When I go to Cornwall, there are two places we especially make a point of going fairly regularly: Roskilly's on the Lizard for a lovely Ice Cream (and they don't do a bad burger either - they also have an outdoor pizza oven but we haven't tried this yet). The other place is Philps Pasties on the 'quay' at Hayle. I always ring up and 'book' our pasties before we get there. These are two regular haunts of ours.... 👍👍👍👍

Ah we can visit the oldest pasty maker, Warrens, we've got one in Yeovil. I did a tour of Warrens bakery in St Just many years ago when I lived down that way...I had one doughnut too many and couldn't touch them for years.
JVB, now I understand, newbies eh?!

There’s no need to starve. Philps can be bought online and delivered to your door👍🏻

All that’s best about the Cornish diet. Philps pasties, saffron cake and Rodda’s cream. Mustn’t forget Kelly’s ice cream as well👍🏻

Two class Cornish eats there DSB. I can give you another. After your Philps pasty from Quay, walk up the quayside towards the huge viaduct, it’s a lovely little 200 metre stroll, with some nice shops on the other side of the road. One of these is Mr B’s Ice Cream Parlour. Now we love a visit to Roskillys, but the ice cream from MR Bs takes freshness and flavour to another dimension.....superb. There’s a bench by the memorial to Rick Rescorra (who died a hero in the 9/11 tragedy) to sit and savour your icy pudding!😁

We arrived on site at 1 this afternoon, we stayed last nightat Strathclyde Park C&MC so an easy 2 hour drive over here today. Site getting very busy glad we got here early as we managed to get a great pitch with lovely views. Lovely weather here so plan is steak for dinner cooked on the Cadac then I may take a wander down to the pub near the site. Hope everyone else has a nice BH weekend.

Arrived in the Black Forest yesterday after a delightful drive through beautiful scenery. Pitched up overlooking Titisee about 20K southeast of Freiburg. Awoke to find that the electric had tripped out for reasons unknown but soon rectified. Cycled along the lake to the town. Numerous rather incongruous 'gift shops' selling chunks of pork and cuckoo clocks. Bizarre mix. Have run out of beer so a trip to a supermarket tomorrow.

Not so hot today as we have a few clouds, did the washing this morning, all dry by lunchtime.
Cycled down to the Pont after lunch, didn't take minutes to do so. Got a couple of nice photos, really impressive structure.
Then cycled through the town and found Lidl at the far end so picked up a few bits, will need a bigger shop tomorrow as we need fresh milk, Lidl don't do fresh milk in France
Will check out Bagnols sur Ceze and Uzes either Saturday or Sunday. There was a storm forecast for Saturday but seems its now not coming
Hope you all have a good BH home or away.

Well that was a day and a half, spent on the hills in the Lakes. We parked at Buttermere and walked up Red Pike, which is a bit of a climb as it doesn't go laterally but just vertically, by means of lacettes. Then along to High Stile and Hay Stacks. The views from the col between Red Pike and High Stile were magnificent, looking towards Skiddaw, Robinson and Crummock one way and the big mountains of Scafell and Great Gable the other. Good job the weather was sunny.
Took us a bit longer than normal but pleased that we managed it, at 3,500' climbed and 10 miles walked. A few aches now, mainly my feet but we've refreshed with a shower and a M&S Chilli Con Carne and rice supper. The bottle of Broadside is for medicinal purposes only.
