    Good luck Bakers.

Fortunately they couldn't find anything too serious with my throat so will have to take medication and revisit in 3 months time. Bit of a problem with meds due to my underlying kidney problem but we think a compromise will work, hence the revisit.

Went for some blood tests this morning. Books in for 9.50. turned up to see huge queue as only 1 Phlebotomist on duty as 2 others off ill. Poor woman was rushed off her feet and impatient people didn't help.

Feel a bit like Cindarella today as spent a large portion of it in the kitchen cooking various meals for MIL for the freezer for when we go away in about a weeks time. Some more to do tomorrow. Funnily enough I seem to have lost my appetite at the moment.

Best wishes for next week Millie. There was an article in the newspaper on Saturday written by one of my least favourite people, Janet Street Porter. She was saying that, in her area, her mother's health board has postponed Cataract Ops as not necessary. Basically JSP was asking whether it was acceptable for these boards to allow the elderly and those in need to just go blind. Had to agree with her sentiments this time. Changing specs and sunglasses each year is a very expensive business. Mrs WN usually has to change but she got away with it this year and merely bought some not so expensive sunglasses clip ons. She seems to like them.

Chores collecting and paying for new supply of contact lenses. Didn't bring credit card 😲 so had to pay instantly and loose out on cashback earning. Anyone would think I was preoccupied 😂😂.  Buying cards, mothers day, she's already saying not seen me for 9 weeks!, wrapping paper and having another hole punched into my belt to keep my jeans up.

Wherenext sounds promising when you're on regular meds it can be difficult to take others without causing issues.

Oh so it appears the postcode lottery will include cataracts, I thought the clue was in the name NATIONAL Health Service. I sincerely hope they aren't taking that stance in our area.

Back home after  our brilliant trip to North Norfolk.  Weather as really good and walks across beaches, dunes and farm land fantastic.  Walked 35 miles in our 3.5 days.  10 days and off again.

Hope the new awning works for you Millie.

No work done here today, OH had 2 big fillings replaced this morning while I went shopping.

Visit to Mum's care home to have a chat with the manager, nothing wrong with Mum's care we are offering our help. The home has 3 gardens, 2 are for the residential folk.

The 3rd is for the Dementia folk, it is a courtyard type garden with only 1 access point from their unit. Its badly in need of a make over. The raised beds need to be redone, the wood is starting to rot and has nails showing, not good for old folk never mind dementia.

The plants that are growing up the trellis are needing a good cut back and pots need to be replanted. Unfortunately like most homes money and labour is in short supply. OH has offered to rebuild the planters and I will do the pots and trellis x 3. There is a new resident in the other unit that is a keen gardener, he's been working wonders on their 2 gardens and is keen to help out on the dementia one. OH is going to see if the Men's shed want to help out with making wooden ornaments and bird boxes etc. It should be great once done. smile All we need now is some warm weather, they are threatening snow up here again frown

Glad to hear your procedure went better than anticipated WN

We did that walk 2 weeks ago, OP. There was not much in bloom then except for some Camellias. There was an engine under steam when we were there, 90775, a War Department "Austerity" 2-10-0, which was repatriated from Greece, now renamed "The Royal Norfolk Regiment".

Bakers2 if you have a look on the BHF web site there is some good info on there and help/chat if needed. I have used BHF for various things when needed. Will be thinking of you.

Apologies to all, can't respond to posts but have read them, wending homewards after a nice break. smile

Sorry to hear that you're still having problems, B2. Hope that OH soon gets his operation done and he can get home.

Glad to hear that your examination went ok, WN, and that you can stick with your present medication.

Good luck with the results of your MIR exam and the 24hr monitoring, JVB.

Millie, fingers crossed that you can get your cataracts sorted soon. Daughter is having problems with one of her eyes, and has an appointment to see an ophthalmotist as soon as can be arranged. Her doctor thinks it's the result of the shingles she had a couple of years ago.

Have now moved up to another new to us CL in a county we'd not stayed in before, GreethamHouse Fm, Oakham, Rutland. It started off fine and sunny this morning but with a chill wind. It clouded up as we came north, but did warm up somewhat. This is the 7th and last of our  new CLs this trip, with 2 more that we've used before to complete this trip.

Thanks for the link Bakers2.  I have had a read. Very interesting.  My optician was at great pains to ask what my hobbies and interests are and how they are impacted.  I stressed my need to drive and how I rely on it.  I also mentioned that going swimming is difficult as I can't see without my glasses.  He mentioned prescription swimming goggles but I declined as that is not the whole problem.  I can't see when I get out of the pool!! Anyway he still decided that I didn't meet the criteria frown Still thinking of you and your OH and hoping and praying that all will be well.

