B2, Good to hear that OH has managed to get out of bed, be it only for a short while.
Can you not get a weekly car pass at the hospital? They do one at ours and it's less than they charge for 3 days separately.

Don't seemed to have stopped but also don't seem to have achieved a great deal.
Caravan partly packed, shopping done but seemed to have forgotten some of it.
Anyway off out for lunch tomorrow seeing my cousin and her husband. Wondered what the pub would have said if we would have arrived with the caravan on the back and just carried on to the Lakes from there? Too late to ring them now.
Oneputt, we ALL had their energy when we were their age. My mother used to threaten me with nailing my feet to the floor to stop me wandering. How often did we get called in at night when it really was too dark. Still playing. Those were the days. I miss being 30.

It has been a busy week so far, monday car for MOT and service 3hrs needed , 0830 start, it is a week since op?
,no auto loan car when got there,so would it be ok to just do MOT today? then Branch manager said to use his automatic for the day
,and i thought our car was full of toys
,so service to be done,
Call from garage at 1400 to say found that front discs and pads very near worn out,(towing over 2000 miles in uk last year did not help)more expence
Picked car up at 1640 much more than first thought on credit card
Tuesday about 0900 call from garage manger to admit they had overcharged me and could i come over as they would give me a refund
so i got £185 back and some "goodies" for my "understanding
,
Today it was to club site storage to open fridge door (it was ok),and some shopping at Aldi
One thing i have noticed is how tired the last couple of days has made me,,not felt when just walking Rosa did not seem to have the same effect
B2 i was not expecting stents to be required when i had my angiogram, so your OH not having to have any bypasses is a better outcome for you i am sure, and it will be just time before he is home best wishes

NTH- we really hope you enjoy New Willow Cottage. It's a stunning CL and so pretty with the small lake. We left a review if you haven't already seen it. If you want any more info about the area, just ask.
ADD, sorry about the delay in saying thanks for the info. If there are any places close by that you think that we'd be interested in please point me in the right direction. Not really interested in towns but beaches, historic houses, woodland and any good places to walk Flyte are the sort of thing.

You will not be as long as us, so maybe not such a big problem. With a 7.95m van, we are about 12.75m overall.
Quite a long time before last year since we were in Whitby, that tIme we stayed in a friend's holiday home in Robin Hoods Bay. We thought the town had gone slightly downhill, and the parking is very difficult. We used the P&R despite having to pay, and had a nice day in town, it was busy as it was early July.
Some great Fish and Chips places!

Sorry to hear that B2, stroke or heart attack while on the table seems to be one of the bigger risks. Not sure whether the use, of not, of the bypass machine is significant, I was on the machine. Apparently the moment when they restart the heart is a bit worrying!
But it sounds like he is doing well despite that, so the prognosis is presumably good. His recovery will just take a bit longer.
Please give him my best wishes, and look after yourself too.

Yes. Patient to be in for 14 days before you can apply then you purchase for a month. Didn't follow it up as don't qualify as yet and hopefully won't. But we'll see.
Glad you're enjoying your break sounds lovely.

OH did have triple bypass but they didn't put him on the bypass machine as sadly they didn't consider his own plumbing up to it, hence keeping his heart beating for itself for the op.
I'm so happy and glad to read that you appear to have recovered well and are back to 'normal' so quickly. Don't overdo it though.

B2, you've both been through quite a trauma but at least the procedures that took place have been explained and it sounds as though you are starting to see some progress. There's plenty of time now for a good recovery and I hope a corner has been turned in the right direction. Sounds like a good idea to get you lunch at the hospital, keep your strength up! Best wishes from me. x

Bakers2. So sorry to hear that your OH has had a stroke. However it sounds as though he is making good progress even though it seems slow. Hopefully his physical strength and stubbornness will stand him in good stead. You sound as though you have a good routine for yourself. Such a good idea to have your lunch at the hospital. You need to keep your strength up. You will be glad to have the company of your son and dog over the weekend. Take care of yourself. Best wishes to you both x
ABM I agree with others that you should be careful about giving your details. Perhaps have a word when you next visit the surgery to make sure it is genuine. However it does annoy me when companies etc ring or contact you and then ask you to confirm all your details - after all they contacted me not the other way round
JVB, pleased to hear that you got a good result about your car in the end. Don't wear yourself out though.
OP you sound as though you had a wonderful time with the grandchildren. I think we all had a huge amount of energy at that age! Enjoy your few days away.
We are having a busy time with the family but we have a morning off today as the grandchildren have had a 'sleepover' (how much sleeping was done I wonder
) at our daughter's with their cousins. It will be all systems go again later this morning.

