@DavidKlyne my OH wasn't allowed to drive after his stroke due to eye issues. Its been 7 years 🤔 and I can't remember the exact reason now. He was greatly upset by it, but he hasn't persued it. The visiting rehab physio chatted it through with him, it would involve more eye tests and a driving test with at least one if not two observers and it would rest with them and they could call it off at anytime during the test shouod they consider it necessary. There was cost, naturally, several DVLA hoops and delays to get through before doing the test. I don't think he wanted another knock to his confidence if he didn't succeed.

He still misses it, I do too, as I need to take him wherever he wants to go, he doesn't have the confidence to use the bus alone - and more often than not the times don't coincide!

He was always our driver, he enjoyed it and i loved being the passenger gwaping out the window 😉. It was a very steep learning curve to build up my confidence, not that I'd ever stopped driving completely.

    You have much to ponder...…

Enjoy your afternoon tea tomorrow @DSB and have a safe tow home on Thursday.

Hope the weather warm up for your trip to Aylsham @Oneputt If the site is decent I would be interested in which one it is. Grand result from the raffle. The replacement of the ABS sensor seems to be a recurring theme as we have had to have 2 replaced! Sorry to hear about the tooth extraction but it is better than suffering from toothache.

Fingers crossed that this hospital visit will be your last one @DEBSC Your granddaughter certainly goes through the mill, such a brave girl.

More good photos @Wherenext We are pleased to hear thst your MIL is doing OK. Safe trip tomorrow.

The tripping things seems to be contagious as OH took a nose dive today after stubbing her toe on a tree root. Thankfully she wasn't injured but exasibate the pain in her knee although she was determined to try and walk it off. It did cut short the length of our walks in the woods in Aboyne Estate she is now feeling rather stiff. Weather has been mixed with periods of sunshine and the odd shower, some of hail!

I took a walk from the site, after we returned and had a brew, through the village and Muirton Wood passing these impressive buildings.

The parish church of St Moluag (a 6C Scottish missionary also known as Lugaidh) built in 1869.

Alastrean House, formally the House of Cromar, built 1905 for Lord Aberdeen. Now a retirement home, run by the MacRobert Trust, although it was previously a R&R centre for RAF an Commonwealth aircrew.

@richardandros I thought you would have been seen right by Nicola at Sky Barn. Hope you manage to get there in July. Have you made any plans for the rest of the summer? @Takethedogalong will be at the edge of her seat this evening, with the game going into ET, with a win meaning they will meet Hull at Wembley!

@nelliethehooker - sorry to hear about Mrs nellie's fall. Hope she's OK and it's not hurting too much. Nothing to do with me - honest! As far as plans go - we're off to a small site near Spilsby in Lincolnshire in June - for my birthday. There's five fishing lakes there so I thought I'd try my hand at fishing again. Not done any since we sold the last boat about 15 years ago. July to Nicola's and then Thornthorpe near Malton for Ros's birthday in August. Nothing planned yet after that but I suspect we won't be going far.

@Takethedogalong - commiserations re last night's result. I was rather hoping it was going to be an all-Yorkshire final but that's not to be. If I'm honest, I don't really fancy our chances against Southampton - but, there again, we weren't favourites for the Millwall match. Our 'new' manager has certainly earned his corn this season, given that we only escaped relegation by goal difference at the end of the last season.

@DavidKlyne - I do hope you can get your licence back. The husband of Ros's closest friend had a stroke about the same time as you and he hasn't been able to drive since. He loved driving and it's really hit him hard which I can understand because I am certain I would be the same. Fingers crossed for you.

Awoke to wet windows 😱 and damp ground. Brightened up. Don't think it was much. Now a shower where you can dodge between the drops.
Spent yesterday afternoon at Peterborough Hospital, OHs cataract pre-op. Appointment 1545, got there in plenty of time to park. 1st carpark rammed and folk circling round, so came straight out, dropped OH at the front door and went to another car park. Whilst far from empty I was spoilt for choice..... Used their restaurant for late lunch. Was almost 45 minutes late being called in. Very few there, that said very thorough check through and in there 45 minutes. Hit leaving off time for loads of folk, so 20 minutes to get off site. Buses drop you at the door but a long walk to catch one to come home, tried that before! Broomfield was brilliant on and off right at the door.Otherwise all good and set for next Wednesday 0800 🤔🤣. OH doesnt know there's 2 8 o'clock in everyday!

Wishing everyone a good day, even after a disappointing evening before @Takethedogalong

We now have a black sky again, we need the rain so could it please get on with it???? I've to walk the dog, but i dont mind, I just need to know so i can dress accordingly....... wow tgat scuttled off whilst i typed, bright again.

