Hi @KjellNN. Conkers site is fine for 4/5 days - it rather depends on what you'd like to see and how far you'd want to drive, if you'd prefer not to walk.... the Conkers 'Activity Centre' is next door but would involve some walking. Calke Abbey (National Trust) is about 9 miles away. Ashby-de-la-Zouch is about 4 miles away - a pleasant market town with cafe's and pubs + a castle (English Heritage) - just found this.... [
Just down the road from the site is Moira ( with the Moira Furnace Museum and Country Park - I believe you can go on a canal boat ride!!). Twycross Zoo is about 7 miles away. Then there's Burton-on-Trent and the National Brewery Centre - around 8 miles away...[https://nationalbrewerycentre.co.uk/visit-ticket/] . The Rosliston Forestry Centre (about 4 miles away) with a cafe [https://www.roslistonforestrycentre.co.uk/] - speaking of which... a bit further (19 miles) is the High Ash Country Store with the little cafe - Cobwebs.... fresh cream cakes!!! Then there's Lichfield Cathedral... (14 miles??)....
Conkers C&CC site is quite open (no serviced pitched), but is fine.... (they did have a pizza van on the Friday night, but don't know how frequentry this happens).
Don't know if this is of any help... 🙂

Went to our Lunch Club, which consists of a small group of ex colleagues, today at a small pub/restaurant which the group uses a few times a year. Since my stroke this only the second time we have attended as I had to get over the possible embarrassment of eating in public. Fortunately an unfounded worry and everyone has been kind to me. We go by taxi and on the way back we got the driver to drop us off at the polling station so we could vote. It was surprisingly busy which is encouraging. I don't think I can remember a local election where there have been so many leaflet drops? Voting was in the Parish Council office at our local shops. Managed to walk home from there, so a sense of achievement.

Yes it was a 2020 Plus Four, a lovely looking car.

We enjoyed a trip to Constable Burton Hall near Leyburn today. It was one of the visits the HHA offers. It was a tour of some of the house with the current Wyvill owner with a 2 course lunch included. After which we were invited to look around the gardens ourselves. There had been a Tulip Festival for a couple of days over the holiday weekend, they were all still beautiful and so varied.

Lovely photos @heddlo Such beautiful tulips.

Grand photos and what a display of Tulips @heddlo Although we have been members of HHA for many years we have yet to try one of their special tours.
That's a quick turnaround @DSB enjoy your next trip to Bridlington. And you have a peaceful time at Skybarn @richardandros
Lovely looking Poppies @milliehull
You certainly appear to have done a lot of work on the house @marchie well done.

We visited Lossiemouth today and were very pleasantly surprised with the great beaches which extend for miles both East and West. We had a walk on the East Beach before lunch and then around to the harbour after, finishing off with an Italian ice cream. Stopped off in Elgin for some essential supplies.

ThIs mural represents a little of the past fishing industry of the town.
I sent an email this evening at 6:30 enquiring about booking a CL and had a reply with confirmation within 15 mins! I wish others were as quick with their responses, as some take days in getting back, if at all. I sometimes wonder if certain site owners are just not interested in attracting custom.

Have a great time @nelliethehooker. When we were up that way, we stayed at the site at Grantown-on-Spey.

Decided to walk into St.Neots this morning from site. A pleasant 15 minute walk. First time here. Nice small friendly town. Wanted to check out St.Mary church. It has been described as having the finest Tower of any church in Cambs. Very impressive especially the pleasing brickwork. Some photos of the very well looked after interior.
Passed through a lovely meadow area on the return. Had to have my usual decorative iron work.
Carried on the walk through the site down to an old mill area, now a pub and some buildings converted to terraced living properties.
Weather was warm and sunny this morning so OH got some washing done. One of the better sites we've stopped at.
Lovely photos of Tulips @heddlo. Word of warning for dog owners though. They're dangerous for your dog to be around.

where is the best place to find out about the latest information on towing with a hybrid vehicle, we’re seriously considering a Kia Sportage around 2 years old to tow a 2 berth Coachman. Should the car dealership be able to give us the necessary information or the caravan dealer?
0 -
Suggest you look through the towcar section and, if necessary, start a thread. Trust neither car dealers nor caravan dealers as they’re only interested in making a sale.

sorry @Tinwheeler I’m an amateur on here and don’t know how to ‘start a thread’

