Great to hear WN, another great day on the hills. I do think that with decent weather there is no place like Lakeland and even better on the tops. This may sound strange but I always feel sorry in a way for those that go to the lakes but never venture for whatever reason to the summits, they are really missing something. Not decrying their choice in any way but when you're on top it is an amazing feeling.

Have a great time CY.  The last time we were that way - in 2016 - we stayed at Camping Belchenblick at Staufen.  I remember having a pedalo on Lake Titisee many years ago.  These days we just go on the boat ride.  laughinglaughing

Just spent a cracking week at a site I had been to when this club owned it.

Houghton Mill, nr Cambridge, St Ives etc.

Now run by the National Trust, grass pitches everywhere, good condition and plenty of pitches with open views ( I hate being crowded in by trees - Thetford springs to  mind as does Mildenhall and that area generally.)

How nice to feel the grass between the toes, to hear the cuckoo ranging round the area, the owl mournfully seeking a mate (or so it seemed.) Even the blackbirds appeared un-afraid of humans.

Have to admit that warm sunny weather helped a lot.

To all of you out there - enjoy!

We were there the previous week redface and totally agree with everything you say about this lovely site. We love it there. The NT are spending a lot of money on improvements as well. Such a great little site in a lovely area.

Hope you're having a quieter weekend after all the outside noise Millie, we'll be getting some major works near us soon and will have to use diversions to leave home.

After all that nice weather looks as though it's changed for the B/H but hoping to get to our local agricultural show later in the week at the Bath & West.

Have a good weekend one and all. smile

I was hoping for a quiet weekend brue but they are back again this morning yell. Hope you enjoy your local agricultural show later in the week.  Sadly ours (The East of England Show) was discontinued a few years ago.  Such a shame. I always looked forward to it.

We are taking our caravan in to the dealer to have the cracked front window replaced today.  Luckily it is kept in storage as if we kept it at home we wouldn't be able to get it out.  It is a work of art getting the car out through the roadworks never mind a caravan!

oh milliehull I feel for you. Did you have notice of the works? I wondered if that would tell you whether you can expect them for the rest of the weekend 😲.  We had our road completely resurfaced, dug out and new hard-core a few years ago but luckily we were away when it was done immediately outside our house, more by luck than judgement. They redid all the pavements in a similar way more recently and that proved fun and noisy too! Invite yourselves to family and friends to maintain your sanity 😂😂.

We lost the Essex show too many years ago to remember and I miss it. Suffolk still hold one I believe.

Grey and overcast here but not cold, got some washing in and brother and sister in low coming for cuppa and catch up this afternoon, rest of the day undecided as yet.

Whatever you do, wherever you are enjoying your day folks.

Had to unwind the legs after yesterday so we walked into Keswick from the Borrowdale site. Mrs WN found some things to buy at Derwentwater Pencil Museum, we had lunch by the lake and then wandered back, getting a bit wet halfway home.

Site now quite full. Is it half term already?

We noticed that the C&CC members site had a large queue outside waiting to get in with the sign saying "No entry until 1 o'clock today". Is it always that time or a one off? The waiters were clogging up the street when we ambled by just gone 12.

C&CC is always 1pm arrival now - everywhere. In my experience it causes more queues than the old 12 o'clock system.

CS - I tend to find that these days I'm not interested in going up high unless I can get rewarded with a view but I can certainly appreciate the low to medium levels walks, mainly I think, because I can visualise the views from those same hills I'm looking up at. However, whichever way you are walking, the scenery is still stunning.

I think that there are people who can no longer, through age or health, manage the climbs but can still enjoy themselves. I know I'll still be coming here when I can't make it up to the high level.

The locals certainly weren't happy as units were blocking streets or making overtaking them dangerous.

It seems the C&CC have as many "the rules don't apply to us" members as we do.smile

It is normally 1pm, which I don't much like but on our recent trip, on the way home we were staying at Kingsbury Water Park C&CC site and had made better progress than expected. So stopped and gave them a call and was told to come on anyway, arriving at about 12:30. smile

As with CAMC, I think it's always worth ringing in that situation - I guess the wardens are pretty clued up about who's genuinely ahead of schedule and who's just pushing their luck.

