Note for Nellie about Star Carr.

There's no access to it at present but the local terrain is walkable in places. I tried to have a look at it from Cayton village, the signage is missing to Folkton but the route is via Station road. There are some special finds from the site in York museum which got me interested further, also Scarborough museum I think?

The wetlands project in the area gives lots of information. I found it fascinating to think people were living there so long ago, it doesn't seem possible now.

Here's a wetlands link which notes walks etc. Visiting the Carrs LINK.

Can't get rid of the advert....surprised

Lovely sunny day again, still with the cold wind though.

Visit to town this morning to collect an item I'd ordered from Next, surprise, surprise it fitted smile OH took himself off to the post office to get his IDP's PO here has not run out so hurray he got both of them done.

That's another thing off the list of things to do before we head off again.

Another couple of hours in the garden after lunch so now all the garden is nice and tidy smile

If its nice tomorrow the cars will get a wash after we have been to see Mum.

Hope you are all having a good weekend, don't forget the clock's go forward tonight, Sorry ABM wink

We’ve had a lovely day today. Leisurely start on a lovely CL (no racing about trying to get a shower before cleaning starts!), short drive into Skipton, cheap easy park up with MH, and a browse round bustling town on market day. I dropped on great at a smashing little fabric shop, got the material I have been after for £21 per metre cheaper than I saw it last time out! A real bargain, so I shall be busy when I get home. Then a nice drive up to Embsay reservoir and a stroll round in sunshine with dogs, and then a great drive back to CL a very scenic route. Absolutely silent here now back on site, there isn’t a light to be seen all around. We are stopping here our last night rather than dropping down to Bolton Abbey Club Site tomorrow.

That sounds like a good day out TDA. We've just about recovered from all our recent travels, if it hadn't been for the tap dancing in 42nd Street which we saw last night I think I'd have fallen sleep in the theatre!

Been a lovely little tour, lots to see and do. We have found some very interesting out of the way historical places, rather than the well known ones. Came across a house called Friar’s Head today. Dates back to Tudor times, but originated much earlier as a hunting lodge for the Abbots of Furness. Can only be viewed from roadside, but very interesting nonetheless. Only half a mile from CL.

I went to the Opticians this week and I'm sure they said that my eyesight had hardly changed in the last 2 years but I read your post as going to see lap dancing.surprised Maybe I should change opticians, although she did compliment me on my "great jelly".!! I don't know if that's a new chat up line but doubt it somehow.

Finally able to get around to washing the caravan after returning a week ago. A few things to sort out on Monday like picking up prescriptions then we're off.

When do you escape abroad, TG?

Sounds like a good trip Ttda. Always liked Skipton. In fact any place where the main street is called Sheep Street is ok with me.

We're over that way, fingers crossed, in late June.

Another beautiful day today, so it was shorts again. Went for a 3 1/2hr circular walk from site past Fort Henry Lake and back through Exton, one of the nicest little villages we've seen in a long time. Managed a hour or so sat reading outside in the sun after getting all those little jobs done that need doing for an early start in the morning.

When do you escape abroad, TG?

Not for another 5 weeks frown we have the youngest and his family coming to visit for a night each end of his Scottish holiday. Then its take the eldest grand daughter back to boarding school time and if we are lucky we will get away for a few days to check everything out with the van.

Are you going to be able to get away abroad?

TDA sounds like you've had a great time away.

Sounds like a nice break Trellis. Decided not to rush around today, catch up with the lost hour and have another session in the greenhouse with all those nice packets of seeds I couldn't resist earlier in the year. I grow extra for a local plant sale and pot up surplus from the garden so none of it gets wasted.

Nellie, you're in an area we want to return to, there are some lovely village around. I've been looking at CLs near Melton Mowbray for a later trip.

Enjoy your trip WN and anyone else away just now.

Have a good day one and all. smile

Just back from an amble through the woods, thought I would have a quick catch up,  site WiFi seems to be working 😉probably because site is emptying after the weekend. It's nice to read about what you have all been up to. ☺

Had a bit of drama when OH came back from dog walk first thing,  another caravanner had been taken ill and his wife shouted to OH as he passed. Wardens alerted and ambulance called.  Hopefully all will be ok.

Managed to find a small plastic jug in Stamford yesterday,  Have been looking for one for the van for a while. Also visited the bakery and came away with lots of goodies 😊 think I may need to do a bit more walking!  😁😁

Happy Mothers Day to all mother's and hope all have a good day.  Now off to make the most of our last day on-site.

Brue , it was really nice thank you. When we booked it earlier in the year I would have been happy if it was just dry ,but to spend 2 afternoons sitting in the sunshine eating ice creams such a bonus.😀.

Sorry,  David,  but  I'm  not  a  fan  of  things  running  on  rails   -- Brian  much  prefers  things  with  a  steering  wheel  or  tiller  laughing ( but  I'm  close  enough  to  hear  them  tooting,  hooting  &  chugging  away  and  at  least  I  can  enjoy  the  sounds innocent )
