    I filled up last night and used the card. The use of the card was on the basis of saving 1p on the pump price, as the current Pump-King price is more than the pump price at my local Esso. I will keep a close eye on what I am charged. I think the Club needs to comment on this, as they are saying we will save "a minimum of 1 pence per litre"!

    So to sum up the current situation...

    • I'm no longer clear what Ts&Cs apply (they've changed several times without the proper notice)
    • The weekly price seems less competitive
    • Some people are finding their PINs seem insecure, and the PIN cannot be changed
    • The card seems to be valid across Europe, but the terms of that are not clear
    • and now the caravan club promises of 'a minimum saving of 1p on pump price' are not being met.

    Sounds like a job for trading standards to me!

    Whilst I seriously considered signing up for this offer around 5/6 weeks ago I am soooo glad I didn't. My commiserations to those members who have signed up and are now, err....less than happy about the offer.

    Interesting to note, in the latest CC magazine there doesn't appear to be any adverts for this shambolic offer. Have the Club management finally taken notice of the 1200+, mainly negative postings on this thread and taken action? 

    Heaven help us if ever a force of 'van and MH eating Martians invaded our world and we turned to the Club for advice on protecting our assets. Methinks there would be a lot of bloated and overstuffed Martians about before we got a response from the Club!wink

    As a first time contributor to this forum, although a CAMC member for several years, I feel it's worth telling people about my practical experience with this scheme. I was admittedly dubious after applying for a fuel card shortly after Christmas and being one of the thousands of members who didn't get one. The many doom-laden comments on this forum made me even more concerned. 

    But after the chaotic launch, it appears Pump-King have got their act together. My card finally arrived in the week starting February 18 (I think a day later than promised) and it was a simple matter to activate it through my account on the PK website. I topped up with premium diesel  on February 23 at my local Esso station in Shrewsbury which had a pump price 10p a litre higher than last week's PK price of £1.348 sent weekly to my phone.  My receipt was for £71.67. I received an email from PK showing a grand total of £66.67 and this is confirmed in the my account section of the website. So a decent saving and thankfully the system appears to be working, at least for me so far.

    I have just returned from a holiday in Cornwall having filled up today with regular diesel for the journey home. That Esso filling station had a 2p a litre cheaper pump price than most I saw in Cornwall but this week's PK price of £1.269 was another 4p cheaper still. This was a saving of just under £3 for a tank full of regular. I can't compare with supermarket prices because my home Sainsburys has closed its filling station for refurbishment and I didn't see any supermarket filling stations in Cornwall.

    No we didn’t see one! We were coastal path walking on the Roseland Peninsula. But I think we could have filled up at Sainsburys if we had driven to the western side of Truro.

    But my point is that Rowena’s claimed savings on her opening entry to this discussion seem to be borne out by my practical experience. It’s early days but my  Esso card experience is positive. I got a decent discount and the PK system seems finally to be working properly. I will be back on if things go belly up.

    Or a choice of two supermarkets if you'd gone to the slightly closer St Austell. What is thin on the ground in Cornwall is Esso garages which is part of the reason I haven’t applied for a card and, although you might be happy, I’m very pleased to have escaped the hassle incurred by others.

    Every Esso station I passed on the A303 had different fuel prices, it isn't a level playing field even for those who use the card. smile

    By the way, the A303 is closed overnight from 8pm to 6am for quite a distance over the next three weeks, so travellers beware of diversions approaching Wincanton.

    I originally applied for a card back in December, and have been keeping an eye on this thread since.

    I didn't receive one of the 'original' cards, but somewhat annoyingly I haven't yet received one of the new cards either.

    Emails to PK just result in the bland "we are working as quickly as we can"-type response, and I now see on the C&MC website that "...card despatch may take up to 28 working days" (but from when?)

    It's also implied that only those who received one of the 'original' cards were included in the '19th February' sendout of new cards - has anybody experienced differently?

    I can't quite believe that I SORNed my van for Jan and Feb., somewhat frustrated that I hadn't had a card in time for my final run-out of the year (and the prize draw), and yet I probably still won't have one for my first trip of the year on Saturday frown

    The Esso station around the corner from my house doesn't appear on the map on the PK website, but when I queried that with PK, they replied within a day assuring me that it would be OK.  Go figure...

