Had a very nice phone text message today from HMRC telling me I had a refund of £324 if I logged in to an address ending in ******.login1-uk.com.

Oh well, nice try. Someone out there cares about me money-mouthundecided

Been wondering how you are. Glad you're feeling an improvement and sorry you're not fully recovered. But i know a bit about it myself, i have to pace myself and am currently lying in the sun hahaha on the conservatory sofa catching up on here after a walk to a couple of shops for supplies and a few indoor jobs 😢.

Good news on your OH too, his physio will be delighted with him - they know when you've done the exercises 😉.

I like this thread for its mundaneness just gentle chat generally making you feel you're not alone in the routine tasks etc of daily living. I miss the tearoom at work  😂 about the only part 😉

It is a bit like the canteen at work (when I worked), just idle chatter about nothing really, but it got people talking and that's what makes the world go round. smile

Presently enjoying a really nice glass of ale - 'The REV James Original'. What a lovely beer.

Just over 3 weeks ago I though that I would treat a friend who is now housebound to half a dozen specialty ales. As they were on offer for 4 I bought 8 intending to have a couple myself. I opened one of these particular ales and thought it too good not to Include in Bob's treat. I also felt it churlish to hand over 6 bottles when I had carriers each holding 4 bottles. So I went back to the shops and bought 4 bottles of this in order to ensure that Bob had one to sample.

The following Saturday it was arranged that 4 of us would go round to Bob's home and I would collect a takeaway for all. So I took the 8 beers plus a bottle each of The REV James for Bob and I whilst we all watched a DVD of 'Fried Green Tomatoes' followed by a natter and lots of laughs. That left me with a bottle on the side in the sitting room which has been calling out to me for around 3 weeks. Bliss laughing

It was a Elddis Topaz 3/4 berth, second hand to us but worth every penny we had at the time. We had a compartment to that doubled as a washroom (fold up sink) and a Porta Potty, foot pump for water in kitchen and yes gas light in the front end/lounge.

We took it over to Germany when we were posted there in August that year and OH fitted a 12v battery and lights, then a 240v socket like vans have nowadays. In time we bought a portable chest fridge and flushing toilet. We had lots of fun in that van traveling to Denmark, Austria, Italy and all over Germany over the years until the vinyl roof split one summer while in Italy.

Bakers2, glad to hear you are recovering too, sun what sun I haven't seen it for days we got up to snow again this morning and yesterday. Mind you at least I don't feel guilty for feeling rough with the weather this rotten, if the sun was shining I would want to be out on my bike or in the garden, so at least OH can do his recovery in peace laughing his first physio is tomorrow so here's hoping he is doing as well as we think he is doing.

We’re still renovating the pantry. Well, not exactly renovating, but sweeping the walls, filling numerous large holes and painting. As it’s a very large room, filled with old pine furniture, a central granite table (8 x 4 feet), and other ancient bits, it’s a bit awkward. We’re doing a section at a time, and I move all the stuff out into the kitch till it’s done.

Tonight we plan to move the butter churn (see photo) to paint behind it.

Part of the problem is we never throw anything away. But stuff does come in useful. E.G. the white disposable suit my husband is wearing in the photo. Saved from a surplus we had after Foot and Mouth in 2001.

We have a DIY Narnia situation going on, a door has appeared behind a wardrobe (our grandson was impressed and asked why the door didn't go through the wardrobe itself...wink) But OH is busy turning a separate loo into an en suite shower room, sadly no old finds, just a lot of mess and noise. Hope yours is progressing.

edit...we posted at the same time and I used your previous post. smile

Tammygirl our sun didn't last long frown but it was lovely through the glass for half an hour. Started out a lovely spring day, white fluffy clouds, but now it's grey and a really chilly wind. Snow again 😲😲.

Goldie, plenty of work to keep you out of mischief - just in case you had a few spare moments 😂😂. Yes there is much to be said for not throwing things away and good to see something positive from foot and mouth. No doubt the next lot, if there needs to be a next lot yell, will be biodegradable and be disintegrating whilst stored 😂

Started the defence of our hard won bowls 4 man title this afternoon. 0-15 down after 5 ends and would have been 0-21 down if our skip hadn't "killed" an end. Fought back to 20-20 on last end, so an extra end and won it on the very last bowl! smile

Final on Sunday to look forward to now!

Sorry - it's slate not granite. and doesn't move. It's gradually been raised up on blocks as farmers' wives got taller. No need for that for me - I'm on the short side and never called a farmer's wife!

B2 hope you get your car back soon and it’s not too expensive.  When I watch Ed China do similar jobs on telly it only takes about 10 minutes 😃

I now know how the man in the iron mask felt after my scan this morning. 👺

Left storage about 1.30pm and arrived at CL just gone 4.  All set up went for a walk now prepping supper🍲 not a pizza in sight, Unfortunately no alcohol for me.

    Whatever your doing enjoy.

Have heard nothing from the garage guys. I do hope that they can get on with very soon.

Nice to get away after that experience OP.

Heard from daughter they had arrived safely on their hols...made the mistake of looking at the flight tracker last night, 35000 ft at whatever flying over Bosnia and Albania, I stopped in the end, it got a bit unnerving.

Cat has just brought in a no longer breathing rodent, must go and sort it out. OH has found a pair of his pants blowing round the garden, wondered where they'd gone, very windy washing yesterday, at least they hadn't reached the neighbours! wink

first time we flew over to NZ I watched the flight details, fascinating 😲 outside temperature always get me! So little in thickness between you and it, as much as any other details. But I do remember saying to OH 'what sort of height do ground to air missiles reach?' as we headed over Iran, Iraq Afghanistan etc. Still glad once we're over those 'dodgy' countries 😉

Glad you scan is over and done with OP.  Both OH and our eldest son have had MRI scans.  It is not an experience I would want.surprised Enjoy your trip. You deserve it.

Our car was safely delivered back this afternoon after having the wheel bearing replaced. He brought the old one for OH to inspect.smile Cost slightly less than told.  I hope you hear good news about your car soon Bakers2.

    Good luck for Sunday moulesy.

Glad to hear that you and your OH are feeling slightly better Tammygirl.

OH returned from seeing GP Practice Nurse with replacement antibiotics plus prednisolone. She also noticed that he had a very sore finger from a burn he got when using our garden incinerator so dressed that as well.smile
