Thanks David. We have been here since Saturday and are enjoying it so far its a lovely island. It had been 6 years since we were last here my sister and family are here with their caravan too so its nice to be with them too. Hopeyou are enjoying your break too and like us are making good use of the Cadac

Unfortunately, Francis, aircon is not fitted as standard in caravans but if you order it when you first order the caravan, it will be fitted and ready for use when you get delivery.
The climate is going to keep getting hotter and hotter every year because of the greenhouse effect of carbon emissions. I heard on the radio how sharks are entering British waters because the sea around our coast is getting warmer. So the heat will get worse and like Kj said, caravans absorb the heat and can become very uncomfortable without aircon. Houses perhaps not so much.
With the increasing ferocity of the sun, it is necessary to be aware of sun related illnesses such as heat stroke and skin cancer. Too much exposure to the sun can affect your eyes too, developing cataracts. If you switch on the aircon and stay inside the caravan, these sun related conditions will be avoided.

Although as you rightly state M too much exposure is bad. Too little is also not good for you.

My last comment on Air con.
Malcolm we use our caravans for the purpose they were intended for, to holidays, so therefore we do not need or want an Aircon as open windows and cool shade is suffice for us. We do not want the extra weight to drag around which is not good for fuel economy of the tow vehicle.
As for it's health benefits, there isn't one If your posting are to go by it makes you so lethargic that you need to sleep all day to enable you to work a 5 or 6 hour shift, that might suit you, but not for me.

I get plenty of direct sunlight when I'm delivering pizzas! I have no choice but to get out of the car and walk in the sun to the customers door to do the delivery! However, I long to get back into the airconditioned car after completing the delivery, to cool off!
I had a cousin who died of skin cancer because of not wearing a shirt in the summer and sunbathing. He was only 38 and left behind a wife and two children.

Another blue sky day here, already hot outside. We must be stuck in some kind of little weather pocket here where I live, it's been an exceptional few weeks in terms of sunshine hours and heat. We had clouds yesterday for a short while, but no sign of any rain. I was still outside in garden at a very late hour last night. Lots of bats about, suppose heat is good for insects. Plenty of different butterflies around as well, we seem to have a resident Brimstone!

Overcast and warm here, breakfast on the patio. Lovely warm evenings outside like ttda until late late watching the bats too. Isn't it wonderful??
Then off to bed cool rooms 8 hours uninterrupted sleep 😃. Ready for today's new experiences. I believe it will involve food shopping I can delay no longer 😲. If the heat doesn't get too great may call in at a car showroom or 2 😟. Not my idea of fun but OH has done lots of research now need to look at the physical. I upset the Volvo dealer cos I disliked the XC40 for various reasons - she was most upset.

So sorry folks. I had no intention of starting up the whole AC debate again. My post (some pages back now) was just to say what a lovely day I had on Tuesday. I also had another lovely day yesterday as we met up with friends for a day out on the Great Central Railway. We took a picnic and tootled up and down on the train eating our lunch and having a lovely chat. We got off at all the various lovely old stations, had a look at the old steam engines, had a cup of tea and then got back on again. It really is a lovely Heritage Railway. Not such a good day today - dentist. Oops spoke too soon, as I was just about to post this the dentist receptionist rang to cancel as dentist not well.

Hope you're not in pain thus requiring the dentist? Why do today what you can put off for tomorrow or weeks in the case of non urgent dental appointments 😉
That said it's OH pension pay day - the big one 😂😉 so off to check out what's left over and how much I can skim off 😂😂😂

You didn't start anything Millie, but you got an inappropriate reply that was used to started things off again.
I was at the dentist this week, it has taken a few days for a new crown to settle down, felt like a battle to fit and refit it.
Glad you enjoyed your railway trip.
Our local forecast is devoid of rain for another two weeks but no hosepipe ban yet.

We seem lucky up here, no signs of a ban. I can't remember such a prolonged dry period for a very long time though. It's strange seeing all the verges burnt brown, the one good decision our Council made a few years ago was to make a lot of verges and grass areas running down dual carrriageways into wildflower areas. They are usually "rivers of colour" changing as new varieties take a turn. Uniform brown this year. Our lawn is predominantly brown, but it will come back. Going to come as a huge shock, when it changes, we haven't put roof up on Jeep One since end of April

It is beginning to remind me of 1976, which I remember very clearly and I think we had a cold winter afterwards. Our water comes from chalk aquifers in Wilts, sometimes boosted by Exmoor reservoirs. I don't think either of these places have had rain so I can't imagine it will be too long before we might have to curb water use. We are watering things every evening but have let some things go.
OH has successfully grown aubergines this year, they needed the heat.

We drove past Rutland Water reservoir yesterday and it is full to the brim, nearly up to the road. In 1976 it dried up to such an extent that we could see the remains of the village that they flooded when making the reservoir. It was quite sad. We are told no hosepipe ban in this area but that depends how long it will be before we get any rain. They couldn't run the steam trains yesterday as they had had one or two fires with sparks setting fire to the banks so the fire brigade have said to use only the diesel engines. OH and friend's OH not impressed.
I hope your crown has settled down now brue. My appt was to fit a new tooth to take the place of one I lost some months ago. I am not sure how that is going to go
. Rearranged appt for next week. I hope you are coping OK with your son's move and all that entails. Is the hamster in residence yet? What with that and your builders you will be in need of another holiday when things settle down.0 -

Oo! "Spark from passing steam train" That was on my OH's bucket list before he finished.....it happened, a Heritage engine travelling up main line! He was so chuffed.......
Checked our grapevine last night, bunches are getting quite big. I need to thin out to get less quality bunches!
We are just writing job descriptions for our dream retirement jobs..........

Don't know if you would call it lucky, but we have had rain on two days this week, both lasted a few ours, and was a welcome relief. If no rain is forthcoming soon we will have to start bathing and showering together as advised in 76.
Don't worry Millie, if it wasn't your mention of A/C it would have been something else.

Sorry that your dentist is unwell, Milliehull. Was it too much heat and not enough aircon that caused the illness?

I was a skinny youngster in 1976. Not sure our shower would take us both nowadays. We could get in, but it would be a fight picking up the soap!
My OH calls me his little investment...........................'Cos there seems to be a little bit more of me each year!
(He takes ibuprofen for the bruises!)