Just catching up, I wasn’t very well yesterday, so spent the day safely hibernating. Very disappointed re the match result, it would have been a good all Yorkshire final.
Having been at the first leg game, we were astonished at the Southampton team tactics, particularly those of their goalkeeper, who was eventually booked. By the sound of some of the match reports of last night, they were at it again. I just hope Hull really beat them now, they don’t deserve to go up under such a cloud. A financial penalty, if that is all they get, would be laughable, as the Wembley game is worth two hundred and twenty million pounds to the winners, it’s the richest game in World football. It just sends a signal that it’s all right to cheat to get what you want. Boro played their hearts out on Saturday, should have scored half a dozen from dead ball situations. Other Championship Club’s have commented on how Southampton seemed to know what was happening. Southampton are a good team, but I think other Club’s will be very wary of them. It’s not a player, spectator issue, no blame there, it’s a management, backroom issue.

Enjoying all photos and reading news from others. We have postponed our Cornish trip for the moment, it’s too cold and wet. We might take Gertie away instead for a short break, not too far away. Feeling a bit fragile this morning, but onwards and upwards🙂

Hope you're soon feeling better @Takethedogalong. I'm sure City will be doing their best on the 23rd! At least they do have 'previous' for winning the playoff final, despite being the underdog. If they are successful, I just hope that Ilicali sticks to his word and is prepared to fund them to the necessary level. Sadly, money is the only thing that seems to matter in the Premier League.

Some kind of 24 hour bug I think, it was like seasickness and fever🤷‍♀️ I might have got disorientated seeing the sea as we come home via Sewerby Hall🤭 I was safer laid in bed until it wore off and the world had stopped spinning round. We followed Hull’s Premiership glory last time, even went to a game. Sorry to hear about your fall, and postponed trip. It’s not easy getting older, we climbed up into the top terraces at the Riverside, helped a game older chap who had left his scooter at the bottom of the stairs. Tenacious though, he made it with a bit of a push from behind. Never seen the ground as full.
Jeep serviced yesterday (big daily use one) Slight problem with one of front brakes. Turns out it has less than ordinary brakes on it, so we need to get a part from the USA again. We knew it was a special build import when we bought it, but didn’t know it had some kind of extra stopping power applied. Garage have made it safe to use, and as soon as part arrives, they will fit it for us. But it will no doubt get tied up in the US export system, and then the import system here. Other Jeep is a gnats whisker off its MOT now🤞

It was 2c here last night. So cold.

Started the tidy up of the M/Home in preparation for a Rally next week [assuming that the reupholsterer has been able to finish off the habitation area cushions …], but then the heavens opened and closed with monotonous regularity, so play abandoned for today. Discovered all sorts of delights that Justin Case had packed, so most of these items carried to the 'Useful Junk' shelf in the garage, never to see the light of day again 😁. Until we reach the Rally Field …

We had the Hab Area USB A sockets changed to dual USB A & C sockets in early March, and have a surplus of USB A cables kicking around on the overhead cab shelf, but these will be replaced by Belkin braided C to C cables which are more robust in daily use. The new apertures for the new sockets were cut slightly oversize, so I will need to cut 2 smaller apertures from 4mm ply and glue the 'new holes' inside the battery box [formerly the side sofa storage] that houses the2 MPPT Solar Controllers B2B Charger, Inverter, Ablemail AMT12-2 Trickle Charger and Lithium Leisure Battery]. Not a job to save my failing hip replacements, but less bother to do it now whilst the seat cushions are at the Upholsterers!

We had some really heavy rain this afternoon, but the morning was sunny, so one conifer felled, and one to go, maybe tomorrow. The first one was the smallest so not tall enough to hit anything, but the second one will require the neighbours to move their vehicles to a safer spot, just in case things do not go to plan!

DD has been busy planning the balustrade for the new terrace built last autumn now that she has finally found a suitable system. She has made a very impressive 3-D computer model of the whole thing and is set to order it all up very soon. It is coming from the place we visited just the other side of town, so will be delivered very quickly, then it is up to DD and myself to start installing it. There will be a few bits to add afterwards to finish the corners, once we see how it all works out.

The old balustrade off the original terrace will be finding a new home at her sister-in-law’s house, she has just had a raised deck built.

That looks like a fine afternoon tea @DSB a lovely way of celebrating your birthday. Safe journey home tomorrow.

All may not be lost yet @Takethedogalong but getting a ticket and accommodation may prove hard if Southampton are kicked out, which may get be the case. Hope you are feeling much better after your "seasickness", that the jeep passes it's MOT and you are able to get away in the M/H soon.

Hope all goes well with your OH's cataract operation next week @Bakers2 and also you get a decent amount of rain through the night, and not while you are out with the dog!😄

@richardandros OH is feeling rather achy all over but did manage a short, for us, walk this morning along the Deeside trail. How about you, not too sore now I hope? Fingers crossed that you are able to get away as planned.

