Had a busy day. MiL had a bit of a scare and the triage nurse managed to get her an urgent appointment. Doctor thinks it is just a reaction to the medication she was recently prescribed so has written to the specialist that is seeing her and asked for an alternative. She has given her a lower dosage prescription to keep her going.

We booked a CL in the Lakes. NTH stayed there recently. So, fingers being crossed we'll disappear for 5 nights on Friday but be back for MiL's appointment for her other problem on Thursday. MiL seems happier now that problem has been locked at so she is happy for us to go, at least for a few nights.

We are back from our cruise.

What a journey home that was. Its taken us 3 days to start to feel more like normal (what ever that is).

Had a good time, surprisingly we liked Dubai surprised the temperature was just about perfect at 27c bit hazy most of the time but not the mind numbing heat that can be experienced for most of the year. January and February seemingly the best months to visit. No problems encountered at airport which is huge. Plenty of things to do and lots of places to eat, hotel was good and right on the river. We had views of the riverside with all the tour boats coming up and down and a 7km riverside walk which was very nice to do in the evening when it was all lit up. We decided to try the metro to get around and glad that we did, what a terrific cheap and efficient  service it is. All in all Dubai was a good experience.

Qatar and Oman also a good experience.

India on the other hand we did not like.  Sri Lanka was a bit better but we didn't get to see anywhere near the wonderful things that Moulsey is seeing.

Puket and Penang was lovely, the highlight though had to be Singapore. We had lots of info from my sister who had been out there last year, so had made a list of the 'must do's' we never stopped. Sadly we never made it to Raffles for a Singapore sling as its closed for 12 mths for a complete refurb. The gardens in the bay were amazing as was the botanical gardens where we had a visit to the orchid garden, such stunning flowers when seen in their own habitat.

I've finally got the washing and ironing done, already to be sorted and repacked in a weeks time to go to Lanzarote.

I've had a quick catch up on CT, sorry to hear that Bakers2 and her OH have been having a rough time of it, hope things are now getting a bit better for them.

Kj, I see you are still at it, wish I had your stamina.

Brue sorry to hear that your ankle is still giving you bother.

MillieH, I guess you are having a busy time with your family from Ireland visiting, I'm also sure you will be loving it.

I will catch up with everyone else over the next few days, take care for now.

    1. No definitely not the end of the world bakers2. Car park charges at East Midlands not as expensive as Stansted ànd didn't break the bank. Sorry to hear that you still have concerns about your OH but pleased to hear that he is making steady progress. I hope you have managed to see the consultant and he has put your mind at rest. KJellN comments sound very reassuring. I hope your cataract assessment was better than last time.
    2. (Where have these bullet point numbers come from? I can't get rid of them yell)

    Welcome back Tammy.

We all enjoyed Singapore when we lived there at RAF quarters way back in the Middle Ages. I remember loving the statues at the Tiger Balm Gardens , now the Haw Par Villa. Sadly had to leave all too early but would love to go back. Can't get Mrs WN to go to India. So when do you fly out to Tenerife? Or is it Lanzarote?smile

Quiet day. Getting clothes ready for trip away this weekend. MrsWN busy re-hemming some walking trousers she found in a sale in Mountain Warehouse. Also taking in some ones for me around the waist, sylph like don't you know.innocent

Took the ladies off to a small shopping area near Chester. Forgot it was half term! Yikes.

Welcome back Tammygurl. Your cruise sounds absolutely wonderful. We loved Dubai when we went there for a few days when we stayed with our son when he lived in Abu Dhabi. It's a different world. We saw all the archaeological and historical sites though as son was still an archaeologist at the time laughing. I would love to go to Singapore. I have a friend whose grand-daughter is living there for a few years so she has been over to stay with her a few times and loves it. I think you must be off to Lanzarote the same time as we go to Tenerife. We are off a few days after our son and family leave so it is going to be 'all systems go' although I have sorted out most of the clothes. Let's hope we don't get The Beast from the East this time surprised

Your few days away sound lovely Helen. How nice to meet up with your eldest son and his girlfriend and weren't you lucky with the weather. cool

Enjoy your few days away WN and I hope all will be well with your MIL. Yes town is best avoided this week . laughing

Welcome back Tammygirl,  your trip sounded exciting , glad you enjoyed it.

Work today,  but did get all the washing pegged out jn the sunshine to dry. Also gave the van a quick clean, so it's ready for a quick get away,  if the chance comes.wink

OH took the dog to the vets today,  we found a couple of strange raised spots, turns out that they are "doggie warts" and nothing to worry about.laughing

Had a call from  youngest son tonight, catch up on his Vienna trip. He is thinking of camping at the CAMC Brecon site, his reasoning being,  it will have a good shower /toilet block. winklaughing

Hope you enjoy your trip Wherenext.

Enjoy your time with the family Millie .

Monk Farm. Sneaton, No.1833 in current Site Directory. It is well above Whitby so coming from the north one has to drive up Oakley Bank 1 in 6, from Ruswarp. Good basic site which we hope to use again in the future.

