Father in law came for lunch. He said he enjoyed it. Didn't stay long though, as he doesn't like driving in the dark.

Hi all,  we've arrived back safe and sound this lunch time, had a couple of hours kip as never managed to get any on the plane home. Drive up from Newcastle was good, lovely sunshine until the Borders then a snow shower or two, nothing to bad.

Just though I'd drop in to CT to say hello and hope you all had a lovely Christmas. First look at the new site and I'm managing to get around so far, I'm sure I have lots to catch up with.smile

We have had a really great couple of days with the family.  Christmas day at ours - 11 of us - and Boxing Day at daughter and SIL's.  Beautiful sunny but frosty morning here today.  We have been for a walk round the 2 lakes at Ferry Meadows this morning to blow the cobwebs away.  Lovely to see all the little ones out with their news bikes with Mums and Dads trying to teach them to ride them.smile

Glad you are safely back Tammy.  Hope you had a wonderful time.  Belated Happy Christmas to you both.

Beautiful calm water Millie, how nice to have such a lovely walk near to you.

Welcome back TG, hope you can find your way round here. wink

Just catching up, I briefly tried a new phone on here the other day. It was an unexpected pressie but as my old phone is quite old it was nice to have an up to date one and one that didn't break the bank. It seems to compare well with others. A ulephone, appropriate for this time of the year. Anyway the CC website does work on it ok, which was a handy test. wink

I lost track of which day it was this week, so now I find I have an extra day to enjoy before the next bit of festivities!

Better get on with finishing the cheese and pickles. laughing

Today is moving day for us - moving from our current static into our newer upgraded one, just next door! And given the time it's taking and the amount of stuff we seem to have accumulated, there's no way we're going to move house back at home!

Just stopped for a bite of lunch, then up to the dunes with the dogs and finish off later this afternoon. Fortunately we've got a perfect day for it, bright and dry. All I've got to do now is work out where Mrs M has decided everything goes!

Peace and tranquility has been established. Since Christmas morning we have had our elder son, his wife and her two children, plus a girlfriend who  have been staying with us and we decanted to the motorhome at the bottom of the garden to allow them use of the bedrooms. They went home today back to London and we are now recovering. The glass recycling bin is embarrassingly full of bottles!!!

Could it be that as Malcolm lives in his caravan, he cannot keep his car(s) in his garage or on his driveway, so that is pushing the price up?

Also, with only a small NCD on his first car, he has not been given a good "starter discount" on the second car.

All that, added to needing business use, and not just what I would consider ordinary business use but being a delivery driver, is bound to push up the premiums.

They do however seem excessively high, could be Malcolm has some other previous claim that is still being held against him and did not have a full NCD before the bumper incident.

So after a good nights sleep feeling a bit more human again. Lovely sunny day today and not cold.

Went out to get some food shopping as the fridge was looking very empty, now fully stocked and ready for some nice simple, hot and uncomplicated meals. Cruise food is OK but I wish they would serve some food that has not been messed about with, everything ends up tasting the same.

Sad to say not the best cruise we've been on,it  could be awhile before we are willing to give it another one ago, was nothing like any other one we've been on frown  looking forward to getting the van back in the New Year and going away, hope this lovely mild weather lasts.

Well TG you don't know til you've tried it, sorry to hear the cruise wasn't as good as you hoped it would be. I remember getting fed up with the food on our one and only cruise, I was longing for something plain and simple.

edit Mind you I still have a cruise or two that I'd like to try in the future.

Yes brue, a was a bit disappointing food wise, way too many weird concoctions served and food not hot on arrival, really hate it when food has been well cooked to be served barely warm. We've had 11 other cruises so there was no excuse really as we know it can be done sooooo much better, bit off putting but we are made of stern stuff and no doubt will get over it in awhile and think again about another one, however not with TUI.

Just been catching up with posts on here, interesting to hear so many have been troubled with horrible coughs/sore throats and colds, considering the posts have come from all over the UK. We too have been affected by this virus while away, we thought at first it was the air-con on the aeroplane but when we have been talking with other passengers on the cruise it would appear that there were lots of them troubled by persistent chesty coughs that  were not responding to antibiotics.

Hope everyone is feeling much better now.

Sorry you feel like that but you did canvas opinion and it seems I am not alone in my view so I am not sure how you suggest we are moaners. I suspect it depends which platform you are viewing the forum on but In Windows, on an iPad and my Android phone the text is perfectly viewable. If you have an issue with the forum you need to take that up with Rochelle and I am sure she will put it on the snagging list. Not sure its helpful to take unilateral action?

Well that'sChristmas over for another year, hope everyone had a lovely time and Santa brought you everything you wished for.

This year I got it right, even the tv didn't get switched on surprised all due to a jigsaw!, which took us 3 days to complete. Even the boys were hooked! Just kept the food and drink coming! smile

My cold eased up enough to cope over the period, but OH is back at the doctors today, me I'am back at work. frown

That's good to hear milliehull. Our son will be leaving around midday to travel back towards Peterborough, hoping that the fog we have will have cleared by then. We have very heavy frost 😮 but no sun so far. I've generously allowed the boys to take dog to park and pop to tesco today 😃 whilst I tidy round a bit and sort sons clean washing. He and his girlfriend are off to Oz and NZ Friday, although we've been twice this year I'm feeling very jealous 😢.  We did manage to kept my mother until about 9pm and had a great couple of hours on Skype. First time mum's seen them all live since our daughter went nine years ago. Think she wishes she'd agreed to do before! We get to keep the dog until early Feb so let's hope that this weather continues as we always get the grotty walks in the wet 😂😂. She's a real pal very preipetic she has spent long periods with us from very young. Wouldn't let him have a dog at 4 years old as didn't want to end up looking after it 😉. He gets one at 24 they move here so puppy has company during the day to begin with. Soon after both do career change so she's with them, us or the girlfriend depending on what's happening. They've had her full time for two years and we still miss her like crazy so going to enjoy having her 😃.
