Glad all went to plan and you enjoyed yourselves @Goldie146.

The Van goes in to the dealers tomorrow to get the paint botch job rectified. We've really enjoyed, and been grateful for, the nights we've spent away in it but have had the enjoyment tempered by the poor quality of service we've had when problems have reared up. I'm hoping we now get a clear trouble free run.

MiL out with some friends all afternoon (yes it did entail some clothes buying) so we went for a walk. Overcast but warm enough.

Hope you get a satisfactory job done this time @Wherenext , a shame that wasn't done in the first place!

Good to read that you had a nice time at the wedding @Goldie146

A dull but dry day today, not much done apart from more cleaning during the morning and a trip to the surgery for OH's annual check up after lunch followed by a walk in the local park.

Hope the van has been sorted to your absolute satisfaction @Wherenext. I know I get so frustrated when things haven't been done properly to our van!

Wonderful photos David, @DSB - can't get over how blue the sea is.! Long time since I've been in that part of the world. And pleased the wedding went well @Goldie146 - tell Mr Goldie, I think his waistcoat's great!!

Had a lovely day out today - went to the Royal Oak in Old Malton for lunch to celebrate Ros's birthday. Would be inappropriate of me to say which birthday she was celebrating - but it was two consecutive numbers🤔. We invited our dear friend Philomena and we had a lovely time, but it hit us both that this was the first time in so many years that Tony wasn't there.

We're both feeling so stuffed now that the chocolate and fresh cream birthday cake will have to stay in the fridge until tomorrow!🎂

@richardandros - I’ll pass it on. Waistcoats are his weakness. How many does a farmer need?

When I was working my main "weakness" for dress sense was Ties. The only one I wear these days is a Black one to funerals.😪

Travel back and to day today. Mainly to the dealers to get the paint work sorted. It looks OK now. Have to wait to see if it changes through curing so not completely out of the woods until tomorrow.

Top part of the enamel on my lower front tooth disappeared when having lunch. I suspect I swallowed it. Phoned Dentist. My own dentist on holiday for 2 weeks. Emergency only if hurting. Couldn't lie as its not at present so won't take someone else's urgent appointment away. Hope the back part of the tooth stands up for next 2 weeks though. Had intended booking a club site for the exact date that appointment now for. Typical.

@richardandros please pass on our birthday greetings to Ros, even if a bit belated. Glad you were able to meet up with your friend and enjoyed your meal together.

It is very quiet on here again tonight! Have not done a lot myself today, apart from finishing the cleaning of the caravan.

Trouble is back, so not so quiet now🤣

Lovely day out for us, across to Epworth again to family. We enjoyed the Classic Car Show last Sunday, but today was spent helping a neice move some hardcore and Gravel for their huge garden. I got to potter about deadheading things, helping with roses, etc…… Our Mini will have a new home as well, if the insurance quote comes back reasonable. Staying in the family, which is nice as it’s a grand little car, deserves a good home, never let me down. OH has new wings for Jeep painted up, so that resto is moving along nicely.
Mum day for me tomorrow, so more garden TLC, then it’s craft night as well. Busy, busy.

It’s been constant hospital appointments for both of us the last week or so but looking clearer now until September. Granddaughter fainted, not unusual, but this time she fell straight down the stairs, unconscious at the bottom of the stairs. Rushed into hospital and has fractured a bone in her neck. After OHs hospital appointments yesterday we visited her in the ward, they have her on morphine and she may have to wear a neck brace for some weeks. She wasn’t amused when we called her Mrs Tishul (Doc Martin) She has been approved for an assistance dog, which will tell her when she’s about to pass out, in order that she can sit down. She’s been waiting a while and will still have to wait for some months, but it’s now moving along.
@Wherenext on dentist front. I haven’t had anything done for 50 years since our daughter was born. A few months ago I started on new tablets due to the cancer. Told, inform your dentist as the tablets will make any treatment much more difficult, I wasn’t too concerned. Breezed into dentist for a checkup last week. Told ‘Your very old filling in that back tooth is breaking down underneath, it will have to come out!’ Hospital now say as I’ve not been on the tablets long to come off them for 2 months before the tooth extraction. Now booked in at dentist for November but they say a dentist from the hospital will have to come in and extract the tooth due to me having taken the tablets. 50 years and nothing then this 2 months after taking the tablets, that’s definitely someone’s law. The
price of it is eye watering.
Hopefully off to the caravan soon for a long break away.

WN: In our modern world where there are so many selfish people, it was very refreshing to read that you decided not to lie about your dental problem thus allowing someone who may have been in greater need to obtain an emergency appointment.