Hope that MIL is feeling better now that she's on a lower medical dose. Enjoy your time in the Lakes. The road up the east side of Windermere may still be closed, so take your copies of the relevant OS maps for alternative routes to the central Lakes.

Sounds like a very interesting trip TG. Nice to read about but not somewhere we would consider visiting.

Glad that you had a good time in Derbyshire, H&T. Our dogs, including Flyte, have had "doggie warts" but none seem to have suffered from them, thankfully. Hope that those that your dog has aren't in a location that can be chewed.

Glad to hear that the family have arrived safely, millie, and that the parking charges weren't to exorbitant.

Drove over to Grosmont today, stopping on the tops for a couple of short walks on the moor. Then after lunch we walked from the station along the Rail Trail only as far as Beck Hole and back, as we were on a 2 hr park. It was quite cool up on the moor but really spring-like down in the valley.

Have been out to a Chinese Extravaganza at our local theatre. They are moving on to Peterborough tomorrow meanwhile I hope I don't get nightmares about a contortionist in a tube! It was like visiting China without the long flight. wink

Enjoyed hearing about TG's trip, everyone else sounds busy too.

I thought I recognised it when you said it looked over the town......we stayed there last summer.

Have they widened the access yet, there were plans to move a bit of an old wall just before the gate?  We got in OK, but coming out again was very tight.  Had to make 2 attempts and have both OH and another camper watch my sides!

    Nice site otherwise.

Hope you get it sorted in time David.

Are you moving the Thule, buying new, or going for something different?  If you are putting the Thule on the new van and leaving the brackets on the old van, will it make much difference to part exchange value?

    David

Bit jealous Nellie, love the North Yorkshire Moors, we did the Rail Trail walk last October , but walked from Esk Valley to Goathland, the cute pub at Beck Hole made a nice break mid way.

There is a nice circular walk from Falling Foss following the river to May Beck and back via the forest . We did it from the club's NYM Site.

Enjoy the rest of your time there, we will be back that way in October all being well.smile

Had a great couple of days with the grandtwins but totally exhausted, I’m sure I didn’t have that amount of energy when I was their age🏋️‍♀️ Off out in the van tomorrow for a long weekend.🌞

Went into the van this morning to turn on Alde heating for a few days to warm it up prior to service, only to find the Alde is not working for some reason.

No time to check it out today as we had dentist and doctor appointments, so have put in a fan heater meantime.  Just what we need !!  yell

After going to DD's flat for gas check tomorrow am, it will be back to her house for more little jobs.

Saturday we are off to meet up with former work colleagues for lunch...bit to travel so may take most of the day.

Thanks for all your thoughts and good wishes. Just a quick update.

OH still in ITU, day 7. Did the op without using bypass machine so heart beat all the time. Unfortunately he's suffered a stroke. Today he sat out in the chair, 1st time, for 1&3/4 hours. He stood, balanced on each leg and stepped round to sit in chair. He was very tired after. Once back in bed he was soon sound asleep. Thanks for thinking of us. Son, and grand dog down to visit today and tomorrow. Nice to have some company 😉

Now got into a good routine for visiting. Parking still difficult but I arrive about 1pm plenty of time if parking full, but not been so far, take myself to the canteen very reasonable food and prices for all, have something proper to eat. Then trundle over to the ward and leave when I'm ready often almost at the close 7.30pm then drive home. Payment is on number plate recognition and pay on exit - max £10 but I reckon it would be at least that for my bus fare plus 1 hour 20 minutes each way and 15 minute walk to from the bus from home.

I'm managing to read posts so keep them coming, some escape!

Don't think that they've moved the wall yet, Kjell. I'll just have to take it carefully on the way out tomorrow. I did think it a bit tight coming in, but thanks for the info.

If I do get our without mishap I think that we will be coming back sometime in the future, as there is a lot to do and see in the area.

Sitting  here  with  sore  fingers  from  scratching  my  head surprised !!

Got  a  Letter  from  surgery  today  telling  me  to  make  appointment  to  hear  the  ( dodgy )  result  of  recent  thyroid  bloods,  and  probably  get  an  increased / altered  medication.yell

Would  not  have  been  concerned  too  much,  but  lower  down  the  page  was  a  request  to  TEXT  IN  my  Name,  D -O -B,  &  Latest  mobile  phone  number.  Dammit  they  addressed  the  letter  to  me,  they  send  reminders  to  me  by  text  &  they  accept  Medication  Requests  by  e-mail  from  me  every  month.  Now  I'm  wondering  if  the  Doc's  have  organised  a  contract  for  technical  electronic  works  update  with  some  ex-C&MC  IT chappies  undecided

It does upset me, having to type all this with sore splintered fingers  wink!

Thanks, Helen, we've done that walk too when we were at NYM, but the last time the bridge was down so we couldn't do the full circuit.

We did an interesting walk this afternoon from Sandsend, up through the Mulgrave Estate to the Old Castle. I think that one could make a full day's walk out of it up to Motte and beyond.
