We went to Worthing this morning, collected the Shogun from there and drove it around Long Furlong in lovely sunshine. Then swapped over to the Smart car again to go shopping at Durrington Tesco Extra. We found lamb at half price there, so it's going to be Roast Lamb for dinner tonight!

When we got back to our outfit, the sun was streaming through the front window of the awning, so it was lovely and warm for me to sit out in the relaxer for the first time in a few days. It felt like summer! Then we had lunch followed by my afternoon nap to regain some energy for tonights 4 hour shift.

    Get well soon, EasyT.

cool Where's and B2,Hi .My 'new tool'  (an electrically powered one !!surprised) ,,,,is a recipricating saw or known as a 'Sabre Saw' .A straight blade exudes from the front of the body a bit like a hacksaw blade ,which operates by going in and out at varying speeds to suit the work load .

The weather here is SO so cold now.Clouds lifted and brilliant sunbeams ,BUT but Oh !! that biting NWxN wind is evil. !! So home early to get 'things' ready for another Saturday and Sunday at "Black Horse Farm" at Densol Nr Folkestone wind down week end etc .wink.

                                         Anybody passing ??

Well that's me indoors for the evening now. I went into our adult college for my landscape history class this morning and then did a bit of shopping in the market. Waited 15 minutes for the bus home in a biting north wind. I then drove over to Crowland to fetch two grandsons from school this afternoon and stood for another 10 minutes in the same biting cold wind in the playground. We are now home in front of the fire and I don't intend to venture out again today

Gritters were in our road last night, woke up to dry but bitterly cold northerly wind which madam did not bother about and has not on her latest walks,  even though it has been even colder and as our walks take us via open ground on a north facing hill, its nice to be back indoors , well i think so, not sure about the four legged  "person"

One"highlight ?"was her joining in a race round the cricket ground with one of the school children on a bicycle two running plus Rosa until she realised I was the other side of the cricket ground at wich point she peeled of towards me and strait into the path of one of the runners who went flat on his face much to the enjoyment of all the others looking on, (they congregate  under one of the very old oak trees every day rain or shine on route home from school)

That wind sure cuts through you 🌬❄🌬. I trust you are thawing out milliehull.

We ventured over to pay our motorhome storage and took the opportunity check our motorhome, all well thankfully. But we didn't hang about in the wind at all. It did dry my washing nicely though.

The very small amount of Christmas decs OH bought down from loft are up. We are discussing 😉 fetching down the larger of our fibre optic trees 😃

JVB66 I certainly don't miss dog walking in these bitter conditions, but that said it' never as bad as you fear if you have dressed appropriately for the weather. And you feel better for a bracing walk - unlike standing in it.

Bright with blue sky but very chill in Northerly wind.  Drove down to Brandon and rewarded with brilliant views of the Parrot Crossbills.  Skulked around here but now cosy in the van.  I am sparing a thought for Mrs One who is winter camping with her cub group, fortunately they won’t be under canvas.

Ohh Helenandtrevor your cosy caravan sounds like bliss. I love getting settled in with the heating on, good food and wine. There's nothing better. Enjoy.

We had an electrician here today fitting a plinth heater in the kitchen. It's made a world of difference. The kitchen is warm and a pleasure to be in now. Two north facing walls and a concrete floor make it a cold room. Will it make me cook more..........??? wink

We have an electric plinth heater, fitted when our 'new' kitchen went in nearly 5 years ago. I don't often put it on, we only have a small kitchen and if the oven is on it can warm quickly, but it is bliss when needed. We had a red tiled concrete floor which now has a wooden overlay but it's still cold on your feet - not so when the heater is on 😉.

Do you need to do more cooking?

The plinth heaters are very effective.  I recently fitted one in our quite large dining kitchen as we removed the radiator to use the wall space for more cupboards.

As the pipes were already there, I have fitted one connected to the CH and it is working surprisingly well, and is more "intelligent" than I had anticipated.

