Enjoying a well earned pint of local peak district beer, after a trip out on the bikes along the Tissington Trail. ☺

Brue, We decided not to take on another dog after our lovely springer died aged 17. It is very sad but it would probably outlive us. However we are enjoying our son and DIL' s delightful cocker spaniel puppy who we 'borrow' from time to time 😊

Near Upton there's both Emblem Villa, with a single H/S pitch but you have to drive over grass to get to it, and Furlongs Field at Ripple which is all H/S I think. Both are close to the M50 Junct 1.

Busy day today, OH at the hairdressers this morning while I called in at Docs for prescriptions and opticians to get glasses sorted out. Quick dash round the town then home to do some remedial work on garage door. Received confirmation of booking on Southfield CL near Taunton, so that's the first five weeks of our next trip sorted.

First site in France, we are at Quimper. The weather since leaving home has been fine, a little light rain on the way to Carlisle but since then nice blue skies with fluffy clouds.
Crossing from Plymouth went well, managed a few hours in Plymouth before hand, so parked up at the Hoe and went to see the poppy wave that is there for a while. It is 44 years since we lived there so quick dash around the Citadel and Barbican, fish and chips to eat then to the port.
We will spend a couple of days here then move slowly south, had a short bike ride into town to find the way will give it more time tomorrow, looks a nice old town.
Husky, sorry to here about you Dad
MM, ouch! wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thanks, Tammygirl. There's still some nagging pain so I'm taking Ibuprofen to relieve it. I've now got the waterproof bandage covers which are helping with ablutions. They arrived in the post yesterday.
Enjoy your holiday in France. The temperature should be more comortable now that we are heading into Autumn!

That's true but we're stuck with it! There's no going back now!

It sounds lovely Tammygirl. Enjoy Quimper. I hope the good weather stays for you. I have just read that we are going to get battered with the remains of the tropical storm currently in the USA next week.

Hi, All. Not been on much recently. Fliss and I were a member of a social forum with 50 members and probably 40 regular posters. Probably 10 of which we had met up with more than once on our travels. Many were older folk to whom the social contact was important. At 11 am on Monday this week the owner announced that the forum would be closing in 4 hours time. Even though I had helped to set up the forum the owner would not send forum e-mail to members. At that time of day few would be on forum to make alternative arrangements.
Fliss and I decided to set up aa New forum. Fliss is/was computer phobic. By 3am the following day the forum was up and running complete with sections and opening threads etc. By the time we left home on thursday contact had been established through various channels and there were 25 members.
Maybe forum techies here could borrow Fliss (and a hosting website with decent software).

Lovely morning here in Durham. Just pottering around home this weekend as I'm away with work again all next week.
My van needs a new dashboard cluster from its service yesterday, the old 'cluster light leak' that Boxers seem to suffer from. Warranty work luckily, I've booked it in for 2 weeks time for that.
Have a great weekend everyone, don't be spend too much 😂😂

Well done EasyT and Fliss. The forum sounds as though it was extremely important to many people. I hope you manage to make contact with all the members. If you 2 can do it why on earth can't the C&MC do it?!

Glad you have good weather in Durham Hallsontour. Make the most of today though as it is set to change. Glad the work on your van can be done under warranty as these things can be very expensive.

Indeed many have said how despondent they felt on the closure evening when trying to log on after the 3pm closure to find the site gone. Now up to 33 members.
It was sad that the owner would not let the site run for 7 days longer so that contacts could be made.
I had offered to take over the site with all posts Deleted User first and a rename after a weeK but owner was decided.

Gorgeous day today, really warm sunshine, blue sky and a few wispy clouds. Mrs M is plannng on one last surfing session as we won't be down again until mid October and it'll be too cold for the old girl then!
We were due to take part in the Setter Rescue wall on Dartmoor again tomorrow, but sadly the weather forecast means will probably haveto opt out - a great shame because it was such fun last year ( and the Devon cream tea after the walk was immense!) but a long drive back and an evening in the van with two soaking wet dogs doesn't 't have a lot of appeal! A coupe of pictures of last year's walk will give you an idea of the event.
Back home for a couple of weeks on Monday before we jet off or a fortnight around Barcelona and the Pyrenees.

Gosh is it really a year since you did the Dartmoor walk M! We were down there at the time and remember you mentioning it and the photos. We head off tomorrow, South Wales this time for a change. Enjoy your time in Cornwall!

My wife's taken the first step this morning towards learning to drive. I helped her complete the online application for a provisional driving licence and paid the fee. It occurred to me that once she gets the licence, she can be included on the car insurance and she will be able to drive with myself sitting in the car with her, plus L plates, thereby resolving the transport difficulty whilst my hands are recovering.
