A cheap Ryanair flight to Oslo work out less expensive than a flight to London at that time, plus we had nice holiday visiting the relatives.

No embassy in Scotland anymore, I had to travel to London to renew my passport earlier this year.

We do have a Consulate in Edinburgh, but it is a small operation mainly staffed by locals, which of course does  not comply with the rules.

It seems not because whilst over there we met others who had taken on a nationality of another country and so had to get visas to visit China because of no longer being Chinese citizens even though they had been born in China and had family relations living there.

Apparently China does not recognise dual nationality for Chinese citizens. A Chinese citizen who acquires foreign citizenship of his own free will automatically lose Chinese citizenship. Hong Kong could be different

At the appointment with my wife's visa solicitor yesterday, we were told that we would get a response within a week as to whether any further documents were required and whether or not the existing documents are meeting the income threshold and all the other required provisions. The response will come from the solicitor before the application is submitted.

We were also told that if for any reason the application falls short of what is required, there is still the possibility of pleading exceptional circumstances. In another case, there was a recent decision by the High Court in which a visa refusal was overturned as a result of Human Rights issues.

In my wife's case, the fact that there had been a previous settlement visa would go in her favour so we've been told.

Apparently, the appeal process can take a long time because of a huge backlog of cases. Whilst the process is continuing she is allowed to remain in UK which would possibly add another 9 months to her existing visa. The solicitor will handle the whole process and seemed positive about an eventual successful outcome.

So I'm hopeful that all will turn out all right in the end and if it's not all right, it's not yet the end! Do you remember that from the movie 'Best Exotic Marigold Hotel?'

Yes, it may be better for my wife to get eventually, an indefinite leave to remain visa for UK. It is a question of time. It could take a total of 10 years to get that. It all depends on whether the financial requirement has been met. If it is met on this occasion, the route to settlement may take a total of 5 years. Otherwise, it will be another 7.5 years by which time I'll be 73 years old! I'll still need to be working at that age in order to fulfill the financial requirement!

There are a number of "enhancements" I've done. A small removable step to facilitate easier access to the fixed bed, a digital clock for the shelf above the cab seats so that I can see what time it is in the middle of the night, a double "ciggy socket" in the habitation area that runs off the leisure battery instead of the vehicle ignition. All relatively minor things that you wonder why they weren't fitted in the first place.

Lovely sunny morning here too. We're just getting packed up now ready to go to Littlehampton. We hope to be hitched up just before 12 noon so we might have lunch around 11:15 just before we leave.

Just off out to collect a new electronic piano keyboard for one of the choirs I direct.  Our pianist will have fun tonight.

Had an appointment in town so walked in. This display all the way along Parkway has been spectacular since April or May. Here we are on 2 November and they still look good - shame the sun isn't shining 😉. Our city parks department do a fabulous job.

Lovely photo Bakers2,  the flowers do look good still.

Nice sunny bright day here at Stonehaven, went into Aberdeen on the bus (bus pass) took 40 mins but a nice drive as some of it is along the coast. Bought a few things, trousers and jumpers for Mum. Pair of comfy slip on trainer type shoes for me, the ones with memory foam insoles wink OH bought a colouring book and pencils for himself, seems he has been eyeing up my books and fancies doing some.

Head cold  felt great when out in the fresh air, now back to warm van and all stuffed up again frown

Full moon tonight an I've got a great view of it, bright and clear with little clouds, hope we get to see the northern lights tonight.

Visited RSPB Strumpshaw today, lovely walk and saw some great birds.  Spent some time in the garden tonight star gazing.  As TG says moon is fantastic especially through the scope, great detail.

Kj, Some rates have gone up already, a bit of competing for savers will help, especially when lending funds cease at the end of the year.

Still very foggy here, could hardly see to drive down the local lanes tonight!

We arrived in the afternoon at Littlehampton Club site and then returned to Worthing to swap over the cars, so that I have the Smartcar ready for work for Friday evening.

We've just got up to a lovely, sunny morning here in Littlehampton on a hard standing pitch. You can see the sunrise through our front window, so we must be facing east.

One more night here and then it's back to our seasonal pitch at Northbrook Farm for the last two nights. We've already sent in the booking forms for seasonal pitches for 2018, Spring to Autumn at Northbrook Farm and Winter at Gatwick. If successful, it will take care of our accommodation needs for the whole year apart from having to spend a couple of nights away every 21 nights.

Very grey here in Notts, but then it has for the last 3 mornings, so much different to last Friday which was a glorious autumn day. I thought the weather forecast was for fog your end of the country? Walking into the village for shopping later, so hope the rain stays off.

We have tried for a seasonal in the autumn, for Cirencester. When do they normally tell you if you are successful, it made no mention on the form.

Not sure I would fancy the commute from Gatwick, particularly in the winter weather and dark.☹️

I think it will be some time after the 8th of November, SteveL.

The commute from Gatwick is 30 miles each way and takes 45 minutes but it will only be for 4 days a week because I get three days off every week. So it's a lot more easily manageable than in my previous job where I had to do it everyday.

From end of February to 17th March this year, we did the commute from Alderstead Heath site in Redhill to Worthing everyday for 21 days which was a further distance of 50 miles each way and took one hour. We managed it without difficulty and enjoyed the change of being in a different place when not at work. The site was lovely and a very relaxing place to unwind after work.

Road gang not coming today, they'e all on a driving course and our concrete base layer needs today to dry so tarmac tomorrow. Got to do some food shopping too, son coming tomorrow for his dad's birthday so better have plenty in! Got reflexology appointment this afternoon 😆. Hope those of you who've been feeling poorly aŕ feeling brighter today. Enjoy your day whatever you do 😃