    You have only had the card for about two weeks so have not experienced any double dipping or card being declined for no reason however are you aware that since you signed up the T&Cs have changed at least three times however you are still bound to the T&Cs at the time you signed up no matter what the new T&Cs state unless of course they have notified you of the new T&Cs and given you the chance to opt out.

    If everything ran smoothly and the Pumpkin heads got their act together before the card was launched then there would not be over 1200 negative posts and there would be 1200 positive post!

    We stopped using our card for awhile and filled up at BP service station however we have used the new replacement for the past two weeks and at the moment no issue.

    However the T&Cs are still an issue as the original one still applies to us and many other people.

    So, if I'm reading the message from Rory Spurway aka Rob or Rob aka Rory Spurway correctly,

    If the pump price is less than the PK FIXED price then don't use the card but pay with another means.

    If it's more than the PK FIXED price use the Fuel Card??

    I have very little doubt that there isn't any 1p saving off any pump price below the FIXED weekly price!undecided

    Love the fact that the message  from PK was signed by ROB wink Very apt!

    Being curious I have looked at this week's version of the T&Cs - no mention of the 1p guaranteed saving!

    The "offer" page (found by following the link on Rowen's OP reads

    Save on fuel across the country
    Members save on average 5p per litre off Diesel Unleaded and 8p per litre off Premium Diesel and Premium Unleaded against the pump price

    We are delighted to announce the launch of a new Pump-King membership card, to help drive down the cost of touring. Members are guaranteed to save on fuel at the largest network of Esso stations across the UK.

    Again no mention of the 1p guaranteed saving!

    So, what is the real life situation? PLEASE can we have clarity from Rowena, Laura Cass or Tolga Dervish?

    I would like to bring it to the attention of all that if you signed up under earlier T&Cs and have not been notified of any changes the original T&Cs still stand and you should still get the 1p discount.  I have also noticed that the saving has now dropped to 3p from 5p so a big difference.

    I think that the CC are hanging their heads in shame regarding this debacle and those responsible have gone into hiding and refusing to answer any questions.

    The 1p saving is still mentioned on the sign up page at https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/membership/member-offers/fuel-card/

    If you go to the bit mentioned "Terms and conditions" you will find it there!

    I think from a PK perspective and possibly the club, the 1p discount is the least of their worries. If you look on the web it is not just club that have jumped into bed with PK, I have a forces discount card and was offered a similar offer which by all reports has also turned to rats S***.  I think all staff at East Grinstead have jumped ship.undecidedHave to  say my card still working correctly and saving me money, but i do keep a close eye on invoices/money debited from my bank.

    Are you looking at an old version of T&Cs? The current version you see when you click on the Terms and Conditions link at the bottom of your Profile page is the one I have quoted. They are very different to the screen shot yo have used.

    That screenshot I posted is from the CC signup page, before you get to the Pump-King page. It was taken just before I posted it. Rather stupidly I don't have the PDF from the T&Cs from when I signed up!

    Any update whether the transaction has gone through okay on the credit card?

    I would also like to know why moderators have chosen to remove the content of so many posts on pages 120 and 121 including posts from Rowena?  It would be helpful to know to avoid it happening again.

    At the risk of asking a stupid question, why do the T&Cs on the club sign up page differ from the ones on the PumpKing page. Which is correct Rowena?

    I don't know that the 1p was ever in the contract that PK published. but it is certainly on the 'Terms and Conditions' section at the bottom of this page https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/membership/member-offers/fuel-card/

    Disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer...

    From the T&Cs on Pump-King website at the moment:
    3.4  A discount will automatically be applied to all transactions and applies to all Fuel.

    Seems hard to see how a "discount" is being applied if people are charged at the Pump-King rate if the pump price is lower.

    I have noticed that there is an easy way to end this debacle!

    "PK Fuel Limited has the right to verify that fuel membership card customers have a valid and active Club membership, in order to receive the benefits of the fuel membership card. Any void or lapsed Club memberships will result in a cancelled fuel membership card."

    I think I may well be availing myself of this option in the near futureundecided
