Bright, sunny and cold here in Notts. Off for a walk in a bit at Clumber and to feed the ducks. Spent yesterday afternoon putting all our contacts into the new house phone we bought in the sales. If it works as it should, and when tested it did, any calls not in my contacts get sent straight to answer phone. So no more sales calls 😀and if it is anyone we have missed from our contacts, they can speak to the answer machine and we can add them later.

Good to hear you're feeling good better Helenandtrevor sorry about OH. Lots of it about and it seems really nasty.
Tammygirl glad you had nice time, shame about the food but at least there was some. It's nice to have home cooked isn't it? Funny how you can long for no cooking/cleaning/washing etc but are glad to get back to it. I think that's why we all enjoy caravanning/motorhome as almost best if all world's.
Hope everyone had a good Christmas ours was very quiet but lovely to have son and dog with us. Honoured to have mum come over first time she's visited for nearly five years 🤐. Looking forward to longer days.

Nice to read everyone's news this morning. I had a look back on the thread and it was quite a struggle to adapt to this new web site.
I'm not very good with new phones Steve, OH has had to set my new one up, it's still without phone numbers but the rest is working ok.
We're off to a lunch time drinks "do" in the village so can catch up with all the local news (and gossip...)
Hope you all have a good day, at work or play.....

Prior to 2015, I was teaching overseas and so did not have a car or insurance in UK. As a result, I did not have any no claims bonus. Fast food delivery driver insurance for up to 36,000 miles per year doubled the premium. Now I have just one years no claims bonus but even with this the premium has gone up since last year.
Working 11 hours a day 7 days a week doing fast food deliveries where you have to go faster to ensure food is delivered hot to customers would be higher risk than normal business usage. The insurer must have taken that into account when quoting the premium. Given the circumstances, I doubt I could get a cheaper quote elsewhere because of the higher risk due to the type of work and increased usage.

Another frosty start again today on the I.o.W,broken cloud & bright too.Off to Cowes later (after I've washed the vehicles!!).SO much mud & dirt been thrown up by the past storms !!.

It has been a cold, frosty start to the morning here too but at least the sun is in and out because there's a fair bit of cloud around.
Yesterday morning, it warmed up nicely in the awning and I was able to sit out in the relaxer but not warm enough today.
I did some shopping at Tesco yesterday and went for a drive along the sea front as well with the weather being so good. It was cold and frosty but with blue skies and sunshine.

To all the posters above saying "now Christmas is over etc" - it's not!
It started on 25th December (not November) - and goes on till after New Year. We had a quietish Christmas Day (just six of us), but now we're up to full strength of thirteen and had a wonderful but chaotic time last night swapping presents. The house is full of children, grandchildren and dog, and I love it!
Even the farmers are having as much time off as possible in between milkings. Sleeping or playing with new toys!

I wish it wasn't over, have enjoyed the few days, but by this afternoon both boys will have gone home and I'am back at work.😢
Sounds like you have having a lovely time Goldie. ☺

I so agree with you Goldie twelve days of Christmas. However we will be on our own once son leaves shortly. But more visits and visitors over next few days. Luckily no work to go too but I know how helenandtrevor feels. Once back at work they remove decs etc. Shops were open, and busy, boxing day. I think it's sad but sadly it seems the normal now. Enjoy your family time it's so precious.

I prefer the cold. It gives me more energy. It can get too hot in the summer!

Couldn't agree more! Cards went into recycling as they arrived, can't imagine having them on show. One looked like a glitter bomb had gone off
Looking forward to seeing all the tat in our village getting boxed away till next year. Haven't ventured out much but I suppose the supermarkets will be full of Easter tat now

Hi Malcolm. Duplicate posts are caused by pressing the 'Reply' button too quickly. This used to happn on the old CT at the start, then it was fixed so that we couldn't press the reply button twice. I have already flagged this up as a problem so hopefully we will eventually get a fix.

Christmas is one of the few times we see all the family together these days, the other times being our grandchildren's birthdays. This year things went well, the food was good, the children well behaved, and we stayed over so avoided driving home in the poor weather.
Things were slightly marred by OH coming down with the same cough and cold as I have, so she was a bit miserable at times.
Mine started on the 19th and I still have the annoying cough, OH has been poorly since the 24th, was at her worst yesterday, and marginally better today. It is certainly a persistent bug, worst we have had in years.
Comiserations to all those similarly afflicted.

These coughs and colds seem to be very persistent. I've had mine since October and am getting pretty sick of it by now. The last visit to the GP resulted in antibiotics as it had gone down to my chest. Still got the cough and have finished the antibiotics on Christmas day.

I am sure the non Christmas lovers will be glad to know that the Valentine cards are now in the shops.
I spoke too soon when I said earlier that there was no sign of the promised fog. It has now arrived with a vengeance and is also very cold.

Thanks Mills, I love Christmas so I may get a Valentine card & post it to Santa

If they knew me they wouldn't send them as I don't celebrate Christmas. If they are unimpressed then so am I for being sent them in the first place
I open them, see who they are from and recycle them. What am I supposed to do with them? There's no place in my home for them

Excellent strategy Jayess, It's time people woke up to the waste of Xmas cards, Valentines cards, Easter cards and Birthday cards and shopping excess.
Much better being more personal and actually visiting, or if that is not possible then a telephone call
Or perhaps a 7 day pill so hibernation over Xmas might be possible. Benefits being richer, weight loss and less likely to suffer the onslaughts to health that overeating can bring.

It's been quite chilly here, I was very surprised to hear the M5 was closed through the Bristol area yesterday due to ice (mostly on the Avon bridge.) The sky is clear and sunny just now so it looks like another good sunset and a cold night. I took a late afternoon photo on a walk yesterday, the sky was a wonderful pink colour.