The 1 pm arrival is one of the reasons why if the two clubs have sites close to each other I will choose CC.

Lovely sunny hot day today 27c phew!

Did a bit of shopping this morning, then visied Uzes  (thanks to WN)  nice town and the Saturday market was on, boy was it busy.

Late this afternoon we drove to Rocquettes sur Ceze, lovely cascades on the river. Had a look at the campsite there, very nice have noted it for future stop.

Very proud Granny moment today, our eldest grandaughter  (12) has won the school drill and turnout competition. We got photos sent to us this afternoon, she looked so proud of herself and so very smart. Sadly neither us or her parents could be there, happily for her,  her other grandparents were able to attend smile

Not sure what we are doing tomorrow, I think its Mother's day here in France tomorrow. Might just have a lazy day.

Thanks for your kind words Bakers2. Luckily the workmen finished at lunchtime today so we had a lovely peaceful afternoon. I am hoping that Sunday will be their day of rest.  Yes we did have notice, we were all sent letters and then had leaflets about the work put through our doors.  It seems that it is scheduled to last for several weeks frown.  I would think that digging up roads and resurfacing them must be a very secure job at the moment.wink We had a sunny morning and then the sun went in but I got my bedding and towels dry.  Hope you have had  good day.

Yes WN half term started yesterday so I would think that all sites will be fairly busy this week. On checking our C&MC bookings it appears that a lot of their sites are now also 1.00pm arrivals.  We have a slight problem as we have 2 sites in Norfolk booked which are only about 30 miles from each other and one is 12.00 leave time and the next 1.00pm arrival time. I think we will have to drive very slowly between the two sites. laughing I have the feeling that whatever the arrival time is there will always be a queue to get in.

Well done to your grand-daughter Tammygirl.  You must be very proud.  Such a pity that neither you nor her parents could be there but at least she had some family members to support her.

Some nice trips ongoing for some, good to hear. I have had an afternoon in garden, outing things like forgetmenots, cutting back a Montana making a bid for a World domination! I have filled the gaps with some plants I grew from seed last year.

Got a cousin coming round tomorrow for a meal with us all, so decided on a hot buffet. Hoping it won’t rain so we can sit in garden, but forecast is for wet.

Lovely to see plants flowering now, roses looking good, some huge poppies making an appearance. Lifts the spirits.

It must have been a hack of a queue if it was all the way into the town, as it's a couple of hundred yards from the turn off to the site offices.

Well done on the walk yesterday, you both did good (as the saying goes)wink When do you move on and Wherenext?laughing

Glad that those that are away are having good weather, I'm jealous as we're caught up in a wet spell at the moment. Today was a bit mixed, fine then light rain then dry and now heavier rain. Went to have a look at Ardclach Bell Tower and old church before having a walk to Randolph's Leap on the R.Findhorn. Move to Findochty tomorrow, just hope the heavy rain that's forecast holds off till we get there at least.

Yesterday when walking Rosa on the path from the cc site we pass the ccc site and the queue was onto the road outside the site ,they were parked on the grass verges waiting to get  in, and that was just after the 1pm arrival time, there must have been over 20 units in the queue,as we got to the road a loner motor caravan was trying to depart, she said it had taken over 30mins to get  to near entrance where I spoke to her,,I had to stop another caravan outfit trying to get in so she could depart ,there are at least four couples, running the site and everyone of the arrivals is "escorted "to a pitchsurprised

I think there were queues everywhere, the holiday week got off to a busy start!

We went to a wedding yesterday, there were queues for the delicious buffet. wink

Would have liked a lie in but OH was up at 5.30am for fishing so I was woken up by him getting ready to go out. Have visiting dog too so will be off for a walk with him soon, nice to get out in the fields before the world goes out for a walk. smile

Woke this morning to rain, so promptly went back to sleep laughing so now its a late start to the day. Just borrowing a bit of 4g to catch up with posts I missed yesterday, good to read what everyone has been up. Sorry too many to comment on ,but I have read them.

We spent a nice evening in the local pub with a couple also staying on the CL, they make and sell their own cider.

Not sure on our plans for today, forecast says rain due to stop around lunchtime.  our last full day today, home tomorrow, its been a great break.

    Enjoy  the BH  everyone. smile
