    Hurump

    GGrumpy Post alert.

New electric smart meter fitting booked for 12-4 today. Numerous confirmation and reminders, telling me there'll be a charge if I'm not in. No problem I'll be ready. Text from the engineer yesterday, with his name. Reminder from the company to say if I don't give 2 days notice ยฃ66 minimum, maybe added to my next bill.

Everything sorted to accommodate visit, few bits removed from the cupboard necessary arrangements for the dog, another request to be kept away from the area.

One hour and 6 minutes, ie 1454, text to say 'unfortunately your meter appointment needs to be rearranged. Please call'. Only explanation is engineer issue. Can't speak to a manager but can ask them to callafter this call - still waiting not holding my breath. My file has been noted I'm not happy - understatement! Poor guy obviously just talking from a crib sheet.. I wasn't rude and didn't raise my voice, I was just full of despair. I said the other way round there'd have been a charge! Stock response very sorry.

Next available appointment 4 weeks. (Not sure they listen fully as I said it's not reading my use - reply no electricity constitutes emergency!)

Managed to turn my 'good' ankle yesterday walking the dog I heard it click ๐Ÿซฃ. Closer inspection showed a horse hoof divet. As usual I was wearing my walking boots thankfully, so plenty of support. I had, a later that morning, with the podiatrist for my PF, both saddened that shockwave treatment, exercises, supports haven't cured it, but we agree a slight improvement. Discussed ankle issue. Damaged ?? tendon, suggested I order online an ankle cuff, as worn by Andy Murray, for ankle and thought it wouldn't hurt for PF. They are specific for left and right so 2 ordered. He strapped my PF again and so best to be down wind of me until it falls off ๐Ÿคฃ. It feels like it's being hugged. Review on 6 months or before if there's issues.

We did have lunch out, so no cooking later.

It's jolly warm here, 31 in the shade..I brought us a chill towel each yesterday. I have to say very effective. As I have 2 feet that need rest, I don't feel too bad about sitting in the shade with my feet up as it's too hot to do anything bar essentials.

Enjoying all the photos and reading of folks 'doings'

Had a lovely couple of days around Llangefni, in the centre of Anglesey. Found a long walk yesterday which was mostly in the shade. "Found" maybe wrong as we've walked part of it in the past but added some on as we were enjoying ourselves.

The CL was lovely but the WiFi rubbish.

Have moved today to a CL near Cemeas Bay in the north of the island. We should be able to do 3 different walks from site without moving the Van. We had a walk this morning near RAF Valley then picked up enough groceries from Tesco in Holyhead before coming to site.

Hopefully a photo of a Chapel in Llangefni that has been restored by a Funeral Directors which seems ironic. Apparently they've restored the chapel area so can conduct services themselves. They've done a grand job. All that's needed now is a Maternity unit next door.

Very frightening @milliehull. MiL once had a phone call from the Fraud Squad about a cloned Credit Card. Fortunately we were there at the time and able to validate the call. Someone in Singapore had bought something on it. Took us a while to reassure her.

You could do with a change of luck yourself @Bakers2. Hope you get one soon.

Arrived home from our Essex trip on Saturday. It hit the spot, total relaxation. Strolling around the farm watching wildlife, picking blackberries even made 2 x crumbles. We only left site on 2 occasions to do shopping.

Mrs One went to Norjam, Scout Jamboree, at the Norwich show ground yesterday.

Tomorrow going to the beach to watch grandson give a Karate

JuJust come back in from the garage via the front door. Thermometer saying 44c 20% humidity ๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿฅต. It has got the full sun at present, but not enclosed......

Phoned our electric provider re meter issue. Complaints noted. ยฃ20 offered off my next bill. Something at the back of my mind said that wasn't enough, off to speak to the team leader agreed ยฃ40 being the amount set out for such inconvenience. I'm assured the next date should go ahead, with flagged notes ๐Ÿคฃ. Why is it that the call handler only authorised for ยฃ20 when the proper figure is ยฃ40????

The chapel looks lovely @Wherenext getting like the USA if they can do services there. Sounds like a nice break for you both. Hopefully it'll be someone else's turn on the life lottery soon..

Oh your break sounds bliss @oneputt, sorry not red, Burnham Wick? I miss that place and the village/town. Saw some of Norjam on Anglia last night. I remember it coming to Chelmsford many years ago. I'm always impressed at what can be achieved with cooperation and volunteers! Mrs Oneputt does applause for her contribution. Hope it's not too hot for your grandson's karate tomorrow. @Oneputt - why?

How frightening @milliehull I hope the shock is wearing off. Were you lucky enough to get some of the showers showing on the radar today? We weren't. Don't suppose it would have done any good.....