Great photos all, please keep posting them, brightens the day. It’s been a very busy week since back from the caravan. After the oncologist sent me for the bone scan then the surgeon sent me for an ultrasound, I was rather stressed, the girls were lovely, and I think very thorough, they said seemed all clear, such a relief, I was dreading the word biopsy. Then the breast nurse, they cant actually say I’m clear because it had spread but she has now signed me off, (I hope) so that will do me, just the yearly mammogram now, plus all the tablets, I rattle. I can honestly say that they were all the loveliest of people and the care was very good.
Daughter abroad for 10 days so we took our granddaughter 30 miles to catch the train for tests in Plymouth hospital, we couldn’t go with her as I had hospital appointments. She was suddenly taken very ill in hospital and needed to be kept there for a CT scan on her head. We were so worried. Then an old friend from her previous uni went and sat with her, then another friend turned up, waited and took her home to hers for the night. She has some good friends, and I think the majority of today’s youths are lovely. We just picked her up again from the station. She has been rather down for the last few months as at the final 5 months of her teacher training they said she couldn’t continue as rushed to hospital so often. She would have carried on, she even sometimes turned up for work after being discharged from hospital at 10pm the night before. Anyway, on the way home in the car she suddenly shouted ‘Yes’, without telling anyone she has applied to do her Masters back at Uni, and she’d just had a phone message to say she’d been accepted! Yes we will all be worried about her being away again, but she just refuses to sit at home and do nothing. So very proud of her. That’s 2 of our grandchildren doing their Masters next year. Wish we could tell their great grandparents that.
Sorry for the long post. It’s torrential rain here. Our garden is very green and lush. Water barrels all full. And the slugs are loving it!
Hope all those away are enjoying their breaks.4 -

We drove across to Dufftown and visited Balvenie Castle before talking a walk through the town's woods. Stopped on the way back to view Telford's Bridge over the R.Spey followed by a walk along by the river.
Balvenie Castle, which is on a hill directly above the Glenfiddich and Balvenie distilleries.

St Neots C&CC site is one of our favourite club sites @Wherenext . We normally take a table and chairs to the riverside with a few nibbles and a bottle of wine, bliss. We’re actually there again in just over a month or so, at the end of our tour.
@DavidKlyne , I’ve been meaning to ask for a while, how are you getting on after your stroke?
1 -
@Freddy55 Thanks for asking. In a few days time it will be the first aniversary! I am not sure if this is as good as it gets but I am relatively independant, obviously still depending on Margaret for many things. I try to exercise each day in the hope that it will strengthen the legs. I still have a problem with feeling in both my left arm and leg. Things that you took for granted before are now more difficult but you have to persevere. I suspect further improvrment will be slow but we have to hope and carry on with life as best we can. Although I am no longer an active camper its nice to keep in touch on this group with all things CMC and beyond.

I am still doing my jigsaw puzzles and have just completed my latest one. I was attracted to this one because of the Morris Traveller, mine was a green. Did they ever produce them in the colour illustrated? Remember seeing a German register version in red when we were on holiday in Germany years ago.

@DavidKlyne , one year already, where did that year go! Apart from the physical aspects, I imagine that emotionally and psychologically it must be tough but it sounds like you’re being pretty stoic about it. As someone that suffers with depression, I don’t know how I’d cope.
Currently at Blackmore C&CC site for what has become our annual visit to the RHS spring show, Malvern. Weather looks set fair 🙂

Today started sunny, but now dull and some rain. DD and the boys are here so that I can take her out in our car to try out towing. Still 12 days till she gets one fitted on her own car.
She has bought stretch covers to try out on the front seats, one seat and one back. They seem a good fit so she will order a matching pair for the other seat, and a spare set, possibly in a different colour.
Yesterday we were at Ikea to pick up some bathroom cabinets for SIL’s flat, and a few other items, so we bought an extra doormat for the caravan, and 3 additional storage boxes for the stuff that will now have to travel in the car.
The drawers below the sink in the van have rather low sides and backs, despite there being space for taller ones, which I can see items could well escape over when on the move, so DD will make some lightweight extension pieces on her 3D Printer which we will screw in place. She also says she can print made to measure cutlery and utensil trays, so that sounds interesting. We could also do with a paper towel roll holder.
We have some additional hooks to stick up for towels in the bathroom and kitchen, and jackets in the bedroom, plate and mug racks to fix into lockers, and I plan to fit the Load Monitor to the Alde system, so plenty to be going on with. Still have all the stuff from the old van to sort through too, and I think we will have to make fitted sheets for the single beds as they are an odd size. MIL had several flat sheets for her beds, we do not need them, so hopefully can use them to make fitted ones from.

@DavidKlyne really liked the jigsaw, brought back memories for me. The house in the background looks very similar to OH’s family house in Surrey. My Dad had a green Morris Traveller too, even at my young age I remember it was always breaking down though!! 🤣

Lovely photos @nelliethehooker I particularly like the lovely beach at Lossiemouth - so beautiful and also the lovely little highland cow calf - so cute.
Lovely photos of St Neots @Wherenext such a beautiful church. I have only ever been through St Neots on the train. The weather is looking good for you at the moment. Wall to wall sushine here.
Well done with the jigsaw @DavidKlyne
I have done a lot of gardening these past few days - planting, cutting back and cutting the grass. Our garden help comes every 2 weeks which is too long to leave the grass at the moment. My back is now telling me off!

Keep at it @DavidKlyne. It took me 2 and a half years before I could carry 2 mugs of tea through from the kitchen to our front room without spilling any of it. Still can't manage a cup though.
Another lovely day. We decided to walk from site through St Neots to Little Paxton and around Paxton Pits again. Quite a longish walk for me, just over 7 miles but a strategically placed tea stop and a pub for a cider helped. Had to walk past the church again so a better photo of the Tower. Plus a photo for all cat owners.
