B2........Old mine workings are very common in many areas in and around Glasgow, and not really of concern unless they are really close to the house. The owners or the Coal Authority will be responsible should there be a problem, and she has checked out the property insurance situation.
Apparently the present owners did not know about the mine entrance, so were rather alarmed when informed!
DD's solicitor has asked for a review of the valuation, but most likely there will be no or little change, certainly the lender is not concerned.
Could be that , like you, a future purchaser might be put off by this, so her solicitor has warned that they should consider that there might be resale problems, but anyone purchasing in the area would probably be aware that there are a lot of old mines in the area, so they plan to go ahead anyway.
This is probably a unique chance to secure a large, and very nice property in the area they want to be in, and that is an important consideration for them. This will be their "for ever" home.
As it happens, their offer was not the highest, by several thousands, but they could offer an early move in date so "won". Just to show it is a small world, they discovered that the highest bidders were our SIL's parents next door neighbours. They knew there were mines in the area and were not put off from bidding.
The revised valuation should be available on Tuesday, but unless there is a huge drop they will continue with their current offer as a lower purchase price would mean a fresh mortgage application. It seems all very complicated these days!

That's good news KjellNN. It is a small world isn't it? On our last site our neighbours were from Essex about a 20 minute drive from us and on this site the same - 20 minutes in there direction 😲. Good job were behaving ourselves 😉

Had a great day out in Wisbech. Last to leave peckover house, not unusual for us 😂.
Thanks for parking advice milliehull, r easy too late but we did use it after our 3 hours in Asda carpark ran out. Suggested by site staff. Found the one you suggested, Chapel Road, adjacent to the rugby and cricket fields. No height barrier lots of space and no charge 😃. Short walk to Peckover House and 2 acre garden, what a surprise!
Milliehull I couldn't fault Wisbech, c ertainly what we saw of it. Fantastic flower displays all planted and maintained by volunteers we learnt. Had a quick visit into 12th century St Peter and St Paul church, deserves much more, fabulous gardens created in 1953 from the burial grounds. Fenland Museum so much in such a small space but all beautifully presented. I expected to be refreshed on the creation of The Fens but their was little of that but enough and so much local history. Again deserved a longer visit but it was whilst we were on the 3 hours limit. Next The Crescent and market square fabulous.
Moved the motorhome and snatched a late lunch before doing the house. Did manage cuppa and cake in the tearoom 😉.
Now back on site, it's been really sticky, will have to do another light meal for dinner very soon.
Hoping to add some photos but forgot to resize before I started 😲
Hanging baskets all along the Georgian Crescent and other places.
The Bridge and marina
Part of the garden at St Peter and St Paul
The roses, just on the turn in Peckover Garden

Yesterday we travelled up to Brecon, arrived at lunchtime at site.lovely little site reminded me of the much missed Much Wenlock site.
.
Today we had a relaxed morning, cooked brekki, nice walk with the dog before heading off to New Quay arriving about 1o'clock at a really nice CL. Haven't been far this afternoon, walked to the village pub, caught the end of the football and a bit of the tennis. Weather has been wonderful so cooked lamb kebabs on the cadac and opened the wine ,while watching the Red Kites and a buzzard over the site.
Glad you enjoyed your trip to Wisbech Bakers we have to go there in a few week's, its a trip to a MG parts place OH has to return some parts he doesn't need for Daffy.

We booked that at the same time as booking Waverley Park, they only deal with Red Funnel. The last time we went , 5 years ago, it was only £89 booked via the Club. Perhaps having a car and caravan cost more? I think Red Funnel have prices that vary with the time of day so lower at quieter times. Given that most campsites on the IOW can be reached within the hour a later crossing might be cheaper?

So sorry Husky, I know what you are going through as we have been through it with my Dad when my Mum died but you can only do your best. It would be far worse for your Mum if she didn't have you! As for the sale of the business, I find that sometimes, when things seem to go wrong, the situation often turns out better in the long term. Keep your chin up.....

Lovely day today, cycled the short distance to Seahouses. While there sorted a boat trip out to the Farne islands and Longstone Lighthouse (of Grace Darling fame) for tomorrow. Tide is better tomorrow to do both they say so suits us fine.
This afternoon we cycled into the village of Beadnell and down to the harbour and beach, wow really pretty. Lots of families having fun, canoeing, paddle boarding, playing in the sea and one group having fun jumping in from the harbour walls. Sea very clean but a bit chilly for my liking.
Really enjoying it here so will come back again with a better idea of what and where we can go.
MillieH, the site is lively but the children are having fun and they are not being a nuisance. It was very quiet over lunchtime so they must have all been at the beach. There is a large group of Dad's with son's who seem to be having a great time.

Finally managed to get away this summer, for a week or so before it gets too busy. After delays for my eye (cataract surgery), van problems, then car issues, we thought this superb weather would end before we managed it. Booked Bridlington as it is fairly local and one planned last year, but was cancelled when being refurbished. Found, what we considered a nice pitch on the first loop we came to. Glad we did, as there were few pitches left on the old part of the site and when we looked round later, the new bit feels very open and exposed. Although I am sure it will look better in a few years, when the tiny saplings they have planted mature.
Beautiful day yesterday, with a very pleasant breeze. Managed to find the path that gives access to the coastal route and walked along the cliffs and foreshore into Bridlington. There were two patrolled bits of beach with RNLI lifeguards, but only a few hardy souls braving the North Sea for them to look after. The tide was well out though, perhaps more would give it a go as it got closer in. We had a good look around before getting the bus back to the site, stop right outside.
Again lovely blue sky today, might get the bus the other way today, to North Landing and walk the coastal path back. Depends on the frequency, or not of the buses on a Sunday, which I have not yet checked.

