Tried to post this last night.
Not as warm as yesterday but still very pleasant. Today we took the 77A bus from Keswick which goes around Whinlatter to Buttermere then over Honister through Borrowdale and back to Keswick all for £3 each. It was great having someone else do the driving and just look at scenery.

Arrived at our 'second home', yesterday lunchtime - Thornthorpe CS, near Malton. Gosh - it was so hot - as it is today - I really struggle to do anything in those temperatures. Had a bit of fun and games whilst setting up - which turned out to be a bit of a learning experience! Came to fit the twin Alko locks after raising the van with the E&P system and the rear nearside wheel just wouldn't spin and appeared to be locked up solid! Eventually, after a lot of struggling and brute force, I managed to move it sufficiently to align the lock with the receiver and fit the lock. The other wheel wasn't a problem. Later, I rang my friendly Chief Tech at ALV and we discussed options including his offer to come down from Durham next weekend, in his own time, to sort it out - both of us knowing full well that the chances of getting a mobile engineer at such short notice, were zilch!
Anyway, this morning, I went through the process again and bingo - the wheel had freed😀 - although you could just hear the shoes just touching the brake drum. As I suspected, it was so hot yesterday - that whilst the van was moving, the draught of air kept it sufficiently cool not to seize - but as soon as we stopped, the brake mechanism absorbed the heat - expanded - and locked up almost solid. Jon has offered to come and back it off a bit to stop it happening again. Big sigh of relief and lesson learned - but it just goes to show just how hot it's been / is!!

Glad to hear that the wheel has freed itself, @richardandros - fingers crossed that it was just 'one of those things'!!
We're just in the queue for the car wash, @nelliethehooker, then it's straight from the car wash, up the A5 and M6, to make our way to the Outer Hebrides!!

According to the local lady helper in the church, with whom I had a chat, the belief in Cemeas is that having been saved here he returned when returning to Ireland as he took it as a sign from God. Obviously anything assumed as being Gospel from that time can be taken with a pinch of salt but he didn't, as far as I know, mention where he sailed from in his "Confessions" book.
I'm never one to disagree with an elderly lady particularly when I'm not that bothered with disputing the facts and she was quite convinced of them.🤒

another lovey warm sunny day here today. Been using the Mercedes the past couple of days just for dodging around as it’s good to have the roof down in this weather so thought we’d make the most of it. Had a visit yesterday from 2nd eldest son DIL and grandsons nice to see them. Not done much today gave the merc a clean will put it back in it’s garage tomorrow now sitting up on the deck with the steak cooking on the Cadac enjoying a nice beer in this sun
@DSB have a nice trip hope this weather stays for you although you are going a lot further north than where we live
Hope everyone else has a nice weekend

We have tried to get in there for a few nights in September but there are very few adjacent nights available on either of the sites!!😖

@Wherenext I was just quoting from the following reference, but who am I to question the wisdom of a church lady!😆
Glad you had another good day out and missed the queues on the road home.

That's a fine shine on your Merc @Francis
I was able to get the caravan cleaned this morning without getting too warm as we had a steady light breeze all day. After lunch I went into town, in the bus, to get my glasses straightened after my argument with the caravan door last week, all sorted in minutes at Specsavers, so walked the 3 mls back home.
Hope you had a trouble free drive up to the ferry @DSB

Boy, it's quiet on here today.
OH has completed 3 washes with the bedding due in tomorrow. The weather looks like staying fair for most of next week. Hope it does for anyone away but a Bank Holiday looms in the not too distant future so rain on the way I daresay.
Had a phone call from my younger brother today to say I'll be an Uncle again in January. Haven't seen my other nephew yet even though he's starting school soon so I doubt this will impact us too much. Families are peculiar units aren't they?

