As this was the first takeaway pizza in 48 years, it may be awhile before  we order another (nothing wrong with the product, it’s just something we did for a change as a treat for the boys). And delivery option is determined by postcode, and I assume housing density. We’re very rural. No food outlets deliver out here.

Yep, Hartendale Farm is one, at Flamborough. Others are Branwood, which is in Bempton, close to RSPB centre, and local railway. Then south of Brid is Rectory Farm, great set up there, CL site but also a separate 10 van site with separate loos and showers. This is really lovely, close to Burton Agnes and Fraisthorpe Beach. If we go to this area, we never go into Bridlington itself, to be honest, it's awful. The outskirts, as mentioned and including Sewerby are much nice.

We do that too, not that we eat pizza that often.

Someimes we get invited to DD's place for pizza, she makes her own bases from scratch, they are very good, and has a pizza stone to bake them on.

Ended up walking to Flambrough Head from the site, about 5.5 miles all on tracks. Rather up and down at times but great views. Decided against walking back due to the temperature, and used the open top bus that runs on a summer weekend.

Photos are of Danes Dyke beach with Brid behind. Seals on the rocks below Flamborough lighthouse (grey and white blobs) and the chalk cliffs around the headland.

Agree about Bridlington itself, although we will be revisiting as there was a rather good fishmonger and we still have to get the rock for our sons. The oldest will be 40 this year but still expects some rock.😂

Arrived to Woodville CL near Shrewsbury to a warm welcome from the owners - only 3 units on site at the moment so it's very quiet and looks like a good choice. No BBC coverage yet so no idea how the tennis is going (and maybe no Poldark tonight!) but have got ITV so can watch a bit of footie - Mrs M is not amused, but, hey, that's life! wink

Its still very warm here today so we had a lazy morning and then headed in to Yarmouth for a walk around. My sister and her family have arrived today they are here for 12 nights with us and have luckily managed to get a pitch right across from us which is handy. I am just sitting in the van just now watching the world cup final. Tonights dinner is pizza on the Cadac (Pizza seems popular this weekend)  willl open a cold beer for when cooking

My grandfather was born in the coastguard cottages at Flamborough. Not sure if that qualifies me as an honorary Yorkshireman.

We spent the morning Dolphin watching in New Quay harbour,  No need for a boat trip they were performing in the harbour just wonderful to watch. ☺

This afternoon we went to NT Llanerchaeron for a walk round the woods and a long the river,  very peasant as it was very warm.

Enjoying reading about everyone's holidays,  so many fab places to visit ☺ we are hoping to get to Yorkshire in the Autumn.

Daughter and I were on coffee duty in the cathedral after the service this morning and thought it would be cool in there  - wrong!! At least it was cooler than  outside. I sat in the shade in the garden with my kindle while OH watched the match this afternoon.

Lovely photos Steve. We have never been to Bridlington.

We tend to make our own pizzas on the odd occasion when we have one. I am not a fan but OH is. Lovely idea to have pizzas with your grandsons goldie. It sounds like a  good evening.

Brue, you sound as though you are having an 'interesting' time with your son's move. We have been there and done that. We joked at one time that we needed a spreadsheet for bookings for storage in our garage and spare bedrooms!! Are they moving far from you?  I still remember the feeling when our youngest son and family told us they were moving to N. Ireland but although we miss them terribly it is a way of life we have got used to. I hope your building work us going OK.

There are some interesting properties to visit in East Yorks. The gardens at Burton Agnes are fabulous. Burton Constable House is worth a visit as well.

Great day today warmer but more breeze.

Cycled into Seahouses after lunch to get the boat out to the Farne islands. Boat was full, ages ranged from a baby a few months old to 80+ saw lots of birds,  Terns, Herring gulls, Fulmars, Cormorants, Kittiwakes, Guillemonts but the best of all the lovely Puffins,  hundreds of them everywhere in the sea in the air and on shore. Great day to see them all but oh boy the smell. The trip back was fun, bit of rough sea in one bit so our side of the boat got a bit wet laughing thankfully we had waterproofs with us so no problem but some got a bit wetter.

Will have to come back here again still so much to. Didn't know about the museum in Banburgh brue so yet another thing. Lovely area would recommend it, specially if the weather is as good as we have had. Just a week away but I  feel so relaxed.

Hope Flyte has recovered, do you know the cause of the cut Nelliethehooker?

Flyte now seems to be fine, thanks B2 and millie. I think that he must have cut it on a bit of broken shell when he was running on the beach the other day.

M, you'll have to dig out the appropriate Phil Rickman books and visit some on the places that he writes about, Hergest Ridge for example. Have a good trip.

Glad that you had a good time at Sandringham, B2. We liked the C&CC site, as it's not regimented compared to the CC's site.

JVB66, hope you don't mind but I remember you posting about a new towcar you got, a manual one but not happy with it and changed it for an automatic. What I can't remember is the make and model, would you mind posting what it was please.

Apologies for going off thread but I as JV has just posted thought it might be the best place to catch him.smile

Nice places round there, H&T, aren't they. Have you seen the seals yet?

It also looks as if you're having a great time on the Northumbrian coast, TG.

Today is our last one at home before we set off again, so it was a big clean round in the house...bedding washed, floors scrubbed, dog bathed, patio area swept clean, a last watering of the odd plants that have survived the "great draught", and clothes sorted for the trip and put into the van. All ready for the off now.

Thanks milliehull. This site, as well as one of the CL's mentioned are great for walking on this section of coast. Plus in the week the buses are every hour.

TDA will probably visit Burton Agnes tomorrow. It's in that 2 for 1 garden scheme.😀

Our customers here seem to prefer home delivery. They don't want to have to do any cooking themselves in this hot weather, which is fortunate for me, otherwise I would be out of a job!

So from what you say, Goldie, it looks like I'm better off staying in this area with its high density of population and sufficient affluency, for work like this to be available!

However, the difficulty for the company, is being able to recruit and retain drivers. With the high cost of housing in this area, people cannot manage on minimum wage incomes. However, they can retain me and have done so for over a year now, the reason being that I don't have the kind of housing costs that other people have. The caravan has saved me from that!

New caravans are affordable, luxurious, fully furnished, mobile homes for those who are willing to think outside the box!

Having to do it yourself, sweating over a hot cooker in very hot weather conditions is not ideal, Kj. That is why our customers prefer, professionally cooked food, accompanied by excellent quality service, from smart, uniformed, friendly staff, delivering it to their home. Then all they have to do, is sit down, eat and enjoy it!

I got my rota for this week last night. Also they asked me if I could stay on to be closing driver. I was due to finish at 9 p.m. but worked until 11.30 p.m. The duty manager said to me "You're a star!" So I worked an extra two and a half hours!

Work is not a dirty word to me. It's a lovely word. It gets you out and about meeting people and  winning accolades, as well as getting you an income which you would not otherwise have. Far better, in my opinion, than being fully retired!