Southport site is the same. New part a barren wilderness devoid of hedging and tree planting even on the periphery. Abysmal!

I was late getting away from work last night as orders were coming in just before closing time but I was given a free meat feast pizza to take home as a reward for doing extra time! So when I got home, I had my pizza for dinner accompanied by a bottle of Shiraz Australian red wine. I didn't stay up long because after doing extra time, making my shift well over 7 hours, I was rather tired!
It's another lovely sunny morning here in Worthing and I feel rested after a nice long sleep last night and enjoying the feeling of today being an easier 18:00 to 21:00 shift, so only 3 hours to work today but that could change!
I should get my rota for next week this evening. They have managed to recruit some new drivers so it will be interesting to see how this might affect my rota for next week.
That's what I like about this job. There's never a dull moment. Your hours and days of work keep changing all the time and the pay at the end of the four week period changes too! Also the drop money and tips are different each day! However, I like the financial security of knowing that I can never run out of money. There's always more money in drop and tips coming the next day!
I remember the days when I had a 9 to 5 job in the civil service. I got exactly the same pay at the end of each month and exactly the same hours and days to work. So it used to get a bit boring! Also there was no daily cash pay. So if you ran out of money, it was a long time to wait until next pay day!

So glad you enjoyed Wisbech Bakers2. The town centre got very run down and there were one or two derelict and boarded up buildings but they are now making a great effort with it. It is a lovely town. They do a Rose Festival each year at the beginning of July which is well worth a visit. We absolutely love Peckover Garden and sometimes nip across on a Sunday afternoon for a wander and a cup of tea.
So sorry your Mum is feeling down Husky. It must be so very difficult for her. I am sure she is so grateful for your support.
You sound as though you are having a great time Tammygirl. It is lovely up there. OH's father used to live in Co. Durham and we often used to visit round there when staying with him. I hope you enjoy your visit to the Farne Islands. Watch out for the ArticTerns!!
Wales sounds great Helen. All very relaxing. I hope the good weather holds for you this week.
Enjoy Bridlington Steve. Glad you got away at last.
Nice to hear from you Brian and Jo. The Goodwood Festival fo Speeds exciting

Best of luck, Husky, with whatever your plans are. I hope it all works out for you in the end!

I hope Harry is coping all right with all that walking, Chris, in this hot weather. After all, he does have a lot of thick fur on him. I have no fur apart from a few hairs on my chest and I can't walk too far in this heat either, so I can well understand his reluctance!

Does it take long to walk into Brid Steve, we might get up that way in the future? Good that you have managed to have a break.
TG hope you enjoy the Farne trip, such a lovely area to explore. Have you seen the Grace Darling museum at Bamburgh, it's worth a look, so is Bamburgh, you might have been there already?
I've enjoyed reading about your trip B2, we did a day at Sandringham when we stayed at Houghton Mill, still got some plants in the garden that I bought at their plant sale area. I loved seeing the house but we didn't have enough time to really see the grounds, just the buildings and gardens around the house.
We heard last night that my SIL's husband has to have a triple by-pass, thank goodness he went in to hospital when he did, no pain from the later discovered heart attack, just a slow heartbeat. Apologies about mentioning illness, at least we know now what is happening and hope he will get through it all ok. Thanks again for your good wishes. Family ups and downs! Do hope Husky has a better day, a break will be good for you, hope it goes well and you can unwind.
Nice to hear about all your hols and what you are up to!
So hot here, I have got up early, got some jobs done. Need to get to the garden centre to get some feed for our greenhouse and plants. Good to come back to some ripe tomatoes.

Last night we did something different. Out son and daughter-in-law were away at a party so our two grandsons (13 and 14) stayed with us.
We had a takeaway pizzas! We're too far out of town for deliveries so had to drive down for them. We ate out on the patio then went inside to watch "Star Trek:Into the Darkness"
A successful night all round.
I enjoyed the pizza more than I thought I would (never had a takeaway one before) and probably annoyed people by pointing out references in the film to the original Star Trek series.
P.S. It was Dominoes.

We had pizza with our son and grandson too last night, they were bringing more stuff over from the impending house move...so snap, except they were Co-op "truly delicious" pizzas (they are good)....then OH watched Star Trek too.
When we were away on the rally we were opposite a Dominoes advert on the rugby field....I took a photo.

Domino's in Lancing have tables and chairs so you can eat there. That way you can eat it piping hot without it getting cold on the way home.
For home delivery, Pizza Hut are best because of the heated Pouches.

Thanks brue. Probably about an hour, if you stuck to the route along the top of the cliff. Much of which is narrow tarmac, used by the land train to Sewerby Hall. However, we took the steps onto the foreshore and that took a little longer. There is a non advertised permissive route through the golf course, which means it can all be done off road. As an alternative you could get the land train back, rather than the bus and that would shorten the walk significantly. If we walk in again we will probably take that option.

this caught my eye, how to keep cool

I can give you details of two nice CLs brue close to Bridlington, one close to local railway that goes up east coast between hull and Scarborough. Quiet, good dog walking.

Thanks TDA, I've seen people heading off for various CLs in the area but the details are all lost to me now, so I will ask nearer the time, our plans after the summer keep changing thanks to family changing what they are doing. Can't keep up with them!

Home delivery should be possible, if you are only 5 miles away. Some of the customers I do delivery to in Shoreham are 5 miles away.

Brue, last year we stayed at Hartendale Farm cl, near the coastal path on the Bridlington side of Flamborough. If you are fit enough it's about 2 miles along the coast path to Brid, passing by Sewerby Hall, about 1 mile away, where you could catch the "little train" that runs between there and Brid. to cut the walking down. See my review for details of CL.
Can't say Brid was my type of place but we enjoyed the coast path, especially the seabirds nesting on Flamborough Head.
