It's that time of year again when I start getting busy running quiz nights. One tonight near Chew Valley and then one on Wednesday at Carnon Downs, so a good excuse for another week in Cornwall. Both of these are for Arthritis Research. Sadly, two of the other groups I run quizzes for have folded - it's difficult to get new folk to give up their time to join committees and unfortunately it's not a particularly "fashionable" charity. frown

But it does mean I've  got a bit of time on my hands, so if any of you are charity fundraisers or know someone who is and would like a quiz night arranged, you know where to come, especially if it can be tied in with a break away in the van! wink

Another beautiful sunny cold day here in Stonehaven, the North East seems to be getting the good weather for a change.

Lazy morning today as I didn't have a great nights sleep, feeling a bit better now though after going for a walk into town for fresh supplies and a short cycle along the sea front, very bracing. I love being by the sea wish I could live somewhere overlooking it.

Site is filling up now with the week enders, biggish queue at reception before 12.00 with more arriving all afternoon. There is a bonfire and fireworks event on Saturday night, from past experience of it they should have a good time.

Heading back home tomorrow, going back via the tourist coastal route for a change and home through Dundee. When its nice weather its a pleasant drive.

Finished making some thermal blinds for cab windows and windscreen from some radiator reflective lining, windscreen reflectors and several rolls of duct tape. Total cost about £12.  It will be interesting to see how they work or whether I shall have to bite the bullet and shell out for TaylorMade Screens.

It was a really nice warm autumn day here in London. So much so I cut the grass, possibly the last time this year. Had a letter to post so we took the dogs for a walk, On the way back we met our neighbour  who asked why the younger one was on a lead. I explained that he didn't have the road sense that the 8 year old had. As we turned in to our road, still chatting with the neighbour I un-clipped his lead only for him to spot  a cat in the distance. So neighbour got a demonstration as well cool

Fine sunny day here near Winchcombe. Parked at Hailes Abbey (closed for the winter) and did a 6ml circular walk, some of it on the Cotswold Way, up past Beckbury Camp. Great views across the Vale of Evesham and over to the Malvern Hills. Managed another hour sat reading outside of the van in the sunshine on our return, still warm enough for shorts and T-shirt.laughing

We've got up to a rather dull and grey morning here in Littlehampton. It's been raining on and off too. We will be going to the Worthing site to swap cars and get the Shogun here to hitch up and return to Northbrook Farm site for the last two days of our seasonal pitch. So a busy morning ahead and working this evening too, 6.30 to 10.30.

Last night I finished at 10.30 and got back to my pitch at 10.55 p.m., five minutes before the 11 p.m. deadline!

Delighted to say we have a good steady rain here, just what the ground needs. Was raining when we went to bed too so hopefully it will replenish the ground and our water butts 😆.

Amazingly the road gang are laying the tarmac for our footpath 😲. I assume they know what they'e doing 😉.

Son due at some point during daylight hours for hubby's birthday tomorrow,  sadly alone partner drilling the fields, this may change if it's wet there but who knows? Hope I do get notice as the shrubs I bought her for Christmas are outside my backdoor- better camouflage them while I remember 😂. No dog, unless she comes, as he' playing golf with local mates on Monday. Should be nice family Skype tonight, nearest I'll get to us all being in the same room for another year or more 😢.

Off to do some baking and ensure that what I'm planning for dinner can stretch to 4 if necessary 😂😂😂.

Malcolm how have you found Littlehampton site? I've been reading reviews over last few weeks about lots of noise, white vans with ladders, leaving early and late as well as disregard for the rules in reviews. Was it just a few at the time and they'e moved on or is it ongoing?  It was somewhere we wanted to go - chose not to and have now taken our motorhome off the road until we return from NZ.

Does that mean you'e heading home or to another site? Glad you enjoyed the show. Rosa will have to keep her legs crossed if she chooses not to enjoy the rain 😂

Have you read the response from the club to those reviews Bakers2? I was surprised at the reaction and lack of empathy for people who had not enjoyed their holidays. If I was on the site and my holiday had been compromised I would be wary of this response. Especially the comment about funds being needed from all types of members.

We had a similar experience when we stayed at Alderstead CMC site earlier this year, not a pleasant experience for us and others on site.

Lots of early / late vehicle movements. speeding vans, feral kids running amok until late, swearing (from the kids!) let alone the parents!

We would not be returning to that site in a hurry, I'm afraid, sounds like Littlehampton is another to avoid too! undecided

We've nothing much planned for this weekend - apart from farming of course.

Last night we went to our 4th music gig in eight days. All different, and all wonderful in their different ways.

