What are you all up to

We have to empty the van when it goes for service around end of February every year, so the first trip out always means a lot of sorting and repacking, then most stuff will stay in the van until our last trip of the year which is usually October.
Usually we are more organised, with all the caravan stuff lined up in one room, but with DD's house move involving us storing a pile of their stuff since last May, things are not where they ought to be. I just hope something essential does not get left behind!
Car needs a good clean out as I have been transporting logs for my wood turning club. Sunny today so better go and get on with things!

Out early to local farmer's market, came away with plenty of goodies,
. Got some sunshine today after a cloudy week, washing pegged out blowing dry nicely.
It is last week at work for OH next week, decided it's time to retire or take some time out as he's calling it.
I've been asked to make cakes for him to take in for work colleagues, just deciding what sort.
Our caravan is kept almost ready to go, I only usually need to put food and clothes in, only takes minutes
Enjoy your day at Titchwell Oneputt.

Exciting times H&T. My sister made a huge Dime Bar cake for my OH to take into work when my he retired. He was Watch Manager in Fire Service, so a really good last night shift. They invited me as well, OH ordered a huge curry buffet for everyone.........you’ve guessed it........bells went down as we all sat down, so I ended up keeping everything warm in kitchen for them. Fortunately a small fire, out in five minutes. It was a good night. The next five years have been a roller coaster ride for various reasons, but so glad we have both now finished work.
Hoping we shall get away in next few days, lovely here this morning.😁

Lovely sunny day here. We've been for a drive out to test various car functions - e.g. SatNav though we knew where we were going. The scenic route to Penrith (via A591 Windermere/Ambleside etc) was frustrating - a small hole in the road, no workmen but traffic lights.
The car seems to have plenty of oomph and is quiet and comfy. I've adjusted the passenger seat (up, down, backwards and sideways) to suit me - so woe betide anyone who alters it! We have a Remote App for the car so can monitor speed and mpg etc after each journey. Penrith to Kendal over A6 Shap was 36 mpg. I'm going to be spouting a lot of statistics!

Back home again, arrived late Thursday night.
Friday was spent unpacking, doing the washing and going shopping.
Today we were up early'ish to take the caravan up to Aberdeen, its in to have the modification done to the brakes, here's hoping they will stop squealing after its done.
It was a lovely drive up, the sun was out, the hills covered in snow but boy was it cold brrrrr!
Tomorrow we will visit Mum in the morning, then out to visit eldest Grandaughter in the afternoon before she goes South next Friday for the Easter break.
Been having a catch up on CT, lots been happening.
KJ, have a lovely break away you certainly deserve it.
H&T, exciting times OH finishing work, can't believe its 8 years since we both finished. Where has all the time gone.
Bakers2, so sorry to hear that your OH has had another set back, our thoughts are with you. Visiting hospitals isn't up there on my list of favourite things to do, thankfully its been a short stay if I've had to do it at all. It gets very tiring going back and forth and the problems you have both faced must be getting you down at times, as others have said coming on here and 'chatting' letting off steam at times can help.
Garden isn't looking to bad which is a good job as its not going to get anything done until it warms up a bit. Grass not needing cut yet
but there will be a bit of tidying up to do. The daffodil's are starting to open up now, the crocus are going over as are the snowdrops. I want to empty and replant one part of our garden so will be visiting a garden centre or two in the coming weeks

Hope you enjoyed your holiday TG, we're enjoying a very short break in the NE. Nice weather so lots of people out and about but too chilly to sit outside for long.
Helen, hope your OH has a good send off and a happy retirement. I wonder what cake you chose to make?
We had a family lunch in Whitley Bay today, very nice in the refurbished Spanish City.

Getting there, slowly, with the packing. Bathroom sorted, bedding in place, all bits and pieces stashed, front drawers culled and all small items put into a couple of boxes, why did we not think of that before? So much tidier!
Car is cleaned out and will be packed tomorrow, so otherwise just the clothes and food to do.
We are travelling light this time, probably too cold to sit or eat outside so dining table and chairs are being left behind, as is the 2 ring hob we can use outside. No cool box as extra drinks storage will not be needed.
No washing machine needed as we will have sufficient clothes with us, in an emergency we can always resort to a site machine or a laundrette.
However the bread maker is coming as we like our home made bread.
The van is strangely empty!

I can't remember what I set it at now KjellNN. I must have researched it at the time. I have not needed to revisit it K. Depending on the existing room temp and humidity I suppose it either comes on earlier in the shower or later. If we bring things in from outside to hang in the shower because they have not fully dried out on the undercover line outside during winter the system often kicks in for a time at some point. I suspect that I chose the lower setting of about 65%.
I remember that when I initially hooked up it ran for a while anyway and that I left the cover off whilst it was trialled.