Thank you. It's surprising how honesty is now noticed isn't it? Not long ago it was taken for granted. A sign of the times.

Really sorry to hear of your dental delay @DEBSC and of your Gds misfortune. Those dogs are absolutely wonderful. Hope she soon has one.

Trip to the Recycling Centre after clearing the garage out this morning. To be honest it doesn't look much different now.😂 However the malfunctioning Printer has gone.

Thank you for such great photos @DSB It looks a wonderful place.

I hope you get your tooth fixed soon @Wherenext and you have no problems with it in the meantime. Good job clearing the garage. Our eldest son and DIL helped clear ours some months ago as they had a skip. Loads of stuff taken away but it doesnt look a lot different now!

Here in the east we haven't had the good weather that some of you have enjoyed. It has been grey and dreary so we could do with some sun please. It was nice to get some cooler temperatures initially but it is now decidedly chilly - almost autumnal. Our local health club have a sale during August so I decided to treat myself and had a back, neck and shoulder massage this morning - so relaxing. Back to earth with a bang this afternoon - supermarket shopping. Our youngest son rang from NI this evening. Our 15 year old grandson took his music GCSE a year early and got his result today, he got an A so we are very proud of him.

I do hope your grand-daughter gets her assistance dog soon @DEBSC They really are marvellous..

Great photos again @DSB and today looks a much sunnier day than yesterday.

So sorry to read of your granddaughter's fall @DEBSC and hope that she is soon out of hospital. The assistance dog should make her life a bit easier and less stressful. Hope you have no problems when you get your tooth extracted, and that you are able to get away for a few days, at least, to your caravan.

Fingers crossed that you have no toothache while waiting for your dentist to get back from her holiday @Wherenext Has the paint job been a success?

Your grandson did very well @milliehull congratulations to him. I am sure you are feeling well after your massage today, and it looks as if it will warm up for the weekend, so autumn will be delayed a while yet.

We spent most of the day in the garden tidying up and weeding after being away for 7 weeks, with still more to be done tomorrow. Thankfully it has not been too warm or sunny, and that looks to be continuing through to the weekend.

Stunning photos @DSB - looks as if you are having a great time, David.

Sorry to hear about your GD's fall @DEBSC - still - something good has come out of it if she's going to get her own special 'friend'. Hope all goes well.

Don't envy you, your task @nelliethehooker - our garden will be bad enough after just two weeks away - so I certainly wouldn't like to tackle yours! At least, as you say, the weather is better for doing it now, than it was a week ago!

Not quite the same standard as David's pics - but the ladies of Pickering are still at it - here's their latest contribution. I gather it's something to do with Harry Potter but I must confess, that means nothing to me🤔

Lovely topper! Definitely HP themed, that’s Hedwig, the Sorting Hat and Quidditch brooms. That looks a very interesting post box as well, a double front opening! Must see which reign it is from next time we visit. I was at my craft class last night, the solo knitter amongst more doing crochet.

@Takethedogalong I recognised all the HP items on the Post box topper too! Very clever people. Have you never read any of the books @richardandros ? They were very good, older kids’ books, we read them all and enjoyed them. We don’t normally read that age group or genre I admit! It made a good connection with our older grandchildren too, we could discuss the books with them a few years ago, as we have no interest in football!!!

I had my Pre Op assessment yesterday for my upcoming hip replacement. I assume all will be ok. I have to take my own blood pressure readings for a week and email over to them. As is always the case for me, my blood pressure was very high in the hospital, I can’t have it taken at the GP’s either without raised eyebrows. I do wish it didn’t behave like that but it always does, even if I feel fairly calm! I did take some readings with me that she accepted but I need to do them again on their ‘official’ form. It’s called white coat syndrome according to my sister! 🤷🏻‍♀️. I’ll be really glad to get it done and over with now, I’m feeling more anxious and at times weepy about doing it all again. I have no idea why I feel like this, as it was only the first few days that were a bit difficult with the first one, and it was amazing to be free of the pain; I’m sure all will be well and I feel so lucky to get it done so quickly but it’s not something I’m looking forward to!

@DSB (won’t go red!). Pictures look amazing such a beautiful place. Hope everyone has a good Bank Holiday weekend.

@heddlo sorry you're feeling that way. I completely get it. It'll soon be over and done with hopefully. Then the only way is up.

Yes white coat syndrome I get that too. I keep being told it's silly, but I know what caused it. More than 30 years ago, post delivery, feet in stirrups for 2 hours, forceps and a kidney bowl between my legs 🫣😡, sorry for the graphic description, with an automatic blood pressure machine taking readings every 15 minutes. Worrying/wondering next move! Now that cuff only has to be attached and a whirr... I take my BP at home, but it can go high even there.

