Have folks had the (text) message about the National Emergency Alarm test due to happen tomorrow? 3pm on compatible phones, supposed to be loud and vibrating, even if your phone is on silent. There are instructions on how to turn off if necessary.

@milliehull - sorry to hear about your friend - here's hoping you get some better news soon.
Good luck with the Op @heddlo and hope you are back on your feet (literally!) very quickly.
We both spent yesterday morning doing the same as you @DavidKlyne - must be the season for it! I was really pleased with my BP reading - 125/72 - best it's been for ages😀.
Starting to get the van ready for our next trip in a week's time. Nothing ambitious, this time - just popping up to West Ayton. Not been there before, but one of our neighbours goes regularly, so thought we would have a look. It's also not very far away from our favourite fish and chip shop at Staxton, so I suspect there will be at least one trip there🍟😋

@heddlo Good luck for Monday.

Good luck @heddlo. The physio starts Tuesday!😁
We're back home after a flying 1 night get away, but it feels longer. Some photos from yesterdays outing.
The door to the Old Mill at Bodnant was open for inspection, no entrance. Both door and wheel look substantial.
A bee having lunch.😁
This morning we went to a church that was closed last time we visited in Winter but was open today as part of the Open Day festival. As it was just 5 minutes from the campsite we dropped in. It's sited near the River Conway and was built on the site of an old Roman Fort (small). Part of the simple church dates back to the 1300s.
The boards explain the Roman connection
A wooden plaque of St.Francis of Assisi.
A simple but unusual small chair found in a Vestry.
After visiting the church we headed home via Betws-y-Coed in the hope of ending OHs seemingly impossible search for some walking sandals. It was heaving! There was an Ultra Marathon going on starting this morning (100kms up into the hills as well). They're mad, in my humble opinion.😂 However the search ended in failure yet again. We did enjoy a lovely drive home over the Denbighshire Moors. A photo of one on the rapid falls that run through the town.

@richardandros we have been regular visitors to West Ayton over the years the latest stay we had there was Easter this year. It’s a nice site excellent for visiting Scarborough and a lovely pub close by but be warned it’s a hill on the way back lol but worth it nice beers and good meals too
Enjoy

@heddlo Hope all goes ok for Monday.
OH's back improving and he has done some light chores outside as folks have said yes worse when in bed and I know as I get it from time to time but have certain exercises I can do to help plus rubbing the Hemp cream on it.
Very warm here today 33.4C but going cooler tomorrow as a storm due but did get all the washing done and dry plus defrosted a small chest freezer whilst not too much in it.
Starting to sort things out ready for our holiday next Sunday which we are looking forward to it, off to friends for lunch this Wednesday and then our 54th wedding anniversary on Thursday not going out but will have a ice meal at home and will have a few meals out whilst on holiday.

Lovely photos @Wherenext Looks like an interesting visit.
We went to Old Hunstanton, had a wander along the cliff top as far as the beach and back again. I would have l liked to walk further but that was as far as OH's mobility would allow. We had a very good light lunch at the cliff top cafe. It has been sunshine and clouds with a breeze but pleasantly warm. I attach a few photos of the lovely beach, the old lighthouse and the old coastguard lookout which is now a holiday cottage.
Slightly more encouraging news about our friend today

@milliehull - good news about your friend. Let's hope it continues and that you can enjoy the rest of your stay.

@RedKite good to read that your OH's back is improving. Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary and I hope you enjoy the day, and your holiday too. It is our 57th later this month but not something we bother about these days.
All the best for Monday @heddlo fingers crossed that all goes well.
@KjellNN I hope that the physiotherapist is able to ease the pain in your OH's leg.
Grand photos @milliehull they bring back memories as the last time we were there was in the company of the @Wherenext@Wherenext (It was both of them😁) It is good to hear of your friend's improvement.
Enjoy your trip to West Ayton @richardandros
Some fine photos from you too @Wherenext glad you had a good couple of days away.
We returned to Staveley Nature Reserve this morning and did the full circuit of the reserve this time, coming home with a large bag of mixed apples and a smaller one of damsons. Stewing them in the microwave will be a job for later in the week when we are on a site with EHU.
The site is busier again tonight with yet again only one non-EHU not occupied but with a few more units on the pitches with EHU.

Filthy day today. Rain started about 10 this morning and hasn't let up since. Was hoping to give the Van a clean and hoover but hopefully it will get done tomorrow when the ladies are out at Physio for MiL. Probably won't get away in it for jaunts for a while now. Too many things happening this week then we'll be taking MiL away for a short break.

We paid Norfolk Lavender another visit today as we wanted to try their lavender ice cream as recommended by @Bakers2 (It was delicious) and also to buy a couple more lavender plants. They have ĥarvested all their lavender now. It is has been glorious weather today but has clouded over a bit now. Still very warm though.

