What a farce , residents parked vehicles on the public highway,,that just happened to also be the pedestrian only access to the meadow field, that was used for access, and have been asked to move them by the police to enable the agrivated access people space to go about their daily lives and "business?" and when out with a couple of other dog walkers (not on our own now, )the travellers offspring were out on 9 large quad bikes having races tearing up the meadow and cultured grassland plus well used by riding for disabled bridle path, and we are as some expect to live and let live, they only been here since about 1400 hrs and already the damage must run intos thousands of pound

We've been having problems over the last couple of days with the van's DC electrics, with the battery not charging and so diminishing power to the taps & toilet flush. Finally sorted it out with help from a friend of the site's owner. The live 240v lead into the PDU had worked loose, probably not fully connected when we had the unit replaces, so easily sorted, thank goodness, We thought that it was a dying battery which would have needed replacing, so a fair bit of cash saved, and we can continue our trip with peace of mind.

A rather wet day today. We drove down to Lydney and walked from the Station along to the harbour, Got caught out in a torrential downpour, fortunately we had our brollies with us and the path was a quite well sheltered from the wind or we would have been soaked to the skin. Then drove up to the FoD Railway for a look round, but didn't bother with a train ride, Called into FoD Caravans to see what they had...nothing special....what with Bailey no longer doing a 4 berth side dinette Unicorn, and the 2019 Eccles was too cold looking internally and the cupboards were so flimsy and didn't even align properly. More heavy rain showers are we got back to the van and again when I took Flyte out before dinner.
Sorry to hear about your intruders, JVB. Hope that they soon move/are moved on.

Two nights at Bolton Abbey Site, we moved up to Leyburn today, via a lovely scenic drive over Moors. Torrential rain though, heaven help the poor cyclists if they have it the same tomorrow and Sunday. Saw UAE team our on a recce, they were drenched and didn’t look like they were enjoying it. Aysgarth Falls were a spectacular sight. All on its way down to River Ouse......look out York!😱On tethered WiFi here, so will be looking in briefly.

On tethered WiFi here, so will be looking in briefly.
Our method of choice now where it works, fortunately got a fairly large data allowance so no need to worry too much as it costs the same if I use it or not. In the summer I purchased another years Club wifi but have had terrible trouble getting it to accept my login details. Tried to ring Air Angel but gave up after ten minutes!

Off for a bit of church and monument visiting today. The photo of the puy's was taken from the entrance of the municipal site in Le Puy en Velay. The last time we climbed them was over 30 years ago. Somehow they look a bit steeper now.☹️ Weather still nice but cooler, as Le Puy is some 2,200 feet above sea level. The drive here yesterday was interesting, following the Ardeche a lot of the way, lots and lots of bends and a high point of over 4,000 feet. We had a walk round town yesterday evening after dinner. They have lite up the cathedral, theatre, Hotel de Ville and other buildings in son et lumiere style. Difficult to photograph but fascinating to watch. There were dinosaurs running all over the museum.😂

Perhaps another tour operator might take up that route AD. I would imagine that there will be much behind the scenes negotiating and bidding in the next few months for TC's hotel and flight slots.

I'm thinking the same Millie.
Steve, lovely photos, the French are good at "Lumiere!" Sounds like a a wonderful holiday.
Must attempt some gardening today, the weather has been mixed and strong winds forecast. Have bought a few bulbs and winter plants to put in and remove old summer plants in pots etc.

Been doing it for ages now, as you say great if you have a good data deal. Bolton Abbey has no phone signal at all, but hardly surprising given its glorious location. We are on Lower Wensleydale Site at moment. I think only place WiFi signal can be obtained via Air Angel is bench close to reception, 😂 so no doubt those who have bought it are not pleased here, but it is in an old quarry, all higgledy-piggledy pitching. No problem with phone signal though.