Well done Tammygirl.  What a great project. It sounds as though it will be lovely when it is finished and will be much appreciated.

Good luck with your results JVB.  Hope all will be well.

Must be the day for it. I managed to get the overcab part polished yesterday, which is the worst as it is hard to prop a ladder close enough to reach it all. Will try and finish the rest of the roof today and the remainder of the van after a period of recuperation.

Best wishes to those with health issues, hope things are still moving positively.

We stopped off at Rutland Water one tour Nellie, did a bit of a walk, can’t remember name of CL we stayed at, but was close to Lichfield.

Day 4 and 5 of our no bookings tour.........Hawes Club Site. We left Lower Wensleydale at 11.30, tootled down dale, and found ourselves in some sort of merrygo round at 12.15pm at Hawes site. Oh we thought, have we dropped a clanger not booking? No, plenty of space for our two nights. We are in splendid isolation on the far side of the site, shunned by most who fear having to reverse!🤔 Expensive site though, but handy for Ropeworks, and I suppose it saves car park fees in village. Might have to book weekend though, weather is nice here, and area is heaving with vans and MHs.😁

Another trip up to Aberdeen today, this time to collect the caravan. Warranty work (modification from Alko) to the brakes seems to be working, no awful Squealing on the way home.

Just for info anyone travelling up the East coast of Scotland the Aberdeen bypass is now open and what a difference it makes. OH says it cut 40 - 45 mins off our journey time to Dyce (which is near the airport)

Van now home and could do with a good wash, its going to have to wait until it get warmer though, as we are still getting frost overnight and about 12c during the day with a biting cold wind from the north.

We cancelled the car insurance today and moved back to SAGA, fed up with banging our head off a brick wall with other company. Various conversations in the last few days about EU cover, green card for car and caravan, length of time we can be abroad in any one trip, how long over the year. Just don't need the hassle and frankly we've lost faith in them so moved to someone we can trust.frown

That's great news, guessing Anderson drive won't be quite so congested

Been fairly dull here most of the day so good for car cleaning

Arrived in Banchory on Monday and have had pretty decent weather so far.  Half hour delay not long after we left home, lorry had shed its load on the M8 in the middle of Glasgow, so it was 14.15 before we got here.

Despite a mid week discount, the site is pretty quiet. 22 out of 62 pitches occupied when we arrived, 26 yesterday, and 31 today.  Considerably more caravans than MHs.

Yesterday we took a trip to Ballater and found a nice cafe for lunch, today we were treated to a very nice lunch in Aberdeen by OH's elderly second cousin.  4 more days here till we head to Speyside.

Used the new bypass coming here, a bit further to drive but a lot quicker and quieter.  OH's cousin lives on North Anderson Drive and says it has made a huge difference to the volume of traffic, especially HGVs.

Kjell, did you think to try Greenpark CL at Banchor? Not far outside of the town and great H/S, with toilet too.

Great to hear that the Aberdeen bypass is open, as we will be travelling down that way in June from near Inverurie to Laurencekirk.

Thanks millie, had a walk beside Rutland Water today and intend heading to Burghley House to visit the gardens and a walk in the grounds tomorrow, as well as popping into Stamford.

It's more bike friendly than for walking, as there are quite a length of tarmac paths adjacent to roads, unfortunately.

Burghley is good Nellie. Very interesting, and has a nice cafe in the Orangery I think. We weren’t too keen on Rutland Water for walks, as you say, better for bikes.

Just a mooch around Hawes for us today, have ordered our new banister ropes from Outhwaite's, very interesting watching ropes been made. Good dog walk here at Hawes, we are situated overlooking it, out on our own but rest of site is heaving with folks, all having a nice time. We are laid in bed now, listening to curlews piping in next field, sounds lovely.😁

We did look at it but decided to use the Club site as our dates were a little uncertain, ( we did need to change them in the end ) and the mid week discount makes the cost quite reasonable at this time of year.

If we were coming at a busy period, we would most likely try to book onto the CL as it is well priced, especially with HSs and toilet etc.

We managed to put up our new air awning yesterday and it is looking very smart.  However I shall be going to our local dealer to buy an electric pump before our next trip out!!  Lovely weather here so we are off out for a walk now.

I hope all those away are having a good time and enjoying the lovely weather as well.

    Enjoy your day folks!

Good day here today so I've been in the garden smile housework first this morning and a visit to the Chiropractor.

Feeling a bit stiff now but happy I've finally got into the garden.

Eldest son due in the next 30 min he is staying overnight, he's up to collect his daughter from boarding school. School holidays start up here this Friday.  I'm going to enjoy having him here tonight, its not often he is here on his own.smile

Glad you got the awning up ok millieH, I don't blame you getting an electric pump, we've watched folk put them up it looks hard work.