Oh b*99er. Son and I treated ourselves to a slow start to the day. He pulled back his curtains, piece of tile come off the house roof, missed the snow guard, and has made a hole in a polycarbon roof piece on the conservatory. I really think the devil is taking a great interest in me at the moment 😤
Son taking care of temporary cover, thank goodness he takes after his dad, who's a bit like KjNelln 😂😂
Edit son has pre wedding photos this weekend, he's gonna look tired regardless!

Oh Bakers2 - it never rains but it pours. Hopefully your luck will change very soon and good fortune will smile on you. Very best wishes.

You both seem to be going through the mill at the moment. I wasn't aware that they could do a bypass operation without using the bypass machine! Don't know how old your OH is but Margaret was 68 when she had hers. The Stroke is an added complication but he is able to get out of bed which must be encouraging and an indication that he is en route to a good recovery albeit a bit slower than maybe first thought? Chin up.

OH just 67 and a little bit 😉. Sadly heart problems run in his mother's family and his dad died of heart attack in his 70's, not really sure of family history that side as his mother died young, not heart and he lost touch with his only blood sister. I haven't been able to trace her. But no evidence of heart on death certs we have.
Just awaiting the magic hour to see if we can go in so relatives room it is. Getting to know visitors faces - not sure if that's good or bad 😂. One lady on day 15 in ITU so day 8 not so bad 😉

Oh most definitely from my surgery WN, I might have sore, splinter impregnated finger tips but I've not lost ALL my marbles yet
Tks to MillieH & others, worrying about me giving out details -- It was only Birth Date & Mobile number requested in the letter which was sent to inform me of dodgy thyroid blood test results. So they were informing ME of personal information, and asking for info which is widely known out there in the world
.
Now I've got a ( non) teehee-mail from bank to tell me of latest DD to be applied to card in early March
AAAAARRRGGGH, Lifes a bitch, and then they charge you ( me )

Well that WAS a pleasant surprise !! Obeyed the instructions & rang Surgery to book that 'routine appointment'
Phone answered on second ring so I asked for, & was given, the first available 'BOOKABLE' appointment on :--
2nd April at 08:30
Think I'll head back into hibernation for a week or four

Sounds similar to Margaret. Her sister and two brothers have had heart attacks or serious heart conditions and they are all younger than her!! An added complication is that Margaret has diabetes which I think persuaded the doctors that a heart bypass would be a good prevention rather than an immediate need. She was fortunate that she was only in hospital for six days. It wasn't all plain sailing when she got home as she had some problems with the wound. That maybe is where a longer stay in hospital might be an advantage in that they can keep an eye on things like that? There seems to be a body of evidence that men recover more quickly than women from the physical strains of the operation.

Managed to get out into the garden today for a bit of tidy up, bonus as it will mean less to do when we get back from Lanzarote.
WN, my sister and BIL lived in Singapore '69 to 71, they loved it but never went back until 2017, then again ,in 2018. Hope you get the opportunity to re-visit it, we would go again as there is so much to do, I think Jan/Feb is a great time of year to visit.
Bakers, glad that OH has managed to get out of bed, all be it just for awhile. Keeping fingers crossed he carries on making progress.
MillieH, yes of next Thursday to Lanzarote, we seem to go at the same time as you go to Tenerife
hope the weather is as good as last year

We had a lovely walk round Ferry Meadows this afternoon. OH and son saw the kingfisher quite close up but I was ahead with the grandchildren so missed it unfortunately. We saw a heron though and heard the glorious sound of the song tbrush but couldnt spot him. This photo was taken in one of the bird hides.

We met up with friends for a lunch out in a little village pub west of Sturminster Newton in Dorset, so a nice drive out. We passed the deer park at Stock Gaylard and the fallow deer where well camouflaged in their pale winter colours, I could just about see them in the long grass, lots of antlers showing in the sun.

Fingers still crossed Bakers.
We also had a lovely lunch today Brue, meeting up with my cousin and her husband. Chewed the cud over leisurely few hours. The Game Casserole was exceptional.
Nearly finished the packing, even remembered my walking trousers, unlike our trip earlier this month.

There's free parking up on the West Cliff from 31st Oct to 1st March, and if you come in from the north (Sandend) side there's a length of parking spaces free for 2hrs all year round. It is 1/2 term down here so the town was busy.
We got out today without mishap, perhaps they've widened the gateway, as it doesn't appear that the wall has been moved.
