You’re not the only one, Steve, and it’s shameful. Yes, the club can help and I'll report your post to bring it to Rowena's attention.

Steve, I don't know if Laura Cass, as quoted could help you out.

I believe she's at East Grinstead?

OK. Haven't posted on this thread since I got my double dip sorted but thought I would since I got my new card.

Anyway, looks to have been a few changes since I first signed up.

    1. You can register a credit card rather than a debit card. Great, means more protection for us users as the charge back process is better than with debit cards in case of dispute. Also means you're not immediately left out of pocket in case of mistakes.

    2. The letter says we can benefit from discounted fuel at all Esso stations across the UK and Europe. Really??? The emails I got before the card arrives only mention the UK. Could be useful for motorway fill ups in France but think I would like to see someone volunteer as a guinea pig before I try. By the time you come to pay at the kiosk you're already committed to buying the fuel so if the card doesn't work you pay full motorway price.

    3. Looks like myessocard is dead. As I suspected before, I think esso may have looked unkindly to them using their name.

    4. The cost benefits to me locally is negligible as the current offer price is the same as my local supermarkets. Only benefit is that my esso garage is on my way to work so don't have to detour off my route to fill up. When the offer first came out I was saving about 5p litre over supermarkets. It's certainly a card I will keep in my wallet though even though it will get used few and far between.

    5. The website works properly!!! It's a small thing but that's the difference sometimes when looking at new companies. (Mind you still a broken link to the privacy policy in the T&C's)

    6. Speaking of T&C's looks like these are changed again. No mention of minimum spend/fill up anymore

As I've said before this offer isn't for everyone and you're not forced to use it but it could be a good offer which has been let down by shambolic administration. Hopefully that is now sorted out.

NPH asked PK the question about prices abroad up thread, I believe.

I'm sure you'll find the responsewink

I share the views of others that when I first received my card back in November I was saving 8-10p per litre. Now all my local Esso garages are 127.9p a litre for diesel and has been for the past 4 weeks yet the pump king price had risen almost every week since xmas when it was 119.9p As more CAMC customers come on board you would expect the savings to increase due to increase buying power in the market. Im feeling more like Pump King is simply profiteering off our loyalty. Supermarket prices locally are considerably lower, however back in Nov and Dec the Pump king price was comparable to them sometimes even a penny less. I will be interested to read our CAMC accounts to see if they are taking profits from our loyalty to the fuelcard instead of passing the savings onto us, its members. Perhaps the T&C's should guarantee us at least a 2p per litre saving on pump price instead of the measly penny. Come on PUMP KING and CAMC deliver on your promises!!!!

You're lucky that your local Esso pump price is 127.9p. Round my way it's 134.9 and that's the one next door to Tesco's which is 126.9 who are lowest in the area. Same price as the Pump King offer price

Got my card last Thursday despite being called to say my details were not complete at which point I told the caller to cancel.

Went on the website to registered and came across the trusted pilot reviews, see below.  On that basis not going to bother and will cut up the card

I read a few of the reviews and, while at least one is also a poster here, it’s interesting to see others from non-CAMC sources have received the same shabby treatment.

The only way to save money by using the card, if yours has arrived, would be if filling on the motorway. But, out of interest, how many motorway service areas in the UK sell Esso and where are they?

not true, it depends on where you live or what type of fuel you prefer to use, i for one am not a lover of supermarket fuel, the nearest petrol station to me is a shell station currently £1.31 for regular diesel, nearest Esso station, same distance as Shell station, £1.26 if i use fuel card. Agree with many posts, that this promotion has been shambolic, but hey ho!, going forward if it saves me some cash which it has done since last November, the past 3 months will be of little consequence, except when considering other club promotionsundecided

In the early 1960s, Esso refused to become the operator of any motorway service areas.  They still don't have very many...

    Blyth (A1(M)/A1)
    Cardiff West (M4)
    Carnforth truckstop (M6/A601(M))
    Cherwell Valley (M40/A43)
    Eurotunnel UK Terminal (M20)
    Gloucester (M5) (southbound only)
    Magor (M4)
    Maidstone (M20)
    Pont Abraham (M4)
    Ross Spur (M50/A449/A40)
    Scotch Corner (A1(M)/A66)
    Stafford (M6) (southbound only)
    Tamworth (M42/A5)
    Tebay (M6)
    Thurrock (M25/A13/A282)

If you can remember what I said, I think it provides the key!

    Now watch these go…

I see Trust Pilot is mentioned by the club in the Membership section on the main tool bar, where posts receive a lot of attention. In fact social media appears to be keeping everyone very busy but is it helpful or off-putting to see so much activity? Would better direct communications generally improve the situation, it seems like fire fighting to me?

There is a minimum 1p saving on the fuel card, that is the bottom line and if Esso is your only fuel supplier you have this option.

Gloucester M5 is also Northbound I believe.

The eurotunnel could be a handy one to remember. Come straight off the train and fill up. Just need to keep an eye on the price of the Intermarche in Coquelles.

I wonder if the 1p savings would work if you fill up on the continent and the cost per litre is significantly less than the texted UK price?  I am assuming that the 1p savings would also apply to ROI?

The mention of motoway service areas reminds me just how good The Caravan Club offer with Roadchef actually is.  No hassle, worthwhile savings, and no special card required. Should anyone from Head Office actually take any notice of what is written on here on CT, then that is what ALL offers should be like.

i think if you look way way back i believe there is a post from eccomerce1 that states that you can use the card on the continent but you would have to pay pump prices, the fuel card i think only saves you transaction costs, but if you have a decent Visa card etc then you do not pay these anyway.

i usd the card for the first time at my local Esso garage. The till receipt showed a pump price of £1.169 / litre.  The receipt received online showed a pump price of £1.91.  invoice price of £20.52 at the forecourt, yet £20.90 on the online invoice.

The price this week on the "offer" is 1.20 odd per litre, at the forecourt its still £1.16.

This might be useful on the motorway, if it worked ,but otherwise totally useless, seemingly to actually cost money rather than save it.

Isn't it mentioned  in the T&Cs for Pumpkin that they will still give a discount of £0.01p if the price is the same or lower so one should still get a discount even on fuel on the continent?

Surfer, NPH posted this a while ago, may be of some help to you.

Doesn't look like the 1p saving applies "sur le continent"?

Sounds like to need to challenge them.  And shows the importance of keeping the receipts!

"In the unlikely event that the pump price is lower than the My Esso Card special rate members are guaranteed to save 1p per litre on the pump price. "

i too have a discrepancy with pump king offer see below

the very first top up using the card

I have the till receipt for £58.17 and they debited my account for £58.35

As you are aware Pump King My Esso Card operates on weekly fixed prices.

The rate of saving is an average across teh whole country but will vary from fuel station to fuel station as they charge different prices.

Occsaionally a station will be charging at the same or slightly lower than the Pump King fixed weekly price. Customers are advised to check the forecourt price agaisnt the Pump King price for the week before making purchases, and to pay by alternative means if necessary, so that they are not disadvantaged.

    Regards,

    Rob