Thanks brue, yes enjoying it immensely. Only another week and a bit left though.☹️Just back to the van for lunch from a visit to the church of St Michael, on top of that volcanic plug in the photo. The defibrator placed near the top was reassuring. Great views. 😀

Given the weather up here up to today, there are spectacular waterfalls everywhere at the moment. 😁 Aysgarth was unbelievable yesterday, thundering down through village. Been a lovely day today, so we drove across to Reeth and Grinton. Went over bridge temporarily repaired from August flood. Water running down roads off the Moors in places.

Rain overnight but it turned out another nice day.
Took the morning nice and slow with a bit of housework and some clothes washing. Then a cuppa and a read of my book.
Had a visit after lunch from some other Brits on site, we spoke to them while checking in the other day. They are heading down to Spain and wanted to 'discuss' the route as they were not sure which way to go. Had a good laugh with them for awhile then we went off into town on the bikes. I'd forgotten how steep the route is, we made it though so not as old as we feel
Loads of folk out along the prom in town, the sea was in and washing over the walls, seems to be a pastime for some to get a soaking, lots of laughing and squeals.
AD, thanks for the tip on Lake Bled have taken note.

A sunny if rather breezy day with an occasional passing shower in North Norfolk today.
We decided on a round walk with a bit of a hill to climb and a bite to eat from The Crab Hut on Brancaster Staithe. Had to take my own bread but delicious fresh 🦀. Felt no ill effects from either so good news all around.

Goodness so many people visiting some of our favourite places. We visited both La Fleche and Blaye many times on our tours in France. Such happy memories. TDA we have stayed at both the Bolton Abbey and Lower Wensleydale sites and loved them both. Reeth is one of our favourite places. A cousin of OH's father used to own the Burgoyne many years ago and he had relations in the area. WN you are following in our footsteps as we did most of that last week. We had a wonderful time at RSPB Titchwell and ended up on the beach for a lovely walk. We had the beach mostly to ourselves in lovely weather.
It has been one of those weeks here. The gas people returned while we were away and we returned to find that part of our road was closed but luckily we could get into our drive (with difficulty). They turned our gas off all day Wednesday which was interesting as that was the day our hairdresser came so it was a case of boiling kettles to wash our hair. They came to fill in all the holes (with lots of heavy equipment) on Thursday but I did manage to get the car out with some difficulty so that I could go with a friend to an organ recital as part of Stamford's Georgian weekend. We had a lovely tea and chat before the recital in the Orangery The music was wonderful but the seating could have been more comfortable! Grand-daughter and her fiancé moved into their new house today and we are going over tomorrow to have a look. So looking forward to seeing it.
I hope everyone survives the wet and windy weather tomorrow.

We returned yesterday from a 30 night break. We included a stop on a nice CL about 4 miles from Boston simply because we had never visited Boston and were pleasantly surprised.
We also visited the Ferry Meadows site where we have been about 3 times in the last 15 years but this time we went into Peterborough and visited the cathedral. An interesting building and well worth the visit. Also stayed on a C&CC site near to Norwich and really enjoyed its cathedral as well.
It has been a trip visiting at least 5 cities or towns that, although we have been near to in the past, we had never entered.

[Deleted User User] you're making me jealous - NOT 😲. Wishing you a safe sailing. Sooner you than me! I hope you're a good sailor 😉
Sad weekend here. Emptied our motorhome yesterday and now trying to find storage for it in case we get another one. We have someone who advertises in the magazine coming to buy it tomorrow. 😢😢💔

Sorry you are selling up Bakers hope you still come on here and find something for yourselves in the future ,is it because OH is not up to it yet?
Ps we think we will be looking for other ways of "touring" in about two years

Sorry to hear your news B2 hope you can get another later on.
A couple of weeks ago when we were in St Vasst the weather was perfect and we also had a flat calm crossing to Poole.
Had showers on and off all day but for the moment it’s dry and the wind has ,moderated. Have booked a CL for next weekend and 2 club sites for the half term holidays.
Enjoy what’s left of the weekend
