@richardandros yes I did know tomatoes stop lady dog pee yellow the grass. Not tried it with sardines. We use Green Peez, drops on her food, no issues and she's FUSSY. Recommended by the guy who treats our grass. Seems to work well.

Not a fan of the smart motorways either ridiculous idea no hard shoulder is madness always dread having an issue when on these stretches.
Lovely sunny warm day here in North Yorkshire we had a relaxing morning at the van then headed in to York for the afternoon. Love York it’s one of our favourite cities first thing we saw when we arrived was a street performer on a unicycle doing stunts and fire eating how these guys do these things is amazing. Had a wander through the market excellent as always lots of stalls and a food court selling various dishes from all over the world. Went to the White Swan for a meal as always it was excellent then while SWMBO was doing some of the shops I went in to another of my haunts The Snickleway for a pint. On way back to the car we had a walk past the minster to visit the statue that was put up recently in memory of the late Queen it seems to have divided opinion but we felt it was nice and a fitting tribute. Not sure of plan for tomorrow yet

Love York and Yorkshire, but it’s a long way from Devon. Hate Smart motorways with a passion. Absolutely nothing smart about them, in my opinion very dangerous. We really try to avoid where we can, I find them very stressful. Daughters dog is fed on dry food as wet food seems to upset her. When she stays with us I always mix in some pilchards in tomato sauce as I feel sorry for her on a bland diet, she wolfs it down. Very useful to know about it not making the grass go yellow.
Our last day here, packed, a good clean of the van, a long walk while OH had a nap, sat out and read my book. Then to the clubhouse for a very tasty meal. Off home to various appointments for us both in the next few weeks.1 -
The police didn't ask to search your caravan I take it @Goldie146 Enjoy your stay at NEB.
To those on the move tomorrow I hope you have trouble free journeys to your respective sites.
More fine photos @Francis it has been a few years since we visited York, as we won't try taking Flyte through the crowds now that he is blind, it is not fair on him, and we don't leave him for very long in the car, or alone in the caravan, during the warm summer days
Exploding lorry tyres are a frightening occurrences when it happens close to you

Oops something strange happened when I tried to add @Amesford to my last uncompleted sentence above, and I keep losing the post when trying to edit it!!
I was trying to say that a similar thing happened when we were passing a lorry on the M60, and it scared the bejesus out of me!

It has been very similar day to the previous few with a little rain through the night, dry but cloudy when we got up and the sun came and went during the day. OH did a round of washing before we headed out and once more it dried nicely on the airer under the canopy. Visited what is reputed to be the oldest church in Wales, the Church of St Patrick, at Llanbadrig, on the point of land where St Patrick landed after leaving Ireland, followed by a short walk to the headland and by White Rock Bay or Porth Padrig.
We then parked at Traeth Mawr and had a second walk, this time past Cemaes harbour, where we saw this tribute to one of the Titanic survivors and The St Patrick's Bell sculpture.
A final walk after lunch took us out to Porth Wnal by Wylfa Headland past the decommissioned nuclear power station.

Be careful with canned fish for pooches. It has good things and bad things. The reason why the grass doesn’t yellow as much is because they have high sodium content (salt), so the dog drinks more, hence less urine scorch. I used to pour water onto pee patches, this helps. It’s that first pee of the day that is worse🤭 That said, we gave our dogs canned fish in moderation, makes their coats lovely.
Smart motorways😡 We get onto the M1 on the junction known locally as “Death Alley” So many horrendous accidents, including fatalities. The idea on paper was sound, but relying on seldom working cameras, not enough refuges (cost cutting?) has been a disaster for some. After the huge outcry, we then had more months of roadworks as they put in more (missing?) refuges after the deaths. If we aren’t in a hurry, we drive a few miles and get on at the non smart section going South. Terrible.
Adore York, it was a childhood playground for us, as my Dad was from York. We are off there tomorrow evening to theatre.

Hello from NEB. Not doing much. Sleeping- drinking - eating - reading. Yesterday the weather was good enough to cook and eat out. Overnight the chairs and table not a good soaking. Only disaster so far - the fly swatter has broken. Like most things in the caravan it’s not in the first flush of youth.
Photo of a farmer trying his hand at cooking. Burgers and crispy onions. (Previously doused in whisky when he knocked his glass over).