The same with caravans!
I keep fivers both in the car glove box (most of the time) and in the overhead locker that has my undies. Typically somewhere between £80 and £200. A few years ago I emptied the caravan for service and later after taking it in got a call from the service manager to say that I had left £150 in the top locker and it was in the safe for when I collected the van.

Missed a distressing call from OH about 10pm had 3 voicemail messages wasn't sure where he was, cos I was asleep and hadn't taken phone off silent. Spoke to stroke ward when i discovered messages, who checked and said he asleep in his bed around midnight. (Not convinced this was the case now! ) Arrived to visit him not on stroke ward, not sure where he went so I said he was going to cardiac when bed available. I went cardiac ward and found him, no one knows when he moved! No idea on ICD fit yet. Had a CT scan this pm. I'll ensure I'm in at 8am on Monday to speak to Dr to follow things up. It as 9 wks on Friday, he's holding up well. So am I all things considered.
I can't believe the shambles this hospital is! He's in a really cold side ward, in bed with fleecy trousers long sleeved top dressing gown 2 blankets doubled an another on four over his feet. Showered him and the floir swims in water that runs out into tge room 😲. Ask for mop, HCA comes in and uses our stock of 6 clean white towels to dry tge floor - diesnt replace them! 😤 Care on the cardiac ward hasn't improved! He's very tired & a bit disorientated hopefully a decent night will improve things.
Thanks for all your good wishes.
Tammygirl glad you had a good holiday, jealous moi?
Goldie glad you're sorting your new car
Helenandtrevor new horizons ahead, will you be joining him or has someone got to bring home the bacon?
Have a good weekend folks.
Edit been waiting 10 mins for bus, ambulance parked in bus place, saw my bus ran out waving frantically he drove off 😤😢. Another 30 minute wait!

B2 I really feel for you and the appalling service that seems is coming from the Hospital, it must be really upsetting for you,,can you talk to your GP as they seem to have some input,
It was our GP who pushed my case after all my records from my Blue light episode we're "mislaid/lost"by the hospital,he/she will be unaware of the problems you have encountered these past weeks

Bakers, both Mrs WN and myself wish either one of us could give you a great big hug and tell you that it's alright to have a damned good cry and howl at the injustice of it all. We can only give you a long distance hug but our metaphorical shoulders are there if you want a cry. It shouldn't be like this. Best wishes.

Stay strong B2, we're think of you both. All the others have said what needs to be said. Stick in there.

Indoors now, had a video chat with daughter and hot chocolate, wont be long before I climb the wooden hill.
Thanks for all your support and tips, very much appreciated. Son on his stag do, local night out and golf tomorrow, so nice to have some ears to bend 😂.
JVB nice idea, first I need time and then actually getting a GP appointment. But I'll bear it in mind.

I really feel for you Bakers2. What a rotten time you are having. I cannot believe the ineptitude of the hospital. Fancy not knowing which ward your OH had been sent to. I cannot believe it. It should all be recorded on their computer system. Stay strong and know that we are al here for you to vent your frustration. A big virtual hug from me.
I will reply to other's posts another time.

Same goes from me as well Bakers, communication is often one of the worst aspects of hospital, between teams, between wards, and with next of kin. Hope you get a bit of a break sometime, it is so tiring day after day.

Once again thanks for all your kind thoughts and allowing me to rant!
Glorious morning here, first we've had as it's been grey cloud. Indulging myself with a cuppa on a garden bench after a bit of gardening. OH 'hidden' bench needs a good scrub, rather green, but that can wait for another day. Friends cut the grass for me on Friday, half a brown bin full! VERY VERY grateful. It's amazing how a grass cut improves the look of the garden. Another friend has offered to clean my house right through as soon as we get a date for OH's release 😉. I'll be taking that offer up too!
Enjoy your Sunday folks

Don't fret about Ranting B2, I'd be doing a darn sight more if it was one of my family.
Take JVB's advice about the GP very seriously -- lay it on with a trowel if need be. Get the Hospital to realise that they could have both of you on their hands if they don't buck their ideas up
.

I appreciate you are not time rich at the moment with going backwards and forwards to the hospital but would it be worth phoning your surgery and asking the doctor to phone you? You probably don't need an actual appointment just to have a chat. Some surgeries prefer this course of action as it has a minimum demand on the doctors. You will have to give the receptionist some details as to why you want the doctor to phone.

We are just home fr om a nice weekend at Ayr Craigie C&MC site one of our local haunts. Weather yesterday was ok I met up for a few drinks with an ex work colleague while SWMBO went round the shops. Got home just after 12 this afternoon and got the caravan cleaned it was filthy after our Southport trip last week. We are not away next weekend but are planning on heading over to Berwick the following week for 3 or 4 nights
