Not yet!   This is turning into a "last minute" trip as we have been quite busy otherwise.  We have 3 nights there, so plenty of time for planning.

Likewise with York as it is our second last stop.

We have managed a bit of packing between the heavy showers......bed now made up, towels etc packed, and most of car packing done.

    We will be ready eventually!

Woken to clear blue skies and the world looks washed and fresh. Thank you 😉 sorry to those that are not enjoying our delight.

We're off today and a little like KjellNN in regard to getting ready 😂 maybe because it's local? Noon entry and less than an hour's journey. Things are together so some packing to get to storage unload and go. That's down to a fine art 15 mins sees everything put away in the right places for the whole trip  😆.

    Enjoy your day folks.

PS ABM I mean you too 😃. That washing and ironing must be sorted by now 😉

Lovely day here today as well, bright and sunny but a little on the cool side.  We are going to have a drive over to Oundle today to have a mooch round the market.

Have a great time all those of you going away.

An unexpected disaster has happened. We were visiting a place near Chichester on Tuesday and I tripped on some garden steps and fell down. After that, both my hands swelled up. I was in a lot of pain that night so I attended A&E at Worthing Hospital. They took an x-ray and found broken bones in both hands. So one arm is in a sling and the other hand is also bandaged up. The hospital told me that I'll be unable to drive for 6 weeks. This means I'll be off work for the next 6 weeks. So I spoke to my employer on the phone so that they know. It also means I can't move the caravan or take down the awning at the end of 21 days to move to another site. I don't know how to resolve that. Any ideas?

Oh, that sounds horrible Malcolm. It's also going to make life difficult for shopping and day to day trips isn't it with your wife not driving.

As far as the pitch is concerned, I'd speak to the wardens and contact the club booking team - I'm sure now that the peak season is almost over they'd be sympathetic.

    Good luck!  smile

Thanks, Chris. I just tried phoning the warden but no-one to answer, so left a message on the answerphone.

it's not just that, even basic tasks like ablutions are difficult without the use of my hands. The hospital said my wife would need to look after me until I can recover the use of my hands.

Sorry to hear your news Malcolm.

At least you can still type😉

No seriously I had a bandaged finger last week following a nail bed biopsy and even that was debilitating. I'm sure Mrs M will do a grand job of looking after you.

You will have to get Tesco home delivery to do your food shopping and deliver to site.

Thanks, Natasha2. Yes I can still type as I can still use my fingers but not as quickly as before. I'm not sure whether Tesco home delivery is allowed on a club site? My wife reckons she can walk from here to Tesco and just do a little at a time and carry it back here.

Not a nice thing to happen Malc, but it's surprizing with a bit of ingenuity what you can do , just think "I can" not I can't

Malcolm, sorry to hear of your accident.  Airbnb have very reasonably priced rooms in worthing, so perhaps you could just move to one of those for your required few days off site.

Loss of use of hands is one of the most limiting things, my wife had a broken right shoulder and a broken left finger, at the same time, and was unable to do much at all for weeks, she needed help with everything, so you have my sympathies Malcolm.

Do you have somebody who could come over when required and help your wife take down the awning?  You could then leave the van on site for the 48 hours and find a B&B or similar for a couple of nights.  How about your cousin who lives nearby?  Might he even have a spare room?

And yes....time for your wife to start learning to drive the little Smart car!

Thanks Malcolm it's much better now but not a pretty site. My nails are strong and fast growing but it'll be a few months yet before it looks normal.

Talking of falling I went full length in the street about a month ago. I didn't have time to save myself (which is possibly a good thing) but bashed my face into the pavement.  Nice bruised cheek which is still sore to the touch. Passers by rushed to my aid but all my hubby had to say was 'she's ok just clumsy' . Typical!!

Sorry to hear about your accident Malc.  I hope that enough people will rally around to help you, in my experience, people are very kind and helpful at such times.  On the plus side.....you'll have more time to post on here! laughing

Thank  you  for  your  cheerful  thoughts / comments  B2,  I  just  load  the  machines  as  required  for  the  washing &  drying  but  after  that  it  sits  there  trading  scowls  with  me  'til  I  pluck  up  the  energy  to  grab  the  steam  iron  &  use  it  to   beat  the  daylights  out  of  things.  And,  yes,  its  sorted  , stacked  &  stored  for  now  with  just  a  further  break  at  Thetford  planned  ( to  come  in  a  fortnight. )

I'm  rather  worried  about  That  One,  'cos  the  show  I'm  going  to  is  the  one  where,  last  year,  I  damaged  my  teeth  -  which  reminds  me  I  have  another  appointment  with  the  hygienissisist  before  I  go  innocent.  At  least  the  teeth  should  be  all  ticketyboo  as well  as  nice  &  sharp   for  the  pork  rolls  wink

Malcolm sorry to hear of your injuries. You're going to have to be ingenius to find work around, but I'm sure it's possible. At least you're on a full site so showers toilets and washing up areas will save getting and disposing of water and waste. I think you will need to heed Husky's advice and adopt as big a can do attitude as possible and that other awful expression think outside the box. I think Goldie's suggestion of a large shop with a taxi is a good one too, especially as your post suggests your wife could walk to Tesco, you could go together. Do you qualify for any sort of sick pay?

Sadly this is a sailent life lesson 😯you need to consider getting you wife driving lessons, and planning how you can manage should anything gets horrible like this happen again. 6 weeks with no work, no pay and only walking get as a pastime. I really do wish you a speedy recovery.

Ps why did you ring the warden rather than find one to chat to? 😉

Sorry about your fall too. Your OH sounds like he's all heart 😉. Luckily no permanent damage, like teeth! Expense and pain 😲

Continuing the lazy start to our day and just sitting reading and catch up on here.

We've just been to chat to the warden. We'll need to be away for 2 nights from 16th to 18th September to comply with the 21 night maximum stay rule but can leave our outfit here. So I've booked two nights at Burlington Hotel on Worthing sea front. So all sorted now! We can get a taxi  from here to there.

Bakers2 it's 3 weeks tomorrow since I had the procedure, no results but hoping that I would have heard by now if there was a problem. The doc thought all looked normal but he did the biopsy just to be sure.  Have to commend the NHS for their efficiency, from my initial doctors visit to having the surgery was only 5 weeks.

Yes other half is all heart no soft soaping from him!!

So embarrassing falling in the street but I confess to having done more than my fair share.  Drunk and sober and yes he's right I am clumsy.

Falling  down  or  just  staggering  around  are  problems  many  of  us  Diabetics  have,  Natasha.

If  ones  blood  sugar  drops  very  low  unexpectedly  it  really  can  give  onlookers  the  impression  of  drunkenness.  The  trick  i  have  taken  to  using  is  to  have  a  clear  soft  drink  bottle  with  plain  water  laced  with  sugar  to  hand  when  I'm  out  enjoying  myself.  Then,  from  my  recumbent  position  I  can  take  a  swig  or  six,  all  the  while  telling  anybody  around  that  "I  just  Knew  I  should  have  finished  the,  hic,  whole  boddle  off  to  start  with  !!"

It's  guaranteed  to  give  me  time  &  space  to  recover  my  dignity  !!wink
