I've been looking for a new TV for a while now, Goldie, 'cos my Ceefax / red button service is struggling to respond to remote. Definitely NOT the remote so I've been a searching on line, in stores etc ! BUT last month I saw that BBC is ceasing the service early next year so I can just struggle on 'til it finally stops  --  I suppose I'll be able to save myself the cost of the soon to be revived Licence yell !!

The problem now with these modern TV's is they are so slim / thin that you won't be able to put all your newly won silver ware on top for visitors to admire Goldie wink.

David  --  it's blooming perishing in Cheshire with thin  high grey clouds ! just like one of those bitter February days -- not quite that cold but it's made me put a long sleeved shirt & light sweater on cool !!

Thanks, I did take a look at your comments on the entertainment thread too and if I hadn't got Thursday mixed up with Friday I might be going today but it will now be tomorrow. wink

I've been a day ahead all week! laughing

Edit       ABM.  I will miss the TV text service too, I enjoy a quick look at the news and weather in words not pictures. smile

Brue I echo David's comments, I hope you enjoy it.

Your turn this week - I spent last week a day ahead 😂😂

Got motorhome stuff out of sight! Found we have sooooo many surplus coathangers, not sure if they can be recycled? One hanger has label age 2-3 years, that was a while ago 😢😢. Will investigate later.

Book by Kiwi author, Hairy McClary, arrived lunchtime, early post for us!, for great niece's 1st birthday tomorrow only after I'd pressed the order button did I realise how tight delivery would be - all to save a £1 😉. Should have bought in the town's bookshop but I couldn't carry extras last week 😂😂. Sometimes forget I don't have the pram or pushchair to load or make the child walk 😂 only been 25+ years. I've actually got some authentic wrapping paper to wrap it in!

Off to friends for a cuppa this afternoon and a 'girly' meet up this evening. Dinner is already prepared 😉

We went to see Ralph McTell at The Stables (founded by Cleo and Johnny Dankworth) here in MK, probably a couple of years ago. I have been a great fan for years and have several of his LP's, which just shows how long I have been a fansurprised After the concert I had a quick chat with him and I said to him that in the last couple of hours my whole life has been played before me. His reply was that it happens to him every night! Earlier in the year we were in Harrogate and a busker was playing Streets of London, sad that it is still so relevant today!

Good luck with the new TV. We only have a 43 inch screen as we are not sure a bigger screen would fit. It's a Sony and it has a wonderful picture in HD. Having said that when we are in John Lewis I marvel at those much larger screens in even higher definition, sometimes the sharpness looks unreal!

Descended over 2000 feet and moved a couple of hundred kilometres further towards the boat. Passed an Aire on the A75, that said it was the centre of France.🤔

Overnighting at Bourges before continuing on tomorrow. After pitching and a late lunch, went for a look around the towns very impressive cathedral. Plenty of other things to see here, so will have to return another year. Considering how late it is in the year, the flowers were still fairly impressive in one of the parks.

Arrived here at Chapel lane site Birmingham just after 4pm. As we had a poor sleep last night and we were up at 6am this morning we decided we'd had enough. The ferry crossing was uneventful, wished we'd taken a cabin (we usually do) the boat was freezing, heating was on but not had time yet to warm the boat through. Kept having to go for a walk to warm up. Rain has started here, got in and set up in the dry.smile

Home tomorrow all being well, my sister will be glad to have us back, her OH is not one for being poorly so is not going to take it well, he also isn't one for talking about things so she will have to prise it out of him what the doctors have said. He wouldn't let her go with him yesterday for the results.

If its still on at home we'll go and see Downton Abbey, have watched all the series and still have it recorded.

Must go and make something to eat before we both fall asleep.

Not been to Chapel Lane for 25 years. Some B knicked the caravan hub caps overnight but neighbour had some Nissan ones that were perfect!

Nice easy drive to our next CL. Very nice as well but wifi signal a bit hit and miss. Hit at the moment.

After a quick bite for lunch we decided on a walk around Cley Nature Reserve and a coffee in the excellent centre. Then had a bite to eat in Holt on the way back to the caravan.

We like Chapel Lane we stop there every year on our way south for our main holiday. It’s a site we would like to visit and stay longer as there seems to be plenty to do nearby. Will get.to do that at some point hopefully.

We went into town last night to look at televisions in Currys, There were very few staff about so I was able to have a good fiddle with the controls and managed to load a You Tube video. I turned the sound up and eventually an assistant came to see us.

I persuaded OH not to buy the biggest one he wanted and we settled on a 49" Sony Bravia and a Sound Bar.