I'm off to increase our monthly payment for water, again! We keep getting emails and reminders of how to save water and show comparisons with other similar properties and occupants. We can knock spots off 2 or more houses on quantity used at present. I'm not advocating excessive use at all, I try to be frugal usually. But I reckon the other properties in the comparison have a competition on miserly use..... I keep looking at our use, but they're always 4 days behind. Technology ๐Ÿค”. And I forget how long I watered for or had the sprinkler on. Heyho no pockets in a shroud.

Yes @Bakers2 and @Wherenext it was quite frightening. Apparently it was some sort of gaming company as I was asked if I had ever used one - answer no. Also somewhere abroad as they tried to access my account in the early hours our time. I now cant access my account online for a couple of weeks as it has been frozen and am waiting for my new credit card. Well done NW for picking it up so quickly.

No @Bakers2 no rain showers here. It has been hot and incredibly humid all day. Luckily I was on duty at The Cathedral shop this afternoon and it was lovely and cool in there. Still on feeding cat and watering plants duty for local son and family a journey of about 12 miles accross the fens. Unfortunately we were slightly later than usual as I had been on shop duty so we got caught up in the end of work day traffic so I felt like a wet rag by the time we got home. Lots of harvesting going on in the fens.

Your trip away sounds wonderful @Oneputt. So glad you had a good time.

I hope you get your smart meter sorted out soon @Bakers2 . Why does life have to be so frustrating? โ˜น๏ธ

It has been a hot day from the off, after last evening's rain, so we paid an early visit to Aldi before getting ready to head out for our walks. This time we venture up onto The Helm, well away from the crowds, where we did manage to find a gentle breezecat times. It was hazy over towards The Lakes, so making it hard to get a clear photo. From the top we could look across to @Goldie146's farm as well as out over Kendal.

ThIs is the best photo I could get as we were being attacked by flying ants!

Best of luck getting your smart meter sorted @Bakers2

Good to read that you had a relaxing stay at Burnham Wick @Oneputt and hope it is not too hot for your grandson's karate demonstration tomorrow.

Hope it is not too hot for your walks these next few days @Wherenext and a grand photo of the old Chapel.

@Bakers2 - we had a similar - or perhaps it was the opposite! experience to you on Monday. About two weeks ago, we got a letter from Northern Powergrid to tell us that our electricity would be going off between 0900 and 1200 on Monday - so that they could carry out routine maintenance on a sub-station. Nearly every day I seemed to get both text and email reminders about it. Last Thursday, I had a phone call from an unknown number - which I usually ignore - but this time I answered. It was from a very pleasant young chap from NPG, asking us if we would be OK on Monday with the power being off - since we are on their priority services register because of our ages. Bit of joking and banter from me, saying we could move into the caravan if necessary - and that was it.

Monday comes - so does 0900 - power still on. Then a text saying it would be off at 0915. 0915 comes and goes - power still on. Then another text at 1100 saying power will be restored at 1115 - but it still hasn't gone off!! And it never did. I would have known even if it had been off for a second because the clocks on the ovens would have needed re-setting.

Excellent customer service - all for nothing. Don't know to this day what happened and I don't suppose I ever will๐Ÿ™„

Been a lovely warm and sunny two days here so just been at home sorting out things in the garden. Went up to the garage earlier and got the Mercedes out and went a nice drive along the coast with the roof down lovely night for it. Think the weather is to take a turn for the worse just as the weekend comes in. Great pics again from all those out and about

Just trying to catch up with all the news on here. Spent most of yesterday travelling home from the '2nd leg' (North East) of our Summer travels. Really warm at home yesterday and today - I think probably tbe warmest days of the summer.

Caravan back in storeage for a little while. A visit to see Carol's mum today, and it looks like a visit to IKEA tomorrow, before the '3rd leg' of our summer travels..... up to the Outer Hebrides (without the caravan) to visit our daughter, son in law, and grandson..... A phone call today from daughter.... 'Dad can you pick up 6 boxes of various items from IKEA to bring up with you'.... No IKEA, on Lewis with Harris, and no deliveries there either.... some things just never change... ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Thanks to all for continuing to share photos. Enjoy the wsather while it lasts...

It has been the hottest day so far for us. Decided to have a walk up on Cunswick Fell, searching for a breeze but without any success. Met a group of partially sighted walkers and their guides out on the fell, who were obviously enjoying their walk. The THS has emptied out a bit today but the Stewards are expecting more to come for the weekend. It has cooler down a little bit now so it should be more comfortable for sleeping tonight. Nearly all packed up for our tow home in the morning.

Looks like we found an ideal place for a walk today as it was quite breezy on the north coast of Anglesey and overcast for the first hour of the walk, even some sea mist blown in on us as we rambled along the Welsh Coastal path. We walked from site down to Cemlyn Bay.

Later on the sun broke through but we kept the breeze with a temperature in the low 20s. Really enjoyed it, about 6 miles in total and a well deserved ice lolly at the end. Walking westward along the coast tomorrow.

Have a safe journey home tomorrow @nelliethehooker.