We have had sunshine and intermittent showers, including a couple with hail in them, through the day but it has not been quite as cold. As well as our walk this morning I had a longer one this afternoon from the site after getting the car and van ready for our next move.

I presume as you said "our walk" @nelliethehooker that Mrs.N's knee isn't too bad after her tumble. Hope my assumption is right. Give her our best wishes.

Same goes to @Takethedogalong and her nausea. Hope things have improved.

Moving day today. We're actually on a club site (sold one of the children before we came away) at Ferry Meadows. Had a lovely afternoon in @milliehull and her OH's company sharing stories and drinking tea. Time passed too quickly. We have tomorrow free then meeting some friends for the last 2 days.

Weather was squally showers and a brisk wind today. Hoping for something drier tomorrow as we'll do a walk from site.

Looks like the new balustrade may have to wait……DD placed her order only to be told the posts were out of stock, which was not shown on the website. New stock is not expected until mid July, which is just when we had planned to be away. She is very disappointed.

Another day of sunshine and heavy showers but not quite as much rain as yesterday. It is still cold though. As @Wherenext has mentioned we had a lovely afternoon with them yesterday drinking tea and chatting. I think we outstayed our welcome in the cafe at Ferry Meadows as the time passed so quickly. They were very kind and accommodating though. Today we had lunch in the new Cathedral cafe (called CATH) with our son. It was excellent. Tomorrow we are meeting friends for lunch at The Bull in town so a very sociable week!

@Takethedogalong I hope you are beginning to feel a bit better. I am sorry to hear about Mrs @nelliethehooker's fall and hope she has no lasting ill effects. Sorry to hear also that @Goldie146 seems to have had a set back and hope it resolves.

I worked at Thorpe Wood from 1983 to 1987 when the Police, Pearl Assurance, TSB of Eastern England and Thomas Cook all had offices that backed on to Ferry Meadows; we lived at Castor and used to wander around Ferry Meadows or cycle around it on Summer evenings and/or weekends. Happy days!

Sterilising the freshwater tank underway. Puriclean powder left in the M/Home tank for some 6 hours, having drawn sufficient of the solution to reach the kitchen sink, shower head and bathroom hand basin, then 1.5 tankfuls of freshwater drawn through the system to remove the eau de swimming baths aroma. Reasonable amount of the Puriclean solution flushed through the taps and showerhead, and then into the grey water tank, so the latter should be sweeter smelling!

Further fresh water flush planned for tomorrow, and then the Truma water heater descaling to do. Meanwhile, the upholsterer told me this morning that there are 8 of the 9 cushions completed with new leather and new foam, and the final cushion should be ready for collection on Tuesday, so we should be ok to attend the Rally at Barnoldswick. Might look a bit odd with grey leather habitation area seating and the original beige Captain's seats in the cab [Phase 2 of the exercise], but a blind man on a galloping horse won't notice, as my grandmother used to say … 😁

I have received a couple of strange emails from the club this week! The first from Club Together congratulating me on being promoted to a Forum Participant! 🤔🤔 I only been a memberships 2016l It has taken them a while to catch up!😁

The second one, yesterday, and a very condescending one, from the CEO about reducing costs of touring.....by saving fuel, not a single mention of reducing site fees to help members who want to use club sites!! What a waste of time and effort!

@nelliethehooker Thanks very much! The gardens at Crathes Castle are a little more established than ours, but have been around longer! Bought a few yellow plants [Aldi Best …] for the rear garden shade yesterday, but discovered a large lump of concrete that started under an adjoining slab. So, kneel on dodgy hips with large disc cutter to reshape the slab, just as the heavens opened, removing the cut line and turning the slab dust to ready mixed cement on the front of my fleece … . Then back to the sterilising of the M/Home freshwater tank after the rain!

Good news is that Asda Kirkcaldy has diesel at 186.7p and Sainsburys at 186.9p, but we were able to use our Nectar points at the latter to reduce the price to £1.167p per litre! But in 'proper money' terms, the pump price is £8.50 per gallon!

That’s us arrived and set up. Left home yesterday afternoon we normally stay at a CL at Longtown but thought we’d do something different so booked in to Greenacres caravan park near Carlisle what a great site one of the best we’ve been to the grounds are well kept and there was a food truck on site so no need to cook also they had a great club house with sky sports so I went there and watched the football last night the bar is stocked and there is an honesty box to pay wonderful we plan on going back there for a few nights later in the year. Easy enough tow across the A66 this morning some road works so speed restricted to 40 mph in a lot of places but the traffic was flowing. Got here bang on one and got set up we have the awning up as we are here for 9 nights first time the awning has been up since our trip to Norfolk last summer good to have the extra space. Weather here nice at the moment so just about to cook pizza on the Cadac. Might wander to the pub near the site later for a drink

Hope everyone else is having a nice weekend