Show of Hands in an unheated church in Harrogate with wonderful lighting and accoustics. And a long trek in the dark to the toilets! (these things are important).

Squeeze in a proper concert hall with comfy seats on the front row. Great fun, new and old songs by masters of words and music. The audience on their feet for most of the show.

Martin Simpson at Kendal Brewery Arts Centre. Amazing guitar playing and teller of tales. Front row again, with Martin on the platform two feet away. But, oh the seats!

Martyn Joseph in Settle, at England's oldest surviving Music Hall. Life affirming songs and great audience interaction. On top of his game.

I've added the links so you can check them out if they come your way.

We can't get away in the caravan very often (10 nights this year), so these nights out are an escape from real life. Not that there's much wrong with real life!

After a short breather, we still have Jon Boden and the Remnant Kings, Oysterband, Chris Rea and then The Young 'Uns before Christmas.

Sounds good Goldie, we're lucky we've got a venue near us where we have all sorts of music including some on your list, there are some nice clips on here. Our middle daughter goes there a lot, sometimes accompanied by her fiddle and penny whistle! Steve Knightley started off in Dorset, just over the border, so Show of Hands gets a big following, always a sell out.

    Comment from the Club:

Thank you for your review. We were sorry to read you were unhappy during your stay.

As per our replies to the previous reviews, as an inclusive organisation, and bearing in mind the law on these matters, the Club does not have a policy that discriminates against any particular individuals / groups and commercial vans are allowed on Club sites. However, in support of the original ethos of the Club, the Bye-Laws (Section 10.3 – Code of Behaviour) do make it clear that membership usually precludes anyone who is not using our Sites purely for recreational purposes.

The vast majority of our members enjoy the Club Sites and Certificated Locations on offer through membership without any problems/concerns. Where we become aware of anyone that abuses the benefits of membership then we act swiftly to investigate and address that situation.  With the size of membership that we enjoy, which helps fund the facilities everyone benefits from, you will appreciate that diversity across our membership is inevitable. While Site Staff will be vigilant to try and identify and mitigate the opportunity for any unwelcome behaviour at the earliest possible stage, they also take care to only intervene when clearly warranted.

Once again, I am sorry you felt your holiday was spoiled. We have noted the comments you have made and these will be passed onto the Regional Manager who looks after Littlehampton Club Site.

Another busy day working on the new bathroom, it seems to be taking a while, although it has been on hold due to caravaning wink We took the old bath out during the week, finished the new floor and panels  on walls. Only had a break Thursday night as it was a "girls" night out.

New dummy wall put in yesterday evening and hoping shower will be done by tonight. I do sometimes think it would be easier to get someone in, but then DIY does save a lot of money and OH wasn't impressed when he found the plumber had just capped the pipes and left them instead of taking them out when he fitted the new boiler yellPerhaps we could start a business? We did the new kitchen last year. I'am getting good at  holding and passing tools as and when required laughing Having a break as we'd run out of fixant. Thank goodness the weather is brightening up, it was pouring with rain this morning and lblowing under the car port when we were cutting the  last panels.

Hope everyone's weekend is going well, must get back to work now!

Have things changed at Alderstead  Heath as there was a curfew on vehicle movements, with timed electronic ramps and barriers when we last stayed there

Hmmmmm read the comments from HO not overly impressed. Message seems to be put up and shut up.

Of course if they were to enforce the rule that sites are for holidaying it would mean they'd have to act with each and every member. It is quite openly discussed that some sites are used as residences for some, just moving as the rules require it. What happens if some refuse to cooperate?

So glad we have rejoined the other club for insurance purposes this time, we let membership lapse when we hadn't used their sites for a year of two due to NZ visits. You have to save where you can 😉 and our favourite local CL is CC.  The online welcome to join is so lovely and welcoming - contrast that to the CC one 😉. The other club says we all camp differently with old and new units etc, CC save up to £12 a night on site fees. I think that both say a lot 😃

Good work helenandtrevor.  Deciding between diy and paying was a luxury that' only just come on our horizon. Cost virus work and knowledge. OH watches paid person like a hawk, we both get frustrated at their limited hours too. At least if you do the job yourself you know it's done the way you want it done. We had something similar with old pipes when we had the boiler moved,  definitely not a diy job and OH hadn' realised pipes capped and not removed whilst he pottered elsewhere!

Sounds like good  few nights out Goldie. I agree seats and facilities are so important 😉. The older I get the higher that seems to come up the list 😂😂.

Working away from home is different to using CMC sites as your home.

I don’t think the sites were ever created for that.