Sorry @Wherenext I have just read yiur post about your weather. Please dont send it over here!

Family came today, both grown up grandchildren a bit hungover from last night but our grandson looked rather peaky, he must have been unwell as he didn’t eat much, very unusual. He’s off to uni in 2 weeks so I think he’s practicing. We popped into Stratford, Son and offspring’s had a wander round while OH, DIL and I had a soft drink and a natter in the Dirty Duck, it was very busy as usual. Grand dog was in disgrace she was taken for a walk on arrival and apparently in an instance she jumped into the river. She was a state, I had to find a dark towel, it’s one we only use for our hands occasionally I’ve just washed it. She didn’t think much of not being allowed in until dry. Nice bbq just avoided the rain. Question though - I prepared the salad, the potato salad, the pasta salad and the deserts, OH put the sausages etc on the BBQ, the family then congratulated him on doing the BBQ, seriously. Very quiet here now, autumn coming in.3

As the last post appears to have gone through ok, will try another one.
@DavidKlyne good to hear from you again,. It must be frustrating not to be able to just get in the car and go. I hope it will be possible for you to be able to drive again. All the best for Margaret's 2nd hip replacement; hope it won't be too long.
@Wherenext I'm pleased you got a night away, I hope it's not too long before the next time you can get away. It does recharge the batteries as they say.
@DEBSC Have been to Snowshill, totally agree, can't understand why the past, warts and all, can't be shown and told. We need to learn from it, how can we do that without being told exactly of what happened in the past. Slavery happened, it's a fact, you can't pretend it didn't. We enjoy the Cotswolds too.
Enjoying photos and reports of trips away. We're currently in France, not far from Lyon, heading further south tomorrow, planning to visit some sites we haven't been to since before Covid.

Looks a lovely day in Norfolk, @milliehull glad that you enjoyed the ice cream, which we must search out next time we are down that way.
Have a safe and enjoyable trip through France @InaD I guess it will be a bit warmer if not drier than back home.
Nice little story of the Grand dog's antics @DEBSC it's hard work keeping them out the water when they are off their leads.
It stayed dry throughout the morning, so we got packed up in the dry and set up in our current CL likewise. We did have a thunderstorm in the middle of the afternoon, just after we had got back from a trip into the local town for some frozen goods, but it didn't last very long although it did clear the air somewhat. Unfortunately it was still cloudy so didn't get to see the Blood Moon. This is a new site for us, and a real bargain, no wonder it is full tonight.

I've not spoken much about this lately - just been waiting until we had the official letter. Our son James' article in The Farmers Guardian (see photo) explains it a bit. WE ARE TB FREE! We have entered three cows in The Westmorland Show on Thursday and our Grandson is taking four calves to The All England Calf Show next week. They have all been pre-movement tested and passed. Next All Herd Test June 2026.

@Goldie146 Excellent news at last and a interesting article to read hopefully it can sorted and good luck with your new enterprise with the milk venture your family deserve it.
After a rather warm weekend now wet this morning so inside chores only, OH's back much better he has found a different way to get out of bed backwards well that is different.
@milliehull I tried lavender ice cream many years ago in Amboise France and was not keen, we have been to the Lavender farm many years when visiting OH's relatives in Norfolk enjoy the rest of your holiday.

@Goldie146 in a way, I presume, that makes you even more frustrated to know that 50 of your herd possibly needn’t have been culled. How many other farms has this happened to and it hasn’t been picked up as your results have. All very strange and, as you say, it clearly needs looking in to by the powers that be. At least you now have a clear run until next year when hopefully you will be clear.2

That’s great news Goldie. 👍

GGreat News that you've no more TB tests until next June @Goldie146. I do hope that investigations into why you had reactors can be undertaken and issues causing such results can be sorted. I don't expect that'll be swift regardless. Very sad that you, and possibly others lost cows. Fingers crossed for the future.
Good to read folks news and see wonderful photos.
Good luck @heddlo and all those suffering or recovering at present. I'm saying little about my PF as even thinking how it's doing makes it go backwards.....
@milliehull delighted you enjoyed lavender ice cream.
Little To.report here, we are having our waterbutts slowly replenished at last! We've had beautiful starts to our days with it clouding over late morning recently. Fingers crossed it's lasting longer today. The greyness is just that, warm, no sun or rain....
Enjoying lunch in the garden, it's rather warm in the full.sun, but as usual, of late, we have a strong breeze.
We've had some lovely views of the moon recently, of course you've guessed not last night. Beautiful pink clouds in the east but no sight of the moon. Heyho. We tried.
This week, we commence grandparent duties of collection from school one night a week. No.idea once we have him how he gets home/fed.... I'm sure it will be sorted, eventually. Mustn't rush these things! In fact I had a text last week asking about an extra day as DIL just realised she has a meeting tomorrow at 1630. We have meter exchange date - again. So she'll collect and drop him here.. son learned over Saturday dinner here he's to collect the littlest from nursery and collect eldest from here that day too 🤣
Don't know if anyone saw Songs of Praise yesterday? About 15 minutes in a feature on Coffe Ark. A fabulous community asset, thats been established since we arrived. Fabulous vicar, I liken her to a cross between vicar of Dibley and Rev Kate Bott. Sadly the diocesan has head hunted her for a role so she'll be going from the village but will retain her connection with Coffe Ark.