@Goldie146 hope you have a nice trip away. We love cooking outside during the summer we have a Cadac so can cook a wide variety of things on it. Great to be sitting out with a drink cooking

Cooking burgers should be a doddle - and not involve me. I unpacked all the foodstuffs when we arrived. Then yesterday OH saw where I’d put the onions . No, they won’t do there I’ll put them here. Next day - OH - I’ll slice the onions, where are they? Eventually found (in the non obvious place he’d stored them). Ready to slice - oops! Full glass of whisky spilled over the burgers. Drained and mopped up and we were ready to go!
I’m very grateful as I do all the cooking at home. I don’t even mind the slightly burnt toast this morning. And he does do a good G&T. No pub measures here!

A first today for us. We set off in the rain for the first time since we bought the Van. Honestly. Over a year.
Stopped for a wander around RSPB reserve at Conwy. Then after lunch we travelled to a 15Century Welsh Manor House now run by CADW the Welsh equivalent of English Heritage.
Then off to a lovely CL looking down rural fields to the coast near Harlech. Currently sunny but we can see black clouds over Snowdonia to the north of us.

Arrived at Cayton Village CAMC site tbis afternoon.... the first site of the 'second leg' of our summer travels (....…this 'leg' is to the North East).
....they have made some changes since our last visit here.... entry to the site is now by vehicle numberplate recognition..... and when you choose your pitch, rather than walking back to the office to give them your pitch number, they send you a text, and you reply to it, just stating the pitch number. The site is quite spacious in comparison with some. We will certainly come back again....

@DSB and @Wherenext glad you have both got away ok. David - We were at Scarborough earlier in the year but stayed at West Ayton club site it had been redeveloped since the last time we were there very good job they had made of it.
We spent a lovely afternoon in Knaersborough today last visit was a couple of years ago but we didn’t stay long as it was raining but today the weather was much better so we had more of an opportunity to wander round. Lovely town also a nice castle and market place. Didn’t want to cook tonight so we had dinner in the one site bar which was very nice and reasonably priced

Glad to read that you both got to your respective sites without obvious travel problems @DSB & @Wherenext. Enjoy your latest breaks.
Fine photos again @Francis we have stayed near Knaresborough in the past but it was quite a while ago, so we should really get back there again soon.
Following quite heavy rain in the night it was dry when we got up but did have short periods of light drizzle while packing up and during our journey to a THS at Llanrwst. It has stayed dry since we arrived and so I managed a good late afternoon walk into the town, just to get a feel of the place. Walked over the 1636 bridge into the park where there is a Gorsedd Circle, built in 1951 to commemorate the Eisteddfod in the town that year.
The THS is quite quiet now with only 10 units on it tonight.

Visited the docs today to check up on wound, it’s healing nicely so no need for further dressing.
To celebrate we’ve booked 5 nights away at Burnham Wick CL, just hope the weather continues sunny
Lovely to see all the photos and folk are enjoying their time away

I love the frog @Wherenext! Enjoy your trip.
I met some friends for coffee at our local Blue Diamond garden centre yesterday. I resisted the urge to buy more plants but they had a sale in their fashion dept 😳.
Mixed weather today - a bit of drizzle first thing and then just a rather grey day with very little in the way of 'bright intervals'. Our garden help arrived this morning and actually had to cut the grass which is now surpisingly green again. My afternoon at the Cathedral shop.
More great photos @nelliethehooker You are finding some really interesting places to visit.
OH likes the sound of onions soaked in whisky @Goldie146 🤣
Good news @Oneputt I hope you have an enjoyable few days away.

@DSB - re Paul - Damn!!!! - but thanks for letting me know. I was about to ring him and ask him to come up here again. The other day - when the window cleaners were here, one of the caravan windows somehow acquired a scratch. It certainly wasn't there the day before because I go in every afternoon to read my book. I've managed to polish most of it out (it isn't deep) but I wanted him to come and work his magic again.

If you are on Facebook, @richardandros, he has updated the info. Apparently, he if happy for folk to visit him in tbe Loire Valley!!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Feeling a bit “in limbo” these days as there are various things going on that makes it quite difficult to plan our next trip. Only 2 weeks now of the school holidays up here left, but, having abandoned our original idea of an early August trip, we have intimated our intention to head off somewhere in the van for a few weeks mid/late September/October so DD has time to plan for childcare in our absence. Whether we actually do go away is less certain.
We are still waiting for quotes for repair work on the big windows on the front of the house, which makes planning time away tricky, DD’s garden work still does not have a definite start date, and getting repair work done at our local Guide Hall is also proving difficult (OH is in charge of maintenance). Then there are things that need to be done in our garden that stopped when we had to go to Norway, and we have been waiting for various appointments for OH which she does not wish to miss.
She has now, this morning, had her physiotherapy appointment for her knee problems and been provided with 2 very useful walking sticks, and told to apply for a blue badge as it will be at least a year before she will be seen by an orthopaedic consultant, and another 18 months wait if surgery is proposed. We did the blue badge application right away, a long and torturous procedure, so now she has to wait to see if they need to see her in person.
She should also have had another appointment for her glaucoma, but that has failed to materialise, so she will need to ring them. Things just do not seem to be going too well right now!

