Well you would pick the last weekend of a holiday period to visit there. Unfortunately there are very few CL's in that area, as we've looked or a stay ourselves. Sorry to hear of the delay, at least you've arrived safely. Hope the weather improves for your stay and with a bit of luck the site will empty on Sunday at the latest. How long are you there?

Congratulations Milo, we had our 50th last year when we were away in the van.

TG and Millie, although we've had rain sometime just about every day for the last two weeks it's not stopped us getting out. Again today it was cloudy all day but we had a dry 3 hrs walk through the woods near Cullen, getting back to the car before it rained. Have had a heavy downpour within the last hour which has left puddles in the middle of the site. Hopefully tomorrow will be dry, fingers crossed.

    Hi Nellie.

Typically I didn't check on school holidays when booking. Own fault.

Weather looks half decent for next 2-3 days. After that, who knows. We move again next Friday to a CL in Whitby. Where are you now and has the weather picked up?

Oh dear, I hope so. Last time we went it turned out to be the wettest June on record ๐Ÿ™

Good weather today, so OH decided to tackle the new facias and guttering, at the back of the house, we replaced the front before our holiday. I made myself useful standing on the bottom of the ladder, and passing the tools laughing .

Caught up at work this afternoon, at least the pay for the extra hours I've done will pay for a weekend away! smile

New central locking cable OH had ordered was due to be delivered, but a caravan had flipped over on the M40 and the driver was stuck in the traffic jams.  It closed all 6 lanes for most of the day. surprised

Congratulations Milo on your anniversary. smile

Good to hear, and have a good time tomorrow.

I was once 'volunteered' to go on a weekend cub camp with my son many years ago (he's 26 now) but it certainly taught me never to volunteer again, so big respect (and thanks) to your OH

Hope you enjoy it! We had a Christmas present outing this week courtesy of our eldest daughter. We were the only ones having a very good lunch in a lovely old country hotel so we got special treatment. We staggered out and slept most of the afternoon! smilelaughing

No, it was meant for all and sundry. I should have been promoting it earlier, but forgot. My husband will be on the "Discover Farming" stand, fielding questions from the general public.

Seems to be a mass exodus from Clumber park this morning, still busy, with weekenders, site staff have been out on site late evenings this week after numerous complaints about unsupervised children causing "problems"worst has been last two nights ,Thursday  evening a "cycle races"including some "adults?"surprised and then last night  some "low lifes" thought it would be great to raid the recycle bins of glass bottles and throw them into the children's play area so there was broken glass every where, (but at least they got help from other members to clear up) another  "game?"that has appeared on site has involved some one tripping bollard as they have realised the MCBs are not locked nowundecided

But as we have been out several evenings at the music festival we have missed most of itsmile

Definitely not the type of site to visit during a holiday week I would have thought, or any weekend for that matter.

Not been on for a few days as we've been enjoying the good weather here, 28c today and yesterday, set to reach 30c by midweek frown getting a bit hot for me. The mountains still have snow on the tops so the nightime temp plummets to about 10c, nice for sleeping.

Not sure if we are staying here till mid week or heading to Annecy. Another holiday weekend coming up so want to find somewhere quiet for that one. Annecy wont be thats for sure.

Site busy but no issues like JVB has encountered at Clumber, just the French being, well, Frenchlaughing I think they must all have hearing problems cause not one of them can talk,  they all seem to shout, usually all at the same time laughing

We did 3 waterfalls yesterday, the last one was the most spectacular, good job as the drive up to it was a bit narrow, at one stage OH said "are you sure this is a road" surprisedlaughing

We must be under a main flight path as the amount of planes in the sky way above us is amazing, I  counted 14 earlier on, all zigzagging across the sky, looks like domeone playing noughts and crosses laughing

Hope you have all had a good holiday weekend.

Hope you are having a great time Tammygirl.  We've only ever been to Annecy in the main summer holidays and have found it quite crowded.  Fingers crossed that it might be a bit quieter a little earlier.  We have usually stayed at La Columbiere at Neydens, a bit further N near Geneva, and driven in.