@KjellNN and @heddlo it now appears that I was too quick with my post last night as this morning I received an email from Brandon Ford saying they'd had a cancellation for the dates I enquired about, so we are heading that way next month. Had I not emailed the site and just gone by the booking link this would not have happened. I was then able to book a further two sites this evening.
Another early rise this morning to get Flyte out before it became too warm. I then got the car cleaned outside and in, so just the inside of the van to do before the end of the month!!😆

Slight hiccup in the landscaping plans. When DD went to choose the paving slabs she wanted, it turned out that there was a lead time of 12 weeks, obviously no use. So the landscapers sent her a couple of alternatives, and suggested they do another small job first and delay her start by 2 weeks. Having chosen an alternative, those were then to take 6 weeks to arrive, but fortunately an update has now arrived that they can be delivered in 4 weeks.
So, no rush to get things ready now. Just hope everything is completed before they go away for the school week in October, as we would like to be away then too. It’s going to be a close thing!
There will still be things to complete after the main work is finished. She has to find a different balustrade for the terrace, which apparently I will be helping her to fit, and then the disreputable facing brick wall that supports the terrace is to be covered with composite cladding, which I will also be in charge of fitting. She plans to buy the materials as soon as the quantity required is known, but it will possibly be next spring before the fitting can be done.
We were at her house today so that I could make the cables to the outside lights safe, and to discuss the cladding requirements. Tomorrow I need to apply some sealant to a window frame for her.
Having power washed our deck, it will now need to be oiled, so I have ordered some stuff that can also be used on sheds, fences and play frames……..plenty there to keep me busy.

@KjellNN I admire your energy! I'm just starting a leisurely Sunday after what I thought was a busy pottering Saturday. Long may your stamina continue. I hope you get your holidays as planned.
I'm surprised that the choice of materials is that close to the start date. We had to choose ours as part of the planning stage of the project. Leaving time for delivery.
A beautiful sunrise, 2 cool nights and one very comfortable temperature day yesterday. I think I'm getting over the heat 🥵. Our garden help came Friday, he insisted he'd carry on with what was possible. I actually put the sun umbrella over him where he was working. I was told I spoil him 😃. Kept him fully hydrated too. Once we can actually do proper gardening again they'll be the last 🤞of the bigger jobs. He was surprised at the bird occupancy of our large hedge, and asked about sparrowhawk visits. Thankfully we rarely see one. But at that minute one swooped silently swooped through the garden..... Our feeders are close to cover for them.
My ankle cuff has arrived. It took a bit of practice to get it on, but got it sussed now. Surprisingly cool and comfy and I can wear socks under it if it cools down.... It is very rigid either side over the ankle. Think shoe horn, but surprisingly comfortable. My ankle is rather swollen and bruised, wonderful Arnica cream helping that.
LLovely To read folks news and see photos. Have i missed mousley posting recently? It's certainly been very quiet on here. I hope it means folks are keep busy amusing themselves. Enjoy your day

Not sure about the “energy” B2, it is frequently lacking, especially in this heat, which we are not really used to. I just take things slowly and take frequent breaks. Anything too heavy for me I get SIL to do, but he is not really into gardening or DIY, so only helps when essential. He does cut the grass when asked to, but does not volunteer.
We too were surprised that the choice of paving was not made much earlier, but it seems that the wholesalers have problems with getting guaranteed supplies and you either need to order and take delivery well ahead, or choose from what is available nearer the time. DD has nowhere safe to store such a large quantity of stuff for a long period, and as the garden is fairly insecure at present, there were worries about stuff “going missing”.
She has installed a camera to monitor the area nearest to the road and record too, so nothing more she can do now. It will be many weeks before any fence can be re-instated, and it can be quite a busy road at times. Once some sort of fence is in place, it will be fine, the old fence and hedge had to be removed to allow access for machinery and materials.

Quite a hot day here. Out first thing to water the garden and clean one of our fences and drain down the water as we might not be away again for a while.
Just been to town to collect a prescription from Boots. We had a text last Saturday saying they had received the electronic prescription and it would take 3-5 working days to make up. All our prescriptions are electronic now, no paper ones. As we were away last week we thought there would be no problem but they still haven't made it up. They are apparently having problems as the local Boots are not the ones sending the messages. Modern technology eh? 🤷♂️

Internet is a bit iffy up here, so it means posting when it's possible....
We've been down to Seilebost beach today... the beach was quite crowded.... 3 familes!!! 😀 Like many beaches here.... certainly worth a visit.
Even went for a paddle... as did our grandoson, Euan...
Apparently, the islad just offshore (Tara1nsay) was where Ben Fogle did some sort of 'survival' programme some years back...

