We went to Highbury College in Portsmouth yesterday for my wife's English Level 2 exam. The exam only took half an hour so I was able to wait for her to finish before we both returned to our caravan for lunch.

They had changed my shift at work so instead of 6 to 10, I did 4 to 9 which meant I could get back to the caravan earlier for our evening meal.

The clocks going back gave us an extra hour in bed last night, so I had a good sleep. It's just as well because I'm due to work 6 to 10 tonight which is going to feel like an 11 p.m. finish because of the clocks having gone back one hour!

Our 21 nights are over on 2nd November, so we've booked to spend two nights on the Littlehampton CMC site before returning here for the last two nights of our seasonal pitch. After that we have 28 nights booked at Lancing Fruit Farm CL. This will be followed by two nights already booked for Brighton CMC site. After that we plan to return to Lancing Fruit Farm for two weeks before our two week holiday at Baltic Wharf CMC site for Christmas and New Year. We'll have to find somewhere to park the Smart car for the two weeks we're away in Bristol as I can't drive both cars and my wife only has a provisional driving licence and hasn't yet started taking driving lessons!

I'm not sure what's happening about the Charmill Cottage CS. There's a For Sale sign outside and I have tried phoning the site owner but no reply either to calls or text messages. So it looks like we can't use that site any longer.

Beautiful sunshine this morning but boy was it cold. Enjoyed the extra hour in bed but not liking it pitch dark at 17.00.frown

OH washed the m/h down once the early morning cold had gone and the sun had warmed it up a bit (not much)

Big sister and her hubby popped out to see us and tell us all about their trip to Australia via Dubai and Singapore. They are not ones for going on holiday but this one was special as their daughter, new husband and her 2 children ages 21 and 16 went with them. A good time was had by all, I'm sure more stories will be told in the coming days. They went to Aus to see their son who moved out there 8 years ago.

This afternoon we managed a chilly but nice bike ride, slowly getting used to the new bikes. Where we live we only have to go about 400 yrds to the top of the village and we are then blessed with 360 degrees views of the hills, today they looked wonderful in the sun.

Also managed to do a bit of cooking, soup made for lunch with enough left over for tomorrow, and 3 containers of curry to go in the freezer, which is now full to the brim so had better start eating some of it.

Youngest son and his girlfriend have been down this weekend,  so it's been great to see them and catch up with their  news. Met up with his girlfriends parents and younger brother and enjoyed a lovely evening last night. Was glad of the extra hour in bed this morning. winklaughing

Weather has been beautiful today so it was a walk across the fields with the dog this afternoon, as well as finally making a start on removing a wall so we can take out the old bath ready to install the new one next week. It's been on hold for a few weeks.

Francis glad you've got your tow car sorted hope everything goes to plan.

After living in a house without central heating for the past 46 years we finally decided that we're getting to old for that and had central heating installed a couple of weeks ago.

That means we now have to redecorate right through the house. We finished the lounge this weekend and started on our grandson's bedroom. Only two more bedrooms and the dining room to go ( I did the   kitchen at Easter)

Nice day yesterday, had a walk down the beach, a Spitfire flew over, you can tell the engine sound before you see the plane.  Sea was rough and big waves were breaking over Scroby Sands.  Wind from the North so walked on beach with wind on our backs and the returned via the promenade.  In the afternoon managed to mow the lawn, will that be the last time this year

Calm, sunny and blue sky start to this morning so will I get the final fence panel painted, seems to have taken for ever!

It was the final night of Yeovil Literary Festival last night, it's a fairly new venture and has improved year on year. Final speaker was Monty Don, our daughter bought us tickets to see him as a birthday gift for me. Ben Fogle had spoken earlier and Monty Don kept us entertained for quite a long session, very good, Nigel featured quite prominently! Interesting to hear it takes an hour to film a minute of Gardener's World and we had a peek behind the scenes in the rest of Long Meadow. smile

Lucky you brue!! I would love to go to a talk by Monty Don.  Did he have Nigel with him?  It must have been interesting to see behind the scenes and to see more of Long Meadow.

Glad you had a lovely weekend with your son, his girlfriend and her family Helen and Trevor.

We had a brilliant evening last night.  We went to see Jools Holland at the Cambridge Corn Exchange. It was Mr H's birthday present form our daughter and SIL. Ruby Turner and Jose Feliciano also featured and were great.  I do love a Jools Holland Concert - everyone has such a good time, especially the band.  We clapped and sang along with everyone else. He used to come to Peterborough but our venues are too small for him now.  We had a nightmare of a journey there though as there was an accident on the A1 which held us up for an hour.  Luckily we had left in plenty of time as we had planned to go to a local bar first.  As it was we arrived just in time to grab a drink from the bar at the venue to take in with us.  Quite a few people arrived late so perhaps had got caught up in the same accident. Journey there took over 2 hours and journey home took 45 minutes.