Not a deal happening here, itโ€™s very hot though. We had an early dip yesterday, breakfast then into the pool for an hour, shower then pottering around. Hound seemed settled in front of his big fan, so we decided to take the old Jeep out for a shake down after lunch. Roof is now off, with soft top fitted, so we had a good breeze driving along, but boy was it hot when we stopped. Called at local brewery for a birthday present, and OH to stock up, then rattled (I kid you not๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿคฃ) around Strines Moor area taking in scenery, super low reservoirs, beautiful heather, all round stunning scenery. Itโ€™s obvious Jeep needs some TLC, but OH will sort things, nothing major just some rattles to sort, freeing off of bits and bobs. Itโ€™s got a narrower axle than our other Jeep, so the speed humps were more of a trial, and itโ€™s a lot shorter wheelbase so some of the road humps were like Bechers Brook๐Ÿคญ Great fun though, just takes us back to some our our past fun off road days.

Quiet evening, we had a meal sat outside, ordered another big fan (as you do) and then tried to sleep. I am up at Mumโ€™s early today, Sis at dentist, still very hot here, but overcast at moment.

That sounds like a nice trip out @Takethedogalong

Safe journey home @nelliethehooker When and where is your next trip?

You sound as though you are having a grand few days @Wherenext

It was a very hot, humid and uncomfortable day yesterday with very hazy sun. When we did get a breeze it was a hot one - a bit like sitting under a hairdryer. We didn't do a lot - I just pottered - did a bit of washing and then drove over the fens to feed our son's cat. We took her by surprise yesterday as we decided to go earlier to miss the rush hour queues. They are home today. Today is cloudy and a bit cooler - so far. We might go to our local garden centre to offload a lot of plastic pots as they have a collection point for them. Our garden help came the other day. He said there wasn't much he could do in the way of actual gardening as the ground was rock hard so he trimmed some of our shrubs and gave our yew hedge a good haircut and a very good job he made of it.

I hope you have a good time in Scotland @DSB

Today Iโ€™m trying to finally decide what to wear for our Grandsonโ€™s wedding on Saturday. I bought a dress a while ago, but now it seems a bit dowdy. But dressed up with my favourite jacket (pink velvet patchwork - bought 14 years ago) it should do. Add in a fascinator, new bag (and a new walking stick) and I think Iโ€™m sorted.
OH has to decide which of his fancy waistcoats to wear.

Weโ€™re going down tomorrow and back Sunday so itโ€™s almost a proper holiday ( hotel not caravan).

Iโ€™m most looking forward to seeing our two Great Granddaughters dancing in their posh dresses.

Woke up to rain this morning but it didn't last long. We actually walked north not west as I mistakenly said yesterday. This time to Cemeas Bay from Tregele and then further along the Coastal path to the church dedicated to St.Patrick, this being from where he sailed to Ireland from. Not sure if @nelliethehooker covered the same ground a few weeks ago.

The sun soon came out and the walk was wonderful. Walking into Cemeas we bumped into 2 local villagers who also lived in our street when we first moved in. Haven't seen them for a while. Good job I was with the wife ๐Ÿ˜‚

Got back about 4ish for a shower. Shattered but happy.

Yes, same ground and similar photos too. Very interesting church, although your history is a bit back to front, as it is sited close to where St Patrick landed after being shipwreck, and where he founded the church to give thanks for his survival, around 440 AD.

Good to read that you are finding decent walks from your site. As an aside the garage close to your site had the cheapest diesel on the island when we were there.

We were up early so as to get away before the day heated up, but it so happened that it started out cloudy and it didn't brighten up until after we arrived home. OH was able to get numerous rounds of washing done and it all dried quickly outside while I cleared out the van, and took Flyte for his walks etc.

As the car is going in for it's service and MOT on 1st we have decided not to book our first site yet for our next trip but have taken a chance and booked a CL near Bedale for the second one and am waiting for a reply from another up in Northumberland.

Another very hot day here, though not quite as hot as yesterday thankfully. We had oldest grandson here to help me with stuff in the garden, so we now have a nice new gate installed in the back fence, and some deck cleaning underway. It was really too hot for much exertion, so we just took it easy.

Work on DDโ€™s garden will start on Monday, so we are now able to plan some time away. Before we started booking anything, OH asked DD if they wanted to use the caravan over the school long weekend holiday at the end of September, and they promptly booked a site near Pitlochry as SIL wants to see something that is on at the theatre there! Not quite what we had expected, but they will pay our fuel to take and fetch the caravan, so we have agreed. They have also booked an extra night for us there, before we set off on our break.

So far we have booked a few nights near Edinburgh to visit some friends, and we will then head south to our furthest stop, North Wales, where we have another friend to visit, so we need to find another 2 or 3 sites between Edinburgh and Wales. Hoping to find some CLs with serviced hardstandings, preferably somewhere we have not visited before, which is not easy!