Back from Pembrokeshire last Wednesday, but feet haven't touched the ground since we've got back... it's been a hectic few days so apologies for my absence from CT. I've been reading (all the email notifucations), but just haven't had the chance to get into posting! I'll try and do better this next week now that I've started things up again here.... hoping things will settle down a bit after tomorrows meeting - most rehearsal plan outlines should then be in place for Christmas concerts....!!!
Lovely to see all the photos that folk are posting, and for the updates on what have been up to, and the health updates.... good wishes to all.
David

Such good news @Goldie146 You must all be so relieved.
Glad to hear that you are safely back home.
We visited Sandringham House and church today. We have been before a few years ago but well worth another visit. King Charles has made quite a few changes - all for the better. The lawns at the front of the house have been turned into a topiary rose garden which are beautiful and a great improvement. The room guides are extremely good, full of information and ancedotes. The church is lovely. I love the silver altar and pulpit. It is the 3rd anniversary of the Queen's death
today so an excellent day to mark the occasion.
And of course we had to have a look at the cars as well!

Best of luck with the grandparent duties @Bakers2 . I remember those days with great fondness.

Wonderful photos of Sandringham @milliehull - thanks for sharing. We've never been to Sandringham, but it's been on my wish list ever since Sandringham CAMC site have 'installed' serviced pitches.. 🙂

@milliehull great pics we visited sandringham for the first time in July while we were staying at Cromer. We had a great day out really enjoyed it even had a shot of the maze which was fun. Visited the church too which was great as we always watch the royals do the walk to it on Christmas morning

Lovely to see your grand photos of Sandringham @milliehull thanks for posting them.
Great news @Goldie146 fingers crossed that your herd remains clear at the next round of testing.
Nice to see you are back home and posting once again, @DSB Hope you manage to sort out your programme leading up to Christmas.
Good to read that your OH has found a way to alleviate his back pain @RedKite
Best of luck with your grandparenting duties @Bakers2 we have not had that pleasure as our grandson lived a long way from our home.

It has been a fine day here with just one very short rain shower. We visited Kipling Hall, where they have recently done much work, especially with converting the old stables into a new reception area and cafe, and in the walled garden. We had a good walk through the woodlands and parkland before lunch and the went around the house afterwards.
Saw this on our early morning walk and another this evening.
Views of the walled garden, Lady Tyrconnell's garden, and some of the garden's produce.
Two pieces of furniture that took my eye, 17C Hall Chairs

Lovely photos @milliehull. Although we've been to Sandringham lots of times, we've never been to the house - mainly because we have Meg with us. We're there again for Christmas, this year - on one of the new serviced pitches (long overdue!)
Pleased you're safely back home @DSB and you seem to have had a very good trip.
@Goldie146 - absolutely wonderful news for you and your family - at long last. But what a tragedy that you have lost so many animals in the process. Let's hope you can get to the bottom of it all.
Well, what a traumatic and worrying day we had yesterday. While we were away at Thornthorpe CS (near Malton) a few weeks ago, I noticed a growth on Meg's snout - just above her top lip. It was irregular in shape and about the size of a pea. I hadn't noticed it before because of all the fur.
Since we weren't that far away from our own Vet in Beverley, I took her straight there and Mary, our lovely Vet who has looked after her since we got her, took one look and announced, "It's a wart - just a wart - and I'm not going to do anything about it unless it starts to grow quickly." She added that, despite Meg's age (nearly 12) - if she had to, she wouldn't be at all concerned about operating since she, in her opinion, had the health of a dog half her age.
Jump forward three weeks to yesterday and we had both become concerned that the 'wart' was growing rapidly. Add in the fact, that Andrew - who owns Thornthorpe, had recently lost his Labrador in similar circumstances when a similar growth turned out to be cancerous.
Back to the Vet's yesterday and although Mary didn't think the wart was growing acknowledged that it was causing US stress and it was best to remove it. Whether or not it was the right decision, I wasn't sure, but in view of Andrew's experience, I felt it was the best thing to do.
So surgery for Meg yesterday and I have to say, it was the longest two hours I have ever known. Fortunately, when we got the phone call to say she had come round and was fine - having immediately devoured a little box of kibble I left with her!, I breathed a massive sigh of relief.
Although she was a bit wobbly when we brought her home - she's as right as rain, this morning.
Thank goodness for pet insurance, though!