Not much happening here. Grey again today, just about warm, good pottering weather. It has been chilly the last couple of mornings.

We must have had some moisture Tuesday night into Wednesday..nothing to see on the ground but I got muddy boots 🫣 A novel experience of late

    20250820_112224.jpg

NNaturally no good for the garden. Harvested my first ever corn on the cob Wednesday, grandson enjoyed it raw!

Off to do Shaun the Sheep at the cathedral tomorrow.

Good to read other's news and see wonderful photos. Thanks @DSB I thought I'd misremembered the beaches and sea colour of the Isles.

    Enjoy your weekend folks.

I have white coat syndrome as well, always do mine at home. Muddy boots, there’s a rarity🤩

@heddlo wishing you all the best, and try not to worry if you can, not easy though.

I am collecting supplies for a Christmas project at the moment. Doing a few trial runs to see if it will work out ok.
Spent all morning doing housework (😞😡🤨😏) something always goes wrong when I do a big clean, this time it was my fave machine, the dishwasher. Took it apart to do filters, etc… couldn’t get the strainers back in, took me blinking ages to sort it out😡 OH has been busy checking over my Mini for its departure, it’s going to a neice, so we want to make sure all is ok for her. We sat outside for lunch, but our heating actually kicked in briefly last night……..Autumn is coming! Might need wetsuits in pool now🤭

@heddlo Because of her previous heart bypass operation Margaret had to submit BP readings, for Ithink 3 weeks to the Consultant before they agreed tp do her hip replacement.. We had to do three consecutive readings three times a day. This way seems to counter act the odd rogue reading. So it looks as if the operation is not far away now? So hopefully fully recovered in time for Christmas?

Not seen any of that in quite a long while @Bakers2 (sorry no Red)!

Best wishes for your operation @heddlo I hope your BP reading are such that it goes ahead soon.

We had our boiler service this morning, got a phone call from the engineer an hour before he arrived. He found a problem with the water regulator which needs replacing. Received a call at 5 this evening to arrange the work early next week, all covered by our boiler insurance. Great service from Logic.

It has been cloudy and cooler today with just the odd spot of rain. We managed to get some more of the weeding done so the garden is looking a bit less like a jungle now.

We decided to take MiL out to the Country Park at Loggerheads for a stroll this morning. She likes it there and can do a small circular walk, have a cup of tea and buy something from the small information shop. It was really quiet this morning. Overcast but warmish. Yes, she did have a cuppa and yes she did buy a small ornamental bird.

Back home late morning, lunch then a few bits and pieces done in the garden.

Whilst at the Park I received a call from the dentist. Can I come in next Tuesday as they've had a cancellation? Too right I can. Just got to keep myself from overdoing it in the meantime.

Comes to something when a muddy boot is news in the UK.🤣 Good to see @Bakers2.

Dry day here, warm but not hot, and mainly overcast.

The decking oil we had ordered arrived earlier than expected, so I was able to get quite a bit of it treated this afternoon, looks good now.

Still have to finish the far end, but as that involves cutting back a very large shrub, I decided to get most of it done while the wood was nice and dry. Forecast is for it to be mainly dry till Monday, so hope to get the whole thing completed.

Probably (hopefully!) not required down at DD’s until Wednesday, so should be able to get several jobs at home completed.

A bit more dull today here. Went down to Leverburgh at the Southern end of Harris. Lunch at The Bothy and then a quick visit to the Apothecary....

Sad to find that the Temple Cafe at Northton has now closed, but we visited the bookshop closeby and Northton beach, which we really like - the parking is easy...

A funny thing, I’ve always had the impression/idea that Northumberland was a cold, barren place. Am I wrong?(Genuine question)

You are right about one of those things @Freddy55, namely it can be cold but it certainly isn't barren. It's a beautiful county, quite spacious with beaches, castles, moorland, hills, beautiful islands and extremely friendly people.

If it were possible I'd visit every year.

By the way it can also be hot or at least not cold, obviously mostly in Summer.😂

@Freddy55 …………Northumberland is absolutely stunning. Yes, it’s rarely as warm as some places, facing East as it does, and Winter can be very cold, but the beaches, moorlands, towns and villages are absolutely beautiful and full of history and interest. It’s a border county, much fought over throughout history, so there are some of the best Castles in the UK, lovely houses and gardens, plenty to see and do. And then there’s Hadrians Wall…….. It’s a perfect place to take a Motorhome, nice sites, easy access right up to beaches. We love it in Winter as well. We have swum in the sea on many a holiday, so it does get nice weather.