And the road to Luskentyre where all the official night parking spaces for MHs will be full by this time.
Lovely pics, David. Mine are greyer than that😀

@DSB great pics we’ve never been up that way before looks great though
Still roasting here today we have spent most of today and yesterday in the garden clearing out and doing a couple of runs to the tip. Today I moved the caravan across to the middle of the drive and gave it a good clean hadn’t had time to do it since we came back from Norfolk so it had about 800 miles worth of road dirt on it all now clean hoping to get away local in a couple of weeks. Then gave the Volvo a wash I know some on here will be shocked but the last clean it had was at the jet wash in sheringham which was about 3 weeks ago now. We recently got new garden furniture for our deck and have created a great little seating area that gets the sun until quite late on so been working on getting all that set up to. Sitting there just now cooking on Cadac again been about 24 degrees here most of the day.
Hope everyone else has had a nice weekend

There are quite a few motorhomes about on the Island @Tinwheeler. Today has been a great day for weather. Not a cloud in the sky atm, so I guess it could go cooler tonight....
Just been for a boat ride around the bay at South Lochs....

@KjellNN if you are thinking of stopping at Brandon Ford they do have a web site, which is not included in their CC web page, and which includes a booking page so you can check if they have availability.
Great photos @DSB the beaches look beautiful, and you are obviously having great weather.
Good to read that you are keeping up standards @Francis 😄😄
Will you ever get to the end of all your projects @bakers2, (sorry no red) they seem to be going on for ever?I
I managed to get most of the inside of the caravan cleaned today, but it became too warm to finish it completely, so hopefully I will complete the task tomorrow.

The trouble is @Francis, for us, it's not too 'caravan' friendly.... Although the roads are well maintained, some are quite narrow, but there are passing places. We tend to prefer serviced pitches these days, which are few and far between. The Western Isles tend to be more popular for motorhomers - quite a few of them around over here. This time we have hired a cottage.... 🙂 Really worth a visit though.... and although it's North, the gulf stream influence in the west brings it mild weather.
It's been really quite warm today, but clear skies and no cloud has meant it'sxbeen a bit cooler this evening. It's certainly a place I can recommend folk visit at least once, just to make up their minds. Our daughter and SIL moved here 6 years ago, and we visit at least once a year.... in the summer... 😀😀

People do it with caravans @Francis although it’s undoubtedly easier with a small MH. We encountered several caravans when we went and not all small ones either. A view CT members with caravans have done it.

Busy morning. Food shopping followed by visits to 2 GP surgeries with queries then Boots to pick up prescription that wasn't available yesterday but still had to be made up while we waited today then off to drop off a birthday present and card on behalf of MiL to one of her friends.
I called into our own surgery to see if they have been allocated Covid tests this year as they weren't last year resulting in me chasing an injection with the N.Wales health Board. Great to see that not only are they doing them but both myself and OH could book them there and then, along with our Flu jabs. So we're sorted for early October. Have to wait for MiLs surgery to contact us.
Also catching up with paperwork. New printer due to arrive any minute. Ordered yesterday and opted for 3 day delivery avoiding £12 for next day yet somehow its arriving next day.🤷 Also written to dealers about botched paint job.
I was hoping, ok maybe not enthusiastically, to get out and do some weeding but not managed it yet. Finish this cuppa then I'll get to it.

It is still warm here but we have had a mixture of clouds and sunshine instead of fully blue skies, perhaps a sign of what's to come. We had a busy morning getting rid of 7 bags and 3 crates of garden rubbish at the recycling center, before taking Flyte for his walk followed by shopping. Back into the van for a bit of more cleaning after lunch!

Well yesterday was a busy day. Went around Stornoway, and then after tea, went in the hot tub!! Absolutely NO photos!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Cloudy first thing this morning, but the sun is peeping through now. Off to take our grandson to 'softplay' later.... (our daughter and son-in-law are both working today, so we are on 'grandparents duty' just for today)

Dull and cool here, much better conditions for doing stuff outside than when it was sunny and hot. We have had oldest grandson here for a few hours, cutting wood to take home to his parents for their log burner. Still a lot left, so hope he will come back again soon, maybe Friday.

Last Saturday we headed down to East Midlands for our eldest Grandson’s wedding. Not the best of journeys, but it was Friday afternoon. But it was all worth it as we had a wonderful time. It was a lovely wedding, with our two Great Granddaughters playing their part so well. I have some beautiful photos of them but this is not the place for them- so here’s a couple of old farmers with the Bride and Groom.