    Enjoy.

We have been down at DD's house today, as usual, and as the weather was a bit better we managed to clear some stuff out of her "shed".....really an outside store room built onto the house.......so that I could put up some big hooks for them to hang folding chairs on, and generally tidy the place up a bit.  More hooks will be needed for gardening stuff, plus some shelves.

In the afternoon, SIL cut the grass while I did strimming and hoovered up fallen stuff, then I put numbers on their bins for them, and adjusted their TV aerial.

Tomorrow and Monday we will stay home and work on dismantling the BBQ and table we are giving them, washing the caravan for our next trip, and various other bits and pieces.

Does somebody wind you up in the morning, Kj? Literally wind that is.laughing

Had a good tromp along Hadrians Wall today. Caught a bus along the road that runs parallel with it and walked the 7 miles back to car park, up hill and down dale. Plenty of crags along the way. Didn't have the same weather as the southern half of the country but it stayed dry and we saved on suntan cream!

Nellie, we'll be staying at Abbey View CL, as we did a couple of years ago.

WN, that's not one we've tried yet. Do you have your bikes with you as it's close to the cycle way isn't it? Sounds like a good walk today.

Good to hear that the weather's been kind to you, TG

We woke to a fine sunny morning, and after getting some washing done we had a gentle walk along the Moray Coastal Trail to Portkockie and beyond to the Bow Fiddle Rock, again. Had lunch sat opposite it watching the seabirds, Razorbills, Guillimots and Rock Doves as well as those we saw the other day. We did have a few spots of rain late in the afternoon, but now the sun is just setting away over the sea.

No, we haven't got bikes this time. CL is very good, spacious but grass pitches. Glorious views and not far from Whitby itself. Haven't met owner yet as she was away on hols last time so we saw daughter, who was very nice. They also have the other CL nearby,  Toft House Farm. That one does have a bit of H/s but lacks the views but would do us fine as well.

Now, that would be an idea, I do tend to run out of steam come 7.30pm, when I am usually to be found asleep in my very comfortable recliner!  laughing

We have got into the (very bad) habit of staying up late to watch interesting things on TV, and staying in bed till 9am, so we need to get into training for going on holiday in a couple of weeks, cut out the late nights and start getting up much earlier.

So now I have the day to do absolutely nothing , can't see that happening.๐Ÿ˜. Hope you all have a relaxing and enjoyable day.

Despite the 25C temperature yesterday we really enjoyed our joint christmas present.  We left home at 6.30am and arrived back home at just gone midnight.  We joined the Northern Bell at Norwich station and journeyed to Bristol for a guided walk around the SS Great Britain.

Fabulous day out and highly recommended.  This was our third trip on the train and the standard is just as high.

Freddy you should go! I went to see the SS Gt B when they started on it, not very impressed but years later I went back and thought it was really good. Quite a shock to see how our ancestors travelled in the third class cabins to far away places. Very nice to see OP's mode of travel, what a great day out. smile

Thanks DSB, we are enjoying it even more so today as the site has now halved in occupancywink when its not a holiday its a lovely tranquil place.

Think we will stay here till midweek, temps in Annecy are to climb to 31c while here is 27c. Looking back my log I see it was 2 years years ago this week we were there. We stayed at StJoriz half way down the lake, really enjoyed it, then we went onto Lake Geneva.

Yesterday afternoon we cycled along the river to Belley, stopped off at McDonalds for an ice cream, then went another few miles along river until we gound a nice quiet spot on the river bank.  I had put a blanket on the back of my bike and OH had the small cool bag with drinks in, so we stopped there for an hour or so just listening to the birds and nothing elsesmile

Currently sat in the shade of the van listening to the frogs, ducks and other birds as for once the folk in the cabin behind us have gone, not sure if its for good or if they will be back. There are 9 of them and they sit on the decking playing games all day and night, the noise at times is deafening.

Might go for another cycle soon, opposite direction today towards a lovely village that do boat rides along the river in a paddle boat.