So today I've been sorting out the mouse nest of wires behind the old one. There's a lot of wires going in and out of various things (when we had the house rewired in 1997 the electrician put wires and TV sockets in all the rooms).

But now t's up and working, but I have a lot of techy bits to learn. So far so good.

A brisk but dry day, ideal for a good walk. Parked at Cley reserve centre and walked a circular route to Salthouse village via the beach and back over the hills. Most enjoyable and surprisingly unmuddy underfoot.

Had a good session of birdwatching out to sea en route so the day ticked 2 boxes.

We arrived on site early this afternoon just local for the weekend but still nice to get away. So far we have had none of the promised rain and wind hopefully it stays like that and avoids us. Just sitting in the van relaxing just now it’s been a stressful week. Hope everyone else has a nice weekend.

It's the third night of our Douro cruise and it's the captain's dinner - 4 cabins have been chosen at random to "dine on the captain's table" and we're one of them! Somehow, I don't think shorts and a tee shirt are going to cut it tonight! surprised

That's  our second time, both just overnighters. It's handy as Francis says when going north to south and visa versa. It does have road noise so not a site that I would use for longer stays,  as we were shattered it didn't bother us.

Home now, got in at 16.30 smile good journey up the road no issues with traffic or weather.

Gone through the mail nothing of interest frown

Checked the hard drive player we had set up before leaving as there was 4 series on that we interested in, first 2 weeks recorded ok then nothing for the rest yell it was set to series recording so should do the lot. Will have to check the book or give Panasonic a call. Not the first time its done this when away but its great when at home. undecided

Where are you staying? If you're still around either later on tomorrow afternoon or Sunday then we can meet up for a scoop. Let me know where suits and when and we'll arrange to be there.

WN I’m alone tomorrow and carless so will probably wander into Holt.  We are staying at Rose Cottage on Cley Road.  Weather dependant, Sunday may be Burnham Overy Staithe or Titchwell

Oneputt, we're out in the morning but if you'd like we can pick you up about 2pm and drive you down to Cley reserve for a couple of hours and drop you back at Rose Cottage. We've stayed there before so know it.

Have they still got the resident Barn Owl?

Thats very kind WN, thank you, will take you up on the offer.  We are the van at the top end of the site.

Just heard the Barn Owl so going to look and see if it’s sat behind the van. No luck it could be beside me and I wouldn’t see it.

Looking forward to meeting up tomorrow

After a few days of culture in Edinburgh, we have travelled south to a CL near Sedgefield and are now deciding what to do while here.....Beamish.....Maritime Museum at Hartlepool.....Durham... possibly.

Nice CL, all serviced hardstandings with free WiFi and Sat TV hookup, £15 per night.  Folder with leaflets on nearby attractions provided too.

A1 was busy, especially around Newcastle, but we made good time and the weather was not too bad, got set up in the dry, in fact it is still dry.  Would be good if it stayed that way!

As far as we are concerned it is just alike a car park. One of our least liked sites and certainly won't bother using it again. They also had the least pleasant wardens that we've ever met the time we were there.

True the central section of the site is very much like a car park, it was full of MHs, the rest isn't to bad with gravel pitches and grass fingers.  Definitely knew we were back on  a club site wink its the traffic noise I'm not keen on, as I mentioned though we were so tired it didn't bother us (I put earlugs in) laughing

Must have different wardens now they were fine smile

Have you got your van sorted now?

We had expected a bit of road noise at Chapel Lane,  but found it surprisingly quiet, maybe we were lucky with the wind direction!

This CL we are on now is not that far from a main road, something we had not really thought about,  when we arrived we could hear the road so were a bit worried, but it seems quite quiet out there now.

The problem with Chapel Lane is that everyone tends to judge it by the large areas of tarmac but quite a bit of the site is like any other Club site.

Hi Nellie. We have struggled to find a decent CL around Durham in the past. In Winter we use Club Site, we used pitches down at bottom of site away from A1, and didn’t find traffic noise too bad, but then we were off site all day, and it’s not so bad overnight. Rowing Club is ok, bit cramped for space, but close to City centre. A place we did find, and looked around was Finchale Abbey. Lovely location, and a nice tidy place, but no idea of prices. https://www.finchaleabbey.co.uk/

We are away again. Near Helmsley, in a cottage, with family in an adjacent cottage. Glorious sunrise this morning, and a lovely if chilly walk with pooch first thing. Tons of wildlife around, deer, hares, foxes, all sorts of birds. Start of a nice week hopefully.😁

Welcome!