I have left the original TRV in place, so that controls when heat is needed, and the fan on the plinth heater only operates when the hot water reaches the pipes in the heater.  Low fan seems to work well.

My only problem is that when I tested it before installation it was quite quiet in operation, but now it is installed there is a bit of a "whistling" noise, I think possibly that comes when it pulls in the air through the vent in the plinth, possibly it is too small.

I have ordered a second vent cover and will make a second  opening in the plinth to see if that cures it.  The kitchen is above our bedroom, so when the CH comes on in the morning you can hear when the fan starts up.  I expect we will get used to it.

Today I have put some panelling on the exposed end of the new units, so all that is left to do now is box in the exposed piece of CH pipe from where  it exits the floor to where it disappears under the units.

After that it is over to OH for cleaning up and taking the units into use.

Glad you have arrived safe and sound Helen and Trevor. Looking forward to seeing you, as long as we are not all snowed in ❄ 🌞 Enjoy your cosy evening🍷

Mr H had to wait 40 minutes for a bus home from town this afternoon - it is supposed to be a 10 minute service 😠.  He has only just thawed out.

    What's an electric plinth heater?

An electric fan heater that sits under your kitchen(or bathroom) units and blows the hot air out through a vent in the plinth front.

Sometimes known as a 'kick heater', cos you tend to use your foot on the controls 😉😉

It's like as free standing fan heater but installed in the plinth that is usualy at floor leval under the kitchen or bathroom cabinets, can also be connected to the central heating system with just a blower fan to distribute the heat

Woke to a covering of snow and very cold. However it's been a lovely sunny day with a light breeze. Relatively warm with it at our back but chilly when walking into it. Walk up in the snow to Crina Bottom, at the foot of Ingleborough, but didn't go much higher as OH doesn't do icy conditions under foot!! Back across the fields and through the caravan site back to Ingleton and onto the van. Got all things ready for our move tomorrow. Clear shy tonight so well have a hard frost by the morning I guess.

Glad to hear that you got to FM safe and sound and are now tucked up nice and warm in the van, H&T.

Hope that you manage to get out of your road tomorrow morning WN and that you're journey's without mishap.

Hope that you've had a better day than yesterday, brue.

I've just got up and put the kettle on for a pot of tea.

I had a busy evening at work yesterday but it quietened down after 9 p.m. so they let me off 15 minutes early.

    I'll be doing 6 to 10 p.m. tonight.

Hard frost last night but cosy in van, bacon sarnies and coffee on the go.  Will be out early as I need to return home for the evening. Will stop off at a couple of reserves on the way, before meeting up with Mrs One for dinner then return to CL tonight.

Have woken up to a hard frost but a lovely sunrise over the site.

Heard from youngest son last night, he made it home from Scotland ok yesterday, said they travelled through quite a bit of snow, and sent pictures to prove it.😯

Really glad we chose a new van with Alde heating, keeps the van lovely and warm, an improvement from our last van.

Off into Peterborough today, serious retail therapy 😉 and a look round the new Christmas market.

Keep warm and enjoy the day everyone. ☺

Both cars needed re-fuelling, so we went into Worthing this morning to collect the Shogun and take it to Tesco Extra in Durrington. The bill came to over £93.76. Then we swapped cars to re-fuel the Smart car, cost £23.20. So total of £116.96. I remember the days when you could buy a new car for that!

Sorry all. I logged off last night and didn't come back on to read any replies. The plinth heater is fantastic. I will try to post a picture. Ours is run by electric as we didn't have any central heating pipes nearby to connect to. It has two power settings so we're using the higher one to initially warm the kitchen through and then turning to the lower setting to keep the temperature constant. It's the best thing we've ever thought of! Especially as the weather for our part of the country is heavy snow for most of tomorrow.....I shall be snuggled up in my kitchen possibly baking some mince pies......