We got home this afternoon after a wonderful 3 weeks away mostly spent at Seacroft Club site in Cromer great place lots to do and we hit it lucky with the weather right in the middle of the heat wave site was great we made use of the pool and the bar was great too. Sandringham house was a particular highlight it’s somewhere we have always wanted to visit great place and lots of history. Headed up to Knaersborough on Sunday to the club site there what a nice place in all our years of visiting club sites this one has to be one of the nicest on the network the wardens do a great job with the flower displays and generally just keeping the site in good order also the on site bar/cafe was a bonus. Left there this morning at quarter to 9 and had an easy four and a half hour tow home roads quiet even around Glasgow. Van unpacked and back in its space on the drive our next time away will be to one of our local haunts but won’t be for 2-3 weeks as we have a few things on over the next couple of weekends. Hope everyone has enjoyed my pics over the past few weeks that’s one thing I do like about this new site it’s so easy to post pics of our travels l always enjoy seeing everyone pics when they are out and about

This little article is the PCB from our Truma heater which 'retired itself' last week. A new one was fitted today by a mobile engineer. By reading posts on here about similar problems I was dreading the cost but it was done for £350 all in. At least we got it fixed before going away next week.

RaIn again through the night, dry but dull when we arose and again the day brightened up nicely with late afternoon sunshine. Drove the short distance up to Gwydir Forest, parking first at the old Hafna lead mine, where we had a walk along the forest roads.
Then onto Lly Sarnau for lunch, and a short walk with views across to Carnedd Moel Siabod.
Returned past Llyn Geirionydd, one of the busiest places we have visited this trip because of all the activity on the water, and along one of the narrowest roads we have experienced in a very long while.

Weather looks good this morning @nelliethehooker, so it might even be a beach day.... we'll see what happens a bit later...
Yesterday was 'one of those days'. Managed to 'break' one of the outside chairs.... 'just' a loose screw, so I thought... but after trying for two and a half hours still couldn't get the bloomin' thing back in, so made the decision to buy new chairs. Couldn't get parked anywhere near the town centre 'camping type' shops in Scarborough, so in the end, headed off to Abyss Caravan Supplies nr Bridlington, who managed to sort us out.
After all that, a visit to Morissons in Brid, Dunelm in Scarborough and then the obligatory Costa, just about saw us through yesterday.... so not the cheapest of days!!!

...just sat outside on our nice new chairs having a cuppa and some breakfast. Just finished, and thought to myself, I'll just have another go at mending the old chair again...., 5 min, managed to get the screw back in and all is now OK..... you just couldn't make it up!! Two and a half hours yesterday!!!!
So now we have grey chairs and blue chairs!!!

Lovely photos. We had a nice night in York at the Opera House. Play was very good, and it’s a very nice theatre. We got parked up easily back of Clifford’s Tower, just a short stroll then to theatre from there. We had to chuckle, lots of folks stood outside at interval, as it was a lovely evening, Thomas Cromwell came out and had a fag with us all🤭
Stage set for opening scene, before lights down.

Been there, done that @DSB 🙄!!. Thing is, I kept quiet about it afterwards😉. Are you at Cayton for a few more days? Would be good to meet up, if you are.
@Takethedogalong - I have to admit you had me a bit bothered when you mentioned the salt in a can of pilchards - so I checked and was relieved to find that it's <1% - which I think is quite low - so we'll (Meg!) be continuing with the oily fish diet for a while longer😀. But thank you for raising it - I'd never thought about it. Pleased you enjoyed the theatre.

Lost WiFi yesterday. Had a lovely walk from Porthmadog to Criccieth after we caught the bus there. About 7 miles of lovely Welsh coastline. Black Rock Sands had a Mr Whippy so we indulged. Caught the bus back to site.
Currently sitting in Criccieth Castle as OH does a drawing before we walk back to site along the Coastal Path.