Millie, the Jools Holland concert would have been just up my street too, hope MrH had a lovely birthday. Had to smile, you were late but I misread the start times and we were an hour early! Friends were with us as they had also booked so we had plenty of time for an unintended drink. embarassed

Sounds like folk have had a good/nice weekend. Doesn't the weather make a difference? Glorious yesterday but cloudy bits, glorious again today but cloudy now, chilly both days but once walking not an issue!

I think I'm falling apart at the mo, suffered since end June/early July with foot ankle and knee issues. Saw a podiatrist a couple of weeks ago - as feared it is bunion and inward roll of whole foot causing tendinitis around the ankle and throwing knee and hip out 😲. Got appointment to see podiatrist surgeon in a couple of weeks, hoping NHS will fund, see GP next week, i know it wont cover 1st visit but also not part if our health area, but need something sorted advise wise before NZ trip, so surgery, NHS or self funded 😲 won't happen until April at the earliest. Advice was don't stop walking, ensure plenty of support and don't overdo it. No bare feet 😲 and sandals iffy!

Yesterday we went for walk and took a new, to us, path that didn't bring us out where we thought so very circuitous route to tearoom and shorter way, known route, home about 8 miles - achy today so much support including ankle support and bunion splint handsome 😂😂.

Today was visit to dentist for CEREC work, mentioned further back in the thread. One hour appointment 😲. Luckily not all that time in the chair. Injections, drilled out the filling, left one complete side of tooth and the half where it had broken cleanly. Photographed and bit on gel for some of photos, 15 minutes or so, back to waiting room while 'crown' is milled onsite from computer photos. Back into chair whilst it's inserted and tidied about 20 minutes and all finished. No impressions no temporary crown no more visits. Brilliant. Here's a link https://www1.dentsplysirona.com/en/products/cad-cam/dental-practice.html

Cost  with Denplan £255 a crown with Denplan would be £161. Bit of a higher price but in terms of my time much less. He reckons should be good for 20+ years. So here's hoping, reckons as he hasn't had to chop rest of tooth about should be better as regards wear and tear.

Lastly we have been having the pavements replaced in our road. Started other side in April,  all went well and reasonably quickly. Resumed our side in September,  due to be completed October but the chaps keep getting pulled off. Consequently they're just reaching us now but our access to the drive ok for this week, approximately halfway up the road. Chaps now saying that as they are gritter drivers so if the weather is cold progress will be slower as they can't work over their hours 😂😂.

If you're still awake after reading this enjoy your day.

Mixed weather here today, so not too bad.

Yesterday we got all 3 of DD's new units installed and started assembling the drawers etc, takes quite a while to do it all.  Going back there this evening to continue the good work.

Today we have been preparing for some painting in our kitchen prior to installing the additional units, only 2 walls meantime.  Removed curtains and washed down the walls with sugar soap and will now apply masking tape all round to keep the paint off our timber facings and skirtings.

Painting will be done tomorrow morning, then I can get started on the units.  Will be nice when it is all finished!

This weekend we are starting tiling the utility room at DD's house, she is keen to assist,  and to perfect her tiling skills,  so have to wait till she is there.

Bright and sunny day here in North Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire but chilly enough for me to wear my fleece.  Been to Bedford Hospital today for Margaret to see the Rheumatologist Consultant for her Polymyalgia rheumatica. All good news as the terrible pain she was in has all gone and the steroids have certainly worked. The objective now is to gradually reduce the medication to see if she is left pain free on a much lower dose. Another appointment in six months. Excellent Park and Ride at Elstow and the bus dropped us off right outside the hospital and we could use our bus passes so it cost us nothing!

We've made the most of the good weather today by visiting WWT Arundel and going on the boat safari. After that we spent some time in the Ramsar Hide and saw a Kingfisher there. Then we had tea in the visitor centre cafe before having a wander around outside. It was rather chilly though which is why we were glad of a cup of tea in the heated visitor centre.

Finally completed the fitting of  a digital clock to the MH. The job has taken me longer than it took to be posted from New Zealand. Finding a convenient permanent live feed took an inordinate amount of time.

Talking of kingfishers, we met up with Nellie & Mrs Nellie today. It was a glorious sunny clear day, sharpish frost this morning. We walked from Freshford along to Avoncliffe where the Kennett & Avon canal meets the river. Sitting in the garden at the Cross Guns for lunch we watched a kingfisher flying back and forth along the river. They're a special sight aren't  they? smile

It's wonderful, no more hot water bottles, no more waking up to ice on the inside of the bedroom windows. Now it's nice warm towels for our morning ablutions and heat in every room.

it was 2C outside this morning but the new system with its weather compensation gadget guaranteed a constant temperature throughout the house.

We spent a bit more so that we could have a lower temperature upstairs than downstairs and we can have the upstairs at a much lower temperature during the day.

    Happy days😀

Apart from the Kingfisher which we saw twice flying past the Ramsar Hide, we also saw a Heron on the boat safari whilst at WWT yesterday.

It's back to work today to do a five hour evening shift from 5 to 10 p.m.
