees sense soon.

Totally agree about second home owners needing to stay in their main residence..

Just listen to the Government new conference now. Tells you all and states what is our individual responsibility. It could not be plainer but the usual suspects will still ignore it
